For this who didn’t know, Herb Welch is based on real life reporter Dick Oliver, and Jack is based on real life Jim Ryan. The two had an argument during a live broadcast where Dick was interviewing a tenant about a landlord-tenant dispute. Jim criticized Dick for his lackluster reporting, leading to an epic on-air dispute. ‘‘Twas gold.

WOW, this sketch is hysterical. This is probably the first SNL sketch in a while that's had me cracking up repeatedly. It's also ridic to see Adam Samberg and Jessie Eisenberg in the same sketch. Where's Michael Cera?
@waynej2608
@waynej2608 3 жыл бұрын
Jesse's name in the sketch is, Derrick Smalls. That's the name of the bass player Harry Shearer played in, This is Spinal Tap. Prolly, not a coincidence. Harry was once a snl cast member, briefly in the 80s.

There was a lot of great skits with this late 2000s-early teens group before they all left, but Herb Welch was always my favorite. I still have a hard time not replying with his old fashioned insults when asked to do remedial tasks.
