This Could Make Catching Fish Easier

In this video I am fishing for catfish on Lake Norman and I am trying out the Omnia Fishing app for your smart phone. Basically, the Omnia Fishing app combines all the functions of the the various weather apps into one fishing app so you don't have to switch from one to another. One of the more impressive features on the Omnia Fishing app is the water clarity function. This function has proven to be fairly accurate in predicting where I can find clear water and stained water.

Omnia Fishing app seems alright. I'm heading to lake Greeson, Ark. this spring. Never been there so I'll try the free trail while we're there. Will let you how it goes.

Same here in Illinois everywhere I fish. 2 poles with 2 hooks on each pole. I didn't know that until I started looking into fishing laws last year. I had no idea before. I'm over here thinking, where do I gotta go to be able to use 6 poles!!!!!??????

Iowa you can pay for a third line but 2 with regular license 6 can be a bit much at times

Ok Dieter , the one lake where I fish has depths up to 180 ft. Right now I fish from the bank until I get the boat going . Do you recommend shallow or going for the deep deep for big cats and stripes ?

You have any advice on what water temperature is too cold for being in an inflatable boat or kayak? I didn't take inflatables serious a few months ago, but the more I see and read, they look legitimately sturdy and safe and I just have a car. We are going to hit 60 and 70 next Saturday and Sunday around here but water temps look to be only 38 degrees as of now (unless that's way off) on Omnia app for my closest local lake. If the risk of flipping wasn't there, then I would definitely go. Going to have to wait awhile to get in the water if to risky. Thanks for any response!!

I have never heard of the Omnia fishing app, I have been using Navionics for several years so have not been looking, I will have to give it a look. The clarity feature probably won't help me much as my section of wheeler reservoir pretty much has two colors, muddy and muddier depending on rains farther North. Last week the elevation went up 8' in 3 days at Guntersville dam tailwater. I don't even like being on the river in those conditions, just way to much trash, from grass to barely submerged logs to hundreds of dead fish. Anyway I will give Omnia a look. The boat is almost agreeing to come out of the warm garage so hopefully I will be hitting the crappie soon (with a cat rod out of course).

Navionics has excellent mapping. The Omnia app has a lot of other functions the Navionics does not have like water clarity, water temperature, wind direction, etc.

Is the app free? Anyone know websites that give Catawba rivers temps?

This app in the video has them. The only website I've ever seen that has a temperature is the one on Lake Norman.

Only thing I’m not a fan of is not being able to do location “find me” while using other layers like bottom hardness, vegetation. It is only available for Navionics.

I’ve got to learn more about the app. There is a lot of information embedded in it.
