After the Win Model 70, the Savage 99 is the best working man's rifle ever made. My Grandpa, not a rich man, was the envy of deer camp with his Featherweight. It's just kryptonite on whitetails in .300 Savage. I also have an 1899 in 30-30. Best woods gun I've ever had.

we have a 300sav i did buy a 308 then a 300winmag and a 6.5creeed but the 300sav is my fav when hunting iron sights in the deer stand! i have live this lever action and hope i can give it to my son oneday

my dad has a 250 savage and i went hunting with it one time. First shot the buck(deer) didn't move, but the rest scattered. So thinking I missed I shot again, still didn't move. On the 3rd shot it finally dropped, but only had one hole through the heart. No idea how that happened. Maybe the buck was sick. That was the only time I went hunting

Thankyou , that was fascinating especially finding out he became a cattle station owner here in Australia . .. The first time i saw a savage model 99 was back in 1981 Movie DEATH HUNT with Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ma53e8aiv5a2lH0.html
