This is the most devastating and frightening episode, it escalates with each vampire that appears, demonstrating their predatory nature until it culminates in the one that weighs the most, it's heavy but brilliant, at least for me! lol

Truly the most gut wrenching and frightening moments of TV. I definitely understand your reaction. I was so distraught watching Lestat's violent abuse of Louis and Claudia. and I agree, I can't imagine wanting Louis to force himself to be with his abuser.

I mean we have to remember that he's watching a show that's not in his native language and so when Lestat gets all wordy and poetic... I assume, and understand, why it would be a little bit difficult for a non-native speaker to follow.... It would be like zoning out to Shakespeare play... Which I have absolutely done before. Lmao.

I relate so much to what you said about almost hating how you can empathize and understand perspectives of people who cause a lot of harm bc you know they don't really mean it. it's a major running thread in my life, too, sadly, lol. I call it my empathy disorder bc it can at times be very unhealthy for me and sometimes i worry it's because it's easier for me to advocate for others than to advocate for myself. After episode 5, I was depressed for a week until the next episode 😭 This show is really good at bringing to light the darkest feelings we all face in secret. The intimate point of view we get through Louis' painfully discussing his relationship with the man he loved first and most in the world but who also caused him the most pain, and the heartwrenching point of view of Claudia's diaries-- the grief Louis feels about his mistakes as a father and then a brother figure to Claudia... all so human, but easily depicted in fiction by "monsters" because we often feel wrong and deformed for having this darkness inside us-- when really it's what connects us all. Amazing reaction as usual. 💜

The fight scene was sad because you could tell Louis was stuck in the middle and didn’t want to choose between his husband and daughter. Also, do you know why Lestat bit him? The last time he bit him was in episode 1, where they were intimate, and they levitated. But I wasn't sure if it was meant to weaken him, so he has no choice but to stay and heal, or do you think he wanted force a “physical” connection? I know they haven't been intimate in 5 years, and Lestat said " I choose you".

I'm still not sure about how I feel about the show making Lestat an actual physical abuser in this ep. He never did that to Louis in the books But "dropping from the sky" part feels oddly familiar to another moment in later books that happened with other characters which makes me wonder just how unreliable Louis's story actually is

I really felt for you when you were getting emotional, I just wanted to come through the screen and give you a hug 🤗. Least was wrong to allow him emotions to run that wild, but was he completely wrong? After having watched it a few times now, I say no he wasn't. Even in Louis interview with Daniel he says he took an unsavory delight in provoking Least. So of course, he should not have put his hands on Louis and that way, or even Claudia. It would have been better for Least to convenience Louis to take her to a hospital, by lying to him and telling him that she's too young and the she couldn't survive the change. But you can understand Least frustration with Louis and feeling neglected and rejected by Louis. His feelings of being just utterly alone and shattered because Louis had been giving him the cold shoulder for years at that point, nearly 10 years, Louis had been behaving that way towards Least. He stayed in that house when really Lestat should have left Louis, or put Louis out instead he just allow Louis to abuse him emotionally, and finally, Lestat abused Louie physically, it's not justified, but it is understandable, everyone has a breaking point. And Claudia coming back and Louis even considering leaving him was a knife in Leas's heart, he says " A thousand nights of sulking, and the first sight of her, you were going to just up and leave me"? I feel bad for Least 😢
@Itsstillbeating

Yes he was completely wrong for his abuse of Louis. Louis did not emotionally abuse Lestat, he was depressed because Claudia left and he felt immense guilt. None of Lestats actions were warranted
@lenorawilson2326
@lenorawilson2326 21 күн бұрын
@@Itsstillbeating I must respectfully disagree, yes Louis was depressed but he could have gotten up off his butt and tried to got fine her. He wanted Least to be the one to say come on let's go get her. He was very cold and indifferent towards Least. Louis said out of his mouth that de took delighted in provoking Least. That man/vampire took that for ten years from Louis. Least should've been put Lo6out of his house, because it was Least's house. Violence is never ok, I want to be clear about that, but I can understand his temper and he did say he had a temper, so Louis, knowing that the did have a temper, why would you keep poking the bear, so Louis has to take some responsibility for his actions in that altercation. The fact that he kept it together for that long is great.
@Itsstillbeating

@@lenorawilson2326 No, Louis does not have to take responsibility for Lestat's violent abuse. That is just rhetoric abuse apologist spew in order to protect abusers.

@@Itsstillbeating The relationship was toxic and they were abusive to each other. You kind of sound like one of those people with a little nippy dog antagonizing a huge Rottweiler. The whole time the little dog is bitting and growling no one does or says anything. But as soon as the big dog attacs back because he's had enough then the Rottweiler is the bad guy. Nope but life doesn't work that way, both are to blame. And Louis should have gotten up and left if he wanted her back that badly. You have your opinion and I have mine, we can agree to disagree.
@Itsstillbeating
@Itsstillbeating 21 күн бұрын
@@lenorawilson2326 How was Louis antagonizing Lestat by spending his time depressed looking for clues for where Claudia was? Louis was actively searching for Claudia. At this point I believe Louis only stayed because Lestat is his maker. Again, Louis no longer wanting to be in a physical relationship with Lestat due to his depression is not abuse. What Lestat did was a violent, abusive act on someone immensely less powerful than he is, driven by rage and jealousy.
