When you have a pressure plate that far out of balance, why couldn’t you weld a metal plate on the light side of the plate as a counter balance and then zero it by drilling holes on the heavy side as needed, making the total number of holes far less? They weld little plates on driveshafts to balance them, it seems like it would work here as well.

That clutch cover sounds an alarm too me. The actual pressure plate that the diaphragm is pushing onto must be very out of balance, or off centre. Either way, that is a clutch explosion waiting to happen.

I think (as several others have already mentioned) that pressure plate is no good. I would rater add weight on the opposite side or get a new one that is hopefully more in balance from the beginning. I personally would be mad if I picked up a crank assembly after balancing and the pressure plate was in this kind of state... Anyway, I do like most of the work you are showing ;)
@billysharp6194
@billysharp6194 11 ай бұрын
For the balancing machine, have you ever thought about getting some stick on tyre weights to use? Using those first to calculate how much weight has to be removed/added to something would prevent the swiss cheese effect like on this clutch in the video. The lad would have known that there was to much weight to be removed so would have looked to add weight to the light side and make a tidier job.

Doubt a clutch cover can be that far out of balance. I've seen it when tyre fitters stick weights on top of weights to balance a wheel.......you have to question it as tyres/wheels are made pretty accurate and if you have to add/remove a huge amount of weight then maybe the machine isn't setup right or uncalibrated?? Just a thought

Personally I think your second channel is a great idea as I have very little interest in the kit car (except for details of motorcycle engine, etc) or track days. Something you may be interested in, with cast iron valve guides using circlips as depth stop, pressing them too far will lead to guides cracking. It almost looks like they were machined in two parts! I've seen it happen on brand new Honda motor, smoking from factory! That little o-ring to prevent leaks is a very common on motorcycle output shafts, Suzuki have been using exact same method since the 1960's (on the smaller bikes it even looks exactly the same as what you showed)
