The game is followed by a ceremony that sees each former Montreal captain pass a torch to the next in line, ending with a handoff to Pierre Turgeon. The loudest cheers are for Maurice Richard, who receives an ovation that lasts nearly 10 minutes.

From what I heard, Maurice was exceptionally humble about his fame, and always thought of himself as "just a hockey player." I like that you can see he's slowly realising just HOW importanmt he was and finally accepts the praise.

The Rocket was more than just a star hockey player, he was the French Canadian super-hero who not only dominated a league with his scoring abilities but represented the common man who through talent and emotion brought the city and the Province a chance to say we are the best in North America. They were known ( the team) as the flying Frenchmen and the Quebec province seemed to be a factory for producing star hockey players. For the most part, men take their sports like a religion
