Magnolia bark has been used in traditional Chinese herbal medicine for centuries to promote sleep and boost elevate mood.
In the U.S. one of its primary uses is to treat rheumatism, and it’s also been used for pain associated with gout and other joint inflammation.

I just pruned my magnolia tree, being upset that it didn't produce enough flowers... I never knew that it was medicinal!🤯 Thank God, the branches are still by the tree, I am going to collect a ton of bark tomorrow!😂 ❤Thank you very much for your information!❤ I've been paying big bucks for valerian root to make calming tinctures to lower my blood pressure & anxiety. I am switching to magnolia, oh yeah!🎉

Haha awesome! But you can't really compare valerian and magnolia. Magnolia takes the edge off of stress, but valerian will put you to sleep so hard you can't remember your name when you wake up lol

It's amazing that I've never heard of this before. I've researched herbs for a long time and magnolia was never mentioned once. I knew I had a very large 30+ foot fraser magnolia or the cucumber tree on my property. I've also been able to identify the sweetbay and collected the flower buds. Now is the perfect time to find this video. I've had a tone of joint pain neck and back for years and felt it is digestive related. Thanks for your work to bring this information back to light. Much appreciated.

@@LegacyWildernessAcademy I'll update with the progress while taking the herb. Only been a few days but I've seen some pretty interesting results. Having dealt with this for a long time, you get to sense the inner workings of the body in a way most probably don't. Or hopefully never will. I can tell it a powerful herb. Thanks again!
@LegacyWildernessAcademy
@LegacyWildernessAcademy Ай бұрын
@@paulofthewoods0787 I should mention that if you feel it's digestive related you should also look into yucca root and greenbriar/smilax root. Both are used for joint pain, but they work differently than magnolia. They have saponins that bind to toxins in the gut and prevent them from being absorbed, reducing the toxin load on the body and helping with inflammation. Make a combo tincture with all 3 and I bet it would work wonders.
@paulofthewoods0787
@paulofthewoods0787 Ай бұрын
@@LegacyWildernessAcademy very cool. I do sometimes eat greenbrier and every once in a while I'll get an allergic reaction similar to shrimp which I'm also allergic too. Same with lambs quarter. Doesn't happen all the time though. I tend to think there is more going on there than a simple allergy. Maybe not a bad thing at all.

I am loving your knowledge! I found a sassafras tree on my property based on your education. I knew I had seen them but I always chalked them up to a young oak. But when you explained the smell of the leaf and the bark I found one within 15 minutes of hunting. We live on old school land that grows what it grows based on the sun with the woods. You explaining the leaves and the smell led me there quickly ❤ Thank you.

How do you make and use it with glycerin?

Could you put the bark in a hermetically sealed jar with olive oil to make an oil based tincture instead? Let it sit maybe four to six weeks in a dark spot and place drops under the tongue then swallow after 30 seconds to a minute? Would the dose and frequency be the same? Thank you.

If you don't like alcohol for a tincture, try using glycerite for a tincture. Alcohol makes the best shelf stable and does the best extraction. Glycerite probably is a near second and oils probably the poorest and least shelf stable. Or steep it in water and make a tea.

I live in zone 9-9B and we panted 2 magnolia trees in our front yard so how can we tell if it is sweet bay magnolia? Where you live an hour north of the Gulf of Mexico so it’s more like 9B I believe..

Like your videos, but I live in ohio. I have a question. I believe the tulip tree is in the magnolia family. Do you think it could also be used?

Yes, you are correct that it's in the magnolia family and is used similarly. It can be used the same exact way for arthritis pain, but I don't know for sure if it has all of the same beneficial effects on the brain/nervous system. You can harvest and prepare it the same way shown in this video. Thanks for watching!

I have a few deciduous type magnolia out in my woods. These are really skinny and tall with huge leaves. Would you have an idea the variety and if can be used in the same way?

It sounds like the big leaf magnolia, Magnolia macrophylla, but regardless of the exact species it can be used the same way. Thanks for watching!
