Are there different types of Mimosa tree? If so, will all have the same benefits?

I used to make brewed root beer from extract that I sent for. I liked the idea of controlling the amount of sugar and it was economical. My first batch was made with bread yeast from the grocery store as recommended by the extract maker. It was ok, but I reasoned that I might improve the flavor with a substitute yeast since all the other ingredients would still be the same. I suppose that bread yeast was chosen for it's wide availability. So the next extract order came wine yeast meant for montrachet. I chose that one for it's cool name as much as anything else. 😃 The result was much improved flavor of root beer. I had cut way back on the sugar content but it still fermented fine. That was years ago and I haven't made any root beer or barley alcohol beer since as i sadly parted my sizeable collection of large glass crown cap bottles that I had amassed by saving 5 cent deposit grocery store soda bottles. They probably sell for a price I probably wouldn't want to spend now anyway. My beer making was also done creatively. Another time for that. Nichols Garden Nursery where I got my extract and yeast from was still in business the last time I checked, but I'm not sure they still carry that product line.

Should let everyone here know that Mimosa Hostilis has a root bark extremely high in DMT. Yes, the “drug”. Nothing made naturally in your body should ever be considered a drug. The dried root bark ground into a powder can be synthesized and converted to DMT which will indeed make you happier than you ever have been in small doses.

Interesting video. I'd be concerned with making "bottle bombs." Have you ever taken specific gravity readings to see how much abv is actually in these batches? I wonder how long they'd keep if you pasteurized them after conditioning?

Take this for what it’s worth, I did a study on the sassafras root with ChatGPT and found this: Safrole and Its Health Concerns Safrole is a naturally occurring compound found in the roots and bark of the sassafras tree and other plants like nutmeg and cinnamon. Here are the key concerns and benefits: Health Concerns: 1. **Carcinogenic Properties**: Research in the 1960s found that safrole is carcinogenic (cancer-causing) in animals. High doses of safrole caused liver cancer in rats, leading the FDA to ban its use in commercially prepared foods and beverages. 2. **Toxicity**: Safrole can be toxic in large amounts, potentially causing liver damage and other health issues. Benefits of Sassafras (without Safrole) Despite the concerns around safrole, sassafras has been used for various benefits: 1. **Traditional Medicine**: Native Americans and early settlers used sassafras for its medicinal properties, including as a treatment for fevers, skin issues, and digestive problems. 2. **Anti-inflammatory Properties**: Some traditional uses of sassafras include reducing inflammation and relieving pain. 3. **Aromatherapy**: Sassafras oil, when used in a safrole-free form, can be used in aromatherapy for its pleasant scent and potential calming effects. 4. **Flavoring**: Safrole-free sassafras extract is still used in some flavoring applications, offering a distinct taste that was historically popular in beverages like root beer. Safrole-Free Sassafras To mitigate the health risks, modern uses of sassafras often involve safrole-free extracts. These extracts aim to retain the beneficial properties and flavors of sassafras without the associated risks.

I have another question. Instead of boiling the bark in water for 15 minutes during the summer, could the bark be put in a sun tea jar and just let it steep longer outside? We made tea from Mimosa flowers and it's a nice, light flavored tea that does seem to pick you up a little. I have 2 jars of tincture from bark working now! Glad I found this video!

I realize the need for boiling to sanitize since you're fermenting, but I remember reading somewhere that Sassafrass root tea needs to be made with cold water to keep from leaching the things you don't want out of the root, need to search that up again to see the reason

Reminds me of the old farm I grew up in, in South Alabama. We had a huge Mimosa tree beside our house. I remember climbing up in it when the flowers bloomed and it smelt so good. My grandfather called it the raining tree. Because if you sit under one, you can actually feel droplets of water hitting you. I live just outside of Atlanata now, and there is one just down the road. So Im going today and pick some blooms and get some bark off it to make myself a happy tea tonic. Thanks so much for sharing this. I had no idea.😮❤😮

Oh man. Today I learned that Sassafras is where safrole comes from and that's what they use to make X lol and I started to think maybe they removed it not because of toxicity (well, it is toxic in many cases) but because of the same reason Coca Cola doesn't have youknowwhat in it anymore

I’m sure that the Pharmaceutical companies probably had something to do with saying that sassafras causes cancer! The fact that sassafras has medicinal properties, they don’t like competition (and want everyone dependent on the chemical drugs instead of natural ones)!

We used to drink sassafras tea quite often, as a kid. My dad used boil the root, or bark . I think that it was the root, because it was always covered in dirt when he brought it home. The tea tasted like root beer, or Dr Pepper. Not in the southeastern states though. In Illinois, about an hour southeast of Chicago

Sorry, but this tree is considered an invasive pest. They get everywhere. They kill off other plant life that needs the nutrients more than they do. We will not be accepting this invasive tree here anymore, thanks. You northerners are more than welcome to take them back up north tho. ☺️

Really appreciate your channel king! 👑 I already made Mimosa flower tea and even smoked it already in an herbal blend 💨 and the effects were amazing. I have a recommendation for your videos if you end up reading this. Going out of your way to make it like if you were in the wild (lots of video time shown making a fire, etc) isn’t really what I want to see. But showing exactly how you go from digging up the root, and processing it into shavings like that is exactly what I want to see, but you left that part out. I might not speak for all the audience, but I imagine a lot of us are here with the intention to possibly harvest something we commonly see in the wild and process it using basic kitchen tools in a kitchen environment. With that in mind, I think slight tweaks in how you edit your videos will make for better videos for more people and help you achieve your stated mission. I think the format of other cooking shows where you show less of you speaking directly to the camera, and more having that audio layered over footage of you doing the work like shaving the roots would work much better. Much love and respect! 👑🙏💛

Agree, and he should specify inner, or outer root bark, as that matters a lot. But yes, process from digging to the boil would be useful for most.

Yeah and the bark has dmt in it whcih is probably why it has a hapoy effect, butbibwoudk probably say thats in small doses. It can contain 1-1.7% of dmt. And dmt can be intense. So be careful. You should warn about that in the video. If ya dont know of this then you might want to research the tree and plants really well before posting things like this.

I hallucinated for nearly 3 days after eating 4 belladonna flowers after stripping the veins out. It was not what I would call a fun experience. I have read about daturas potentially help with Parkinson's disease which I'm very interested in as my mother passed away from late stage Parkinson's. My wife and I helped her manage it holistically for over 6 years. I'm a massive fan of plant medicine & have been building my herbal library up & knowledge. Love seeing your videos & I love my datura garden as do the pollinators 💖
