I love my Railmaster, that looks exactly like this one and it isn't even a fair comparison. Rolex Milgaus has a 1000 gaus resistance the Omega is rated at 15,000 gaus. Also it is low-key cool and I love that it doesn't scream at people on my wrist. I know how awesome it is and that is all that matters to me.

The Name Milgauss is a relict from the past. The Modern Milgauss is way more antimagnetic than 1000 Gauss. It can easily reach 15k gauss Like Omega.

I think it’s because there is no markup (or not enough) to complete with Jomashop. They need to be in the 3k range. But they can’t do that…my AD has them, but they are easily $1500 more than JS for the exact same watch. They’ll discount them of course, but not enough to justify the difference.

My local Omega boutiques do have them. The 3 I've gone to have 1-2 colors, but they don't sell at all. I bought the blue one from Jomashop at $3200ish, but ended up returning it. It just didn't do it for me, and this is coming from an Omega fan with 6 Omega watches. This is a model for the die hard fans.

You don't want to buy one brand new. You'll take a bath on it if you wind up selling it. Its price over 5k and they are on the secondary market for 3k and sometimes under 3k. The secondary market is the way to go

Hi Jory, fell in love with the railmaster in 2023 and been watching videos and checking prices ..finally I visited Japan about 2 weeks ago and picked up the blue and white dial cos a can't stand fake patina , absolutely love it it's perfect on my 7 ich wrist

Have this stainless brushed railmaster. It is an outstanding , understated, tough watch. There is something special about this one. Not polished, flashy, look at me. Functional elegance. I work in agriculture. Farm. This has become my work watch.

I like the Railmaster as well and agree it is overlooked. Although I think of the Seiko SNE045 and all its predecessors as the true rail masters since that's what my father wore working on the railroad for 30 years.

So in 2024 apparently $3500 is "cheap." Jesus I wish there was ONE channel the common person could relate to. Even the "outdoor" and "off the grid" channels have moved into mansions amd every episode is them just showing us the cool things they get for free even tho they could pay for the item 3x over off the revenue off that single posting. I swear the one channel I used to follow would ONLY take a sponsorship is the company made products that cost a minimum of $1000. Like if it wasn't the TOP OF THE LINE he wouldn't sponsor it.

I bought this last year, it’s awesomeness all around and doesn’t look ostentatious and attract gold diggers 😂 Edit, bought the blue denim version, better looking and no faux patina on strap. The strap is too large, it’s meant to be worn on the sleeve of coveralls, I wear it on a matching blue NATO strap and nobody knows it’s $4,300 😂

The Railmaster is a workhorse for sure. Simple. Accurate. My only complaint would be the leather lined NATO straps they put them on…if you get one, get it on the bracelet.

I bought a new Denim Dial Railmaster in December 2023. Absolutely love it. Just an amazing watch to have in rotation. Flies completely under the radar and looks great. I think @ $3,000 new (which achievable) it’s the best bang for your buck currently in the world of horology. There’s nothing better brand new for $3,000. Absolutely nothing.

I couldn't agree more with everything you said, but I'm kinda bummed you made this video. I've thought for yrs the Rail Master will be my choice when I finally step up to Omega. The Rail Master is not over-hyped like the Sea Master. Much more masculine looking than the Aqua Terra. Lower price, smaller size, and less cluttered dial than Speed Master. And much more sporty looking and less dressy than Omega's other offerings. For my interests the Rail Master is the one for me. It's always flown under the radar, and it's priced way below any other Omega Professional. And I LOVE that case back!! I'm just bummed that the price is going to skyrocket now. I'm even apprehensive about writing this. 😅

There are many watches that are comparable or outperform the Milgauss for their price. However the perpetual argument for Rolex is that "It's a Rolex". The Rolex name brings benefits associated with the brand name, such as resale value. Omegas lose value from the moment you buy it, but a Rolex usually retains same value or increases due to market demand. Sure, many don't like it, but it is an objective truth you can't change and hence affects the overall perceived value of the piece. This is one of reasons that I am not so interested in Omega. I don't wear watches as investments, but knowing that your watch has such value retention properties is a huge plus.

I think in most ways something like a Ball Engineer III NM9026C-S15CJ-BE would make a better comparison. A watch with an undeniable RR connection with a far higher anti mag rating of 80,000 anti mag, and in my opinion better looking. Not to mention it can be found New all day for well under 2k!

80,000 A/m is 1,000 gauss. 1,000 gauss is what Rolex referred to as a Milgauss back in the fifties..A modern Milgauss is likely closer to the Railmaster than the Ball in terms of anti magnetism. I own a Ball watch, it’s comfortable and well regulated. That said, aesthetics can be very subjective, I wouldn’t put them as close to the level of Omega or Rolex, but they have a couple decent watches.

You aren't looking at Ball very closely then. I'm not claiming it is one for one equal to Rolex, but it's much closer than you think. You get what you pay for, and Rolex LOVES to have that notion about. Rolex makes great watches, and they have managed to position themselves to levy a hefty upcharge based on that perception.@@michaeljordan6008

You did not compare the movements. I own an Omega admire Omega watches for their looks value and utility. Rolex are nice as well but unobtainable at authorized dealer showrooms and extremely expensive for my budget.

Your assessment of the wearability of the OP is inaccurate. The 41 wears smaller, not bigger. More like a 39 (I think the actual measured case size is 39.5mm) and is quite thin at 11.9mm. They also come in smaller sizes (28/31/34/36).

I actually owned this exact Railmaster but I grew tired of the heavy faux patina and butterfly clasp and loud rotor. So I sold it. I actually prefer the RM from the mid 2000s

I think you KZfaqrs should come together as one with the notion that buying any luxury watch for beyond around 2k on a metal bracelet with absolutely no clasp adjustment should be a 100% no. GS and to a lesser extent Omega and others have gotten away with it for too long. They become a pig to live with year round as the weather changes. I don’t even necessarily mean tool free adjustment, any adjustment at all that doesn’t require link resizing! In the long term it’s a huge turn off to actual everyday wear imo.

The dial design of the RM is surely more comparable to the Explorer model, albeit a much cheaper looking version. Sorry, but the printed dial is no match for the white-gold applied markers of the Rolex models you mention. It’s also too busy imho with the track around edge & the horizontal line between 3 & 9. It’s just ugly. Price & accessibility is not evidence that the Omega is better either, btw! Happy New Year.

If you like the design go for it. I’m saying imho I’d chose the Explorer or Milgauss over it 100 times out of 100. But you’ll make up your own mind I’m sure. Good luck.

Omega has always been a superior watch then Rolex. The only thing that Rolex has excelled at is marketing. Also, there was a time when Longines was superior to both and it’s on its way back up. Swatch will never let it surpass Omega though.

Not if reliability and accuracy are important. Rolex was the absolute work horse. Longines did make a nice watch in the 40s and 50s, but they were dress pieces. And they still have a Long way to go to come close to Omega.
