Honda secret menu to reset your sat nav.
So many people have been having an issue with their Honda satellite navigation system, so i thought I'd have a look in the secret menu and see if i reset the sat nav, would that work? well, it didn't work, but at least you now know how to get in the the secret menu and reset your sat nav. it turns out it is a Honda issue and they know about it, and hopefully it will be sorted by August 2022.

For those whose time is 1hr ahead, pull the radio fuse (17) at 12:59pm (real time) and at 1:00pm plug it back in. When you pull the radio fuse the time resets at 1pm. You will also need your radio code for this.

thanks for those useful instruction, however, you should have mentioned that the instruction for time changing will not work in advance so that people will not spend their time for nothing.

Mine is messed up and I can't change the time. The main clock is controlled by the nav on my 2010 Honda Accord EXL. I don't use the Nav I just want my clock to be correct.

I honestly can't see honda spending time to fix an issue that is not a danger to anyone that is only affecting 10 year old car's ! Hopefully they will but i don't see it happening.

My Honda dealer in Australia did confirm there is a problem with clock in 2022. Solution is to disconnect battery before 1pm and then reconnect battery at 1pm and then set clock. Obviously you will have to reset your radio with the code in your handbooks.

@@GPTV2020 Hi Gavin Honda were true to their word with the 17/8/22 fix. It's nothing to do with the DVD maps. Go into clock settings, time adjustment, fix time hour and minute. Make sure auto time zone is selected to on.

I have the USDM version of this car, 2009 Acura TSX 6 speed with navigation and it had the same exact clock issue. Very strange but also pretty interesting how even cars can have a bug similar to the "Y2K" computer issue from years ago. Edit: And the reason this happens is because GPS satellites function on a time period called a "GPS epoch" that uses binary counting from 0 to 1023 and on the 1024th week it resets. So this will happen again about 20 years in the future from now.

There is a memory overload issue with the chip that keeps the date and time. Honda does not currently have a fix for it. If you disconnect your battery at 12:59 (others have recommended 12:40) and reconnect it at exactly 1:00, the time will be correct from that point on. The calendar will still be off, but the time will be correct.

I'm in the same boat. Did what you suggested with no luck. My GPS clock is correct but my dash clock is an hour ahead. Won't let me manually adjust the clock on the dash no matter what I do.

I got a problem with my Honda where it jumped one hour forward for no reason, and i couldnt change the clock manually. I recently mounted a LED bar on my grille for extra lighting and i had to disconnect the battery. Now the clock is completely wrong and i dont even think its showing as a 24h clock anymore. Its currently 11:18 here and the clock shows 1:04 PM or AM idk. This is so annoying.

Ehhmm no not really, i actually think it's too bright sometimes, maybe on a bright day while reversing its harder to see. You can adjust the brightness by turning the knob on your instrument cluster also the button on the headunit has 3 modes, daytime nighttime and screen off. There are brightness levels on in the settings too. Hopefully these tips help.

Thank you for your video. I’ve had the same problem on my 2.2 diesel Accord. Over New Year my dashboard clock went 1hr forward and so I tried to change the clock and didn’t manage to do it. So at least with this video, it is not just my car. I’ve got another problem which occurs every winter and has done for the last 3 years. After cold night 6 degrees or lower my heater vent and temperature display do not come on until it gets warm inside the car. The colder it is outside, the longer it takes for the display to come on. I can still operate the heater without the display. Every time the display comes on, it always shows 22 degrees even if I had it on maximum or minimum. I always turn the temperature up 9 clicks so I know it will be on maximum when the radiator heats up. In the summer the heater vent and temperature display comes straight on when I turn ignition on. So what would I do to cure this winter issue? Thank you. 👍

The LCD (Liquid crystal display) could be letting in moisture from the air and that can cause that issue your saying so you may need to get and fit a new LCD screen. Thanks for your support.

@@GPTV2020 Thank you for your reply. On the LCD the radio station and clock display comes straight on in the cold. But the left and right of the LCD where the heater temperature’s are is all that doesn’t come on when it is cold. Thank you. 👍

I've got the opposite problem - after my battery completely failed, the clock on my dash is telling totally the wrong time even though the clock on my sat nav is correct. That is in a 2012 Accord Tourer 2.2l i-dtec. Exactly the same thing happened when the alternator failed in my old 2005 Accord Tourer 2.0 VTEC and I could never get the dash clock to tell the correct time again!

I'm not sure, i would say the sat nav would set itself but your dash clock you would have to set it yourself.

Gavin the strange thing is that my clock on the dash display between the temperature settings is one hour fast unlike your car. I am in Dublin so same time zone as you. I would not have known about the issue if my dash clock was correct as I never use the GPS clock.

Alright mate, happy new year 🍺 possible fix by disconnecting the negative battery lead between the hrs of 12 and 13.00 for around 20 minutes ☺️ connect back at 13.01 (remember you’ll definitely need the radio code) this is for clocks that are 1 hr out, not tried this yet so it might be a load of 💩 but worth a try 👍

The only way to fix this problem is to disconnect the battery & reconnect it at exactly 1:00. Honda is aware of it but I honestly don't think they will be sending out a fix cause the car is already old. I have the same problem with mine in Canada. I disconnect the battery & connected back at exactly 1:00 & everything work perfect. Only the calender doesn't work.

I need to correct the time on the dash not within the Nav. The clock in your video that shows the correct time with your watch. My dash area does NOT have a "clock" button.

It can only be changed by the sat nav. When you have the sat nav working correctly then once you adjust the clock it will automatically change your dashboard clock there is no other way.

Hiya mate, I thought it was just me that had problem with the time, The time on the thin strip bellow the sat Nav is 1 hour fast, have been wreaking my head trying to sort it. At least I know I'm not the only one now 😂😂 I was even thinking it might have something to do with the sat Nav disc as it's 2017 version and needs updated disc from what I can see, the only time I used it on trip to tramore it had me driving in fields for half the journey as none of the new roads are on it . But I'm same as you, hardly ever use it as use Google maps on fone 👍 handy to know about secret menu though cheers

The whole dang system shutoff on our 2010 Pilot last summer. No nav buttons work, rear camera is a no show and the screen is just dark like its got no power. The radio still works but the clock is off due to on/off DST. The clock will only sync when navi is working smh...

@@GPTV2020 Was thinking to take the Pilot into the dealership for diagnosis, but thought it'd be cheaper just to get a aftermarket backup camera instead. Is your LCD display turning on and showing the menu options and such still?

Yes everything still works perfectly, including back up camera. Just have a warning saying its out of date so it won't display the maps and can't change the time.

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mrVkrNuBmNelcoE.html Here is a video on how to set the clock but if you are having the same issues as is shown on this video well then you cannot fix the clock time, it is fixed by using the sat nav. The only way would be to remove the battery at 12 o'clock and reset it that way other wise bring it to honda to get the software updated.

I had this problem in Southern California in USA on my 2010 Honda Accord EX on the evening of 1/1/22. It was working just fine earlier that day for several hours on a freeway trip and then I noticed it jumped 1 hour ahead and I was unable to override it. Even brought the car in to Honda Service on 1/7. By that time it was exactly 3 hours behind, so I thought maybe the time zone had been incorrectly set...and they could not figure it out either. They reset the whole navigation system/disconnected the battery, etc, and it didn't matter. By 1/9, today, it started off at 12:00. Who came up with an 8 month delay in fixing this if that August 2022 is the correct estimate for a "database" correction by Honda? Should be "fixed" very soon; seems like a big glitch on their part somewhere in the clouds? lol. Anyone figure out another solution, please let me know. Thanks, Joseph

I went in the secret menu followed your video. Reset to factory settings I believe at the end. My point is after this did anyone have a problem with alarm going off for no reason my cabin light came on and my ABS light my break light my VSA . I'm having so much trouble after I watched this video my point is do you think it's connected.

I agree my car been going crazy past 2 weeks. I been trying everything to change the clock. I was actually super excited about the clock change this past week unfortunately after my alarm was going nuts that had to be removed and they unplugged the battery now it's 2 and half hours wrong ugh. Going to Honda on Monday all these lights are crazy

It sounds like the alarm could have been wired incorrectly or there is a problem with the wiring somehow! Honda doesn't have any fix for the clock yet, it is a problem with the satellite navigation system, there was an update done to the whole GPS and some cars have been affected, something like they added a number and some cars can only read a certain amount of numbers 🤷‍♂️

It is set the same way by using the satellite navigation system, so as you set the sat nav to the correct time the dash clock will set also. That is the only way to set it. But everyone is having the same issues right now.

Yes it's a very common problem with some satellite navigation systems, apparently, the GPS signal needed to add one number and changed on the 1st of January, and the sat nav in your car can't read anymore numbers so it just reset it's clock to 2002 or around that date. Honda know it's an issue and are trying to solve it.

Is there anyway to clear the phone book from the previous user? I’m not sure how to find a list of it & the cellular phone book isn’t allowing me access. However, voice command still has people listed.

Yes, I have made a video on how to pair your phone with hands-free Bluetooth, I am just about to upload it, but I also forgot to go over how to remove the previous owner's phones. however, during the first step, you can delete by pressing the call button and saying phone set up, when she tells you the options press the call button again and say delete. You can figure it out from there.

Yeah, I'm out an hour too, only way is the disconnect the battery at 12 and reconnect it, to reset the clock. But until honda fixes it, most of us will have this issue.

Hi, you will need to buy a digital aerial plug it inbto the back of the stereo and then you need to tune in the station. Different countries have different frequencies for radio and TV so depending on your country or frequencies you are trying to pick up will determine how it will work for you. Also in some vehicles the aerial needs to be placed outside the vehicle to pick up a signal. Hope this helps. Take care.

Also there are different plugs for different stereos, so i would take the stereo out take a picture of the socket for the Digital aerial and take note of the size of it, halfords do sell them, so you can check out the plug heads to match. Some of them can be just a very slight difference. You will get some of your local stations, bbc, ch4, you know.

I used'it once when i bought my car and never again, that's why we have smartphones and google maps :)).I don't intend to buy another DVD for the sat nav,i have some other things to do like sound deadening, already did the doors the music sounds better and next week i want to do all the floor and boot (trunk).

Yeah, i just use my phone when i need maps. Do you notice much difference now in the door speakers? The face accord has more sound deadening than the one i have (2009) mostly around the engine to lower engine noise.

Yes well it's part of it, i only noticed that during editing too, the software reset itself to 2002 when it hit midnight on the 31st of December 2021 just like the Y2K bug back in 2000. So the software has to be fixed by honda and it should fix everyone's problem at the same time then.

Hi mate, great videos been watching a while. Problem with my car wondering if youve heard yourself... The car dash cluster LCD (where you see miles on clock etc) has gone blank for me. The backlight for it works. It randomly comes back to life once in a blue moon but is mostly blank now. Any thoughts??

Hey thanks for your support, it sounds like one of the connectors is loose or broken but it also could be a power transistor, i would take the cluster out and see if the cables on the plugs going in to the cluster are cut or hanging out, then remove the plugs and see if they are loose or if the pins have dirt or something on them, clean them off, plug them back in and may be wiggle on the plug see if it is loose, maybe jam something in to hold it from moving around if it is loose, concentrate on the plug closest to the problem its possibly a green plug. Be careful of the air bag, its the yellow plugs, you won't need to get near them but it's best to disconnect the battery first just incase but it you chose not to, so you can see if your fix worked then just be careful.

Well there is a way to reset it by disconnecting the battery at 12am for one minute but i haven't bothered to do it yet, because my sat nav disc is out of date so it still wouldn't work correctly for me. They probably did that.

Did it work before January 1st?? I would think it wouldn't work, until you get a software update and install the European dvd you have, that European dvd needs to load in the information contained on the disc.

It is possible but only honda or a sat nav expert can do it. Maybe honda you visited don't have an expert on site. Try find someone like an auto electrician, they could possibly know how to do it.

Hello. Could You please give me advise? I have a Honda Accord 8 with NAVI system and I cannot understand, how to adjust the clock on the dashborad (not the SatNav clock, but this one which is diplayed on the narrow LED dashboard). I know that usually this option is available under radio button "6", but not in the NAVI version. I have checked a lot of manuals, but I just cannot find the answer..

Hi kim, it is adjusted with the navigation control just like i was trying to demonstrate in the video it will change the sat nav clock and the LCD clock but at the moment it is a problem with all hondas so there doesn't seem to be any fix for it. @@GPTV2020, hey! Thank You very much for Your response! Do I understand correctly, that there is no option to adjust the LCD clock separately? So, basically it means, that the LCD clock is connected directly to the SatNav clock in the NAVI system, right? Why I'm asking that is the strange thing I have with my LCD clock. As I have understood from other comments, the problem that NAVI owners have is that since January 1'st it's not possible to adjust the time zone. For example, if you live in Berlin (GMT +1 hour), your clock will show you the time without adding the +1 hour. I mean, hour value will be wrong, but minute value should be correct. Hope You understand what I mean, I'm sorry for my "perfect" English. But in my case both hours and minutes are wrong. For instance, if the actual time in Estonia (I'm from Tallinn) is 17:15 at the moment, then the LCD shows 02:28. OK, I could understand if only the hours value were wrong - for example. actual time is 17:15 and LCD clock shows 15:15 or smth because of the time zone issue. But why the minute value is also wrong if the case is only in the time zones? Or is it still so that both hours and minutes are now affected by the Honda's issue? Thank You in advance. I'm just trying to understand what is happening there...

Yes your right, but why your car has added minutes too im not sure, you could try disconnecting your battery and reconnecting it at 12:00 noon and see if that will reset the clock to 12:00 but it will reset your radio too so make sure you have your radio code number.

Interesting. Seems to point at a head unit problem, but maybe others are having the same issues and theirs brightness is set to high and can't be changed 🤔 so don't don't realise it, ill have a look at mine too when i get a chance.
