Leo deserved an Oscar for this.....

i watched this boy's life today in the morning and it was one of the outstanding movie of leonardo dicaprio's ...couldn't believe it that it was his first movie but i totally went surprised because of this acting......leo is the man that can never be beated by any actor.

Back in the day when trailers spoiled the plot!

This movie made me cry, especially now that I have a son. It’s hard to imagine kids everywhere having to grow up in abusive homes or with an absent parent. I tried to imagine my son and I in this situation, especially me being a single mom.😭 Leonard Di Caprio was amazing in this!!

So he was 19 years old when he made this movie ??? WTF he looks like a 14 year old.

This is Leo's title role movie but he didn't get a mention. Lmao

This movie gave me the chills. First DiCaprio movie I ever saw on VHS. It was like watching my own father and my relationship on screen, and I watched it as that relationships unfolded identically as theirs in the film.

Man, I've never even heard of this movie, but for some reason I just got some serious nostalgia of going to the movies as a kid and watching the previews, and how it was like getting special or advanced access to movies nobody else knew about yet, and how some of them just hit you. How they all had that same voice as the narrator, the music, the graininess(?) of the film, etc.

Leonardo has been an oscar worthy actor since was 14. I don't think there was any child actor who started young doing oscar worthy performances since young age and continued at the same or highest level in his adulthood. Anyone can name another? Maybe Jodie Foster but she never had a very consistent career.

The music doesn't fitt the tone at ALL.

I convinced after Titanic , Inception,Revolutionary Road and The boys Life though been watched that Leonardo is a very skilled and super actor.

This kid Leo is going to grow up and be a brilliant actor one day ....👍🏻

August 4th, 2022 I just finished watching this brilliant cinema. At first I was apparently trying to find something special out of this one but couldn't find it but by the last 25 minutes of this film, I understood it. It's the process. How Toby and his mother went on to live happily after their hardships was inspiring to me. Cinema at its best.

Just by watching this trailer one can see the foreshadowings of the stellar, mesmerizing and internationally renowned actor that Leonardo DiCaprio was destined to become, granted with the help of hindsight, along with 25 years of subsequent, outstanding performances rendered, it would be easy to assert such discernible greatness by watching this movie trailer alone. For back then no one could be 100 percent certain that the soon to blossom acting prodigy was going to take off to these heights scarcely reached within the whole history of the Hollywood firmament, and then become one of the all time biggest and most critically acclaimed acting superstars, as Leo was on this launching pad to the moon and beyond. Though if you pay attention to this trailer you can catch many glimpses of such soon to evolve acting greatness and screen versatility, along with this eye opening emotional depth and range that was clearly evident at that time, and just being tapped into (precocious as Leo was). Amazing! The very genesis of the acting powerhouse that took the entertainment industry by storm over the following 25 years. Incredible!

I love Leo, but I find it hilarious that he was at least 16 when this was filmed, yet looks like he's 12 in some of the scenes.

Yep, this is pretty much my experience with step fathers. They're out to prove some stupid point to themselves and will ruin your life in the process.

De Niro is so ridiculously good in this movie. The other actors are excellent too, but De Niro, he just incarnates his character down to the atom. Ironically, that Dwight guy is for the most part a pretty decent stepfather. A bit harsh, at times unfair, yes, but he always had Jack's best interest at heart and he spared no time and energy to help out, essentially, a very much troubled young boy.

I think this movie truly illustrates the causes and solutions of a family being dysfunctional.

De Niro esta excelente, se ve que no es ni rastro del personaje pero suavizo su actuación para lograr un equilibrio que se disfruta mucho con Leonardo. Me encantó!

It's weird how no one is mentioning the fact that these are both of Martin Scorsese's muses in one film! I mean I know this was years before Leo worked with Martin, but c'mon, people!

This film is what got DiCaprio working with Martin Scorsese in the first place, and he was recommended by De Niro, to boot; now they're going to be in Flowers of the Killer Moon, Scorsese's latest work, and it's sure to be a masterpiece of two great actors like these guys

I saw this movie around 10 or 11. It haunted me for years as I was in similar situations. I could understand Leo’s character too well. Bless Tobias’ heart for going through this horror. Also his mother is a total idiot.

In my opinion their lives were all good until the step father stepped in their lives and ruined everything, also he brought the drama.Including their relationship, and his opinion of being at home.This tells a story of how some people's house hold actually is.I'm glad they illustrate that with realistic characters.
