Netizens can make fun but no one can deny Akmu is a duo talented and creative . People can say anything but he can aford not to care and do what he likes because he has this foundation that is that he is trully talented and capabile to make original music.

The reason I’m so enamoured with AKMU, especially Chanhyuk is because everything they do is steeped with utmost sincerity and passion. They give everything their 200% when it comes to their craft and that’s what makes them so special and untouchable! I’ve always admired Chanhyuk’s philosophy and dedication to the arts - he’s a true wonder in this world. People can call it “GD disease” all they want but all I see is a man who gives all of himself to the beautiful songs he’s created! Now that’s Chanhyuk’s style!

Chanhyuk has always been like this, since the days of K-pop Star and AKMU’s pre-release songs he’s shown his true colors in performances and interviews, if anything I feel like now that he’s older and is more experienced he is allowing himself more freedom to enjoy the stage. I totally adore seeing him goofing around when performing, that is just one of his unique qualities as a performer, and it honestly helps me vibe more with the song and shows me how much he enjoys his work. I understand that maybe as a casual fan you can say that “he’s trying to imitate someone else”, but no, seeing him thoroughout the years you can see a gentle progression of his confidence in stage. I hope you can do a deeper piece on AKMU and how unique they and their artistry is, for they are much more than a meme.

Been a fan of AKMU since Kpop Star. Seeing how Chanhyuk changed and got confident makes me so happy. I hope he will continue to lead a life he wants to have. He deserves it. Let's be honest here, when AKMU debuted and even before, Chanhyuk looked like he was more deep/silent guy, he let Suhyun be in spotlight, but in interviews and short moments you could see that he has this funny and interesting character that he hidden before. Or maybe agency told him to 'tone it down'. Now, I think, he realises his worth, that he has an amazing gift, he proved it numerous times and he stopped caring about how people react to his nature, I hope he will do that in a future. He is an artist who is trying various ways to express himself. He is smart and witty, I love when he talks, there is always something to learn from him when he shows his thoughts. He kind of reminds me of Tablo. I hate how people call it 'GD disease' just because he acts in one way or another. To some it might sound funny, for me, it feels wrong. GD influence must be quite heavy in YG. The fact that akmu song is basically leaning into “folk”genre/vibes, and then they choose yg, is maybe not only because popularity of the agency that time. Lee chanhyuk clearly enjoys watching yg group especially their biggest act bigbang. And then the YG himself said that lee chanhyuk seemed like social outcast and prefer his sister might be also added to the pressure. It wont surprise me that he throw that descending remarks more than one occasion like he did when he said 2NE1 is ugly lot of times in the past. Then many of YG boy groups basically has similar “swaggy” vibes. Even Winner who is marketed as more laidback, lesss hiphop group, has “Mino” whose overall image is like the blend of gd, top and taeyang. It’s not difficult that lee chanhyuk secretly yearning that image too, added then the annoying remark from his boss. Then it all happened after he is back from military then back performing on stage. Wanna turn the new pages, being confident marine soldier and all. Resulted to the new persona of his. 😅😅 Tbh it’s all just my fool analysis. Like he is still young and clearly has gift to create amazing things. I honestly like his performance from their beginnigs. He did not look like social outcast just bcoz one of hiphop “has been” said him so. Honestly as a folk singer, preppy and neat look suit the songs best. But I also happy for him that he seems more confident and enjoy himself. He is still young. Eventually he will find his own path in performing. Chanhyuk already funny since debut, you can see his wittiness in 200%, i love you, play ugly, etc. It just they are mature now, they sang in more mature way but still in a witty. If you follow them since debut, you can really see they grow well and they enjoy singing on stage more.

Chanhyuk is truly one of the greatest composers and lyricists in Korea, and has been since their K-Pop Star days. I'd argue he's right up there with Tablo in terms of skill and creativity. He is also incredibly underrated and underappreciated. I'd argue that he and Suhyun are one of the most unique and talented groups in Korea, even if they fly under the radar for most international fans.

I think this video totally misses the point. Like …. the video creator just doesn’t get it. Chanhyuk has always been this way. He is quirky, and weird and unusual. That’s all part of his talent. He is a real artist. Also, you didn’t really stress how famous he and his sister are. They debuted in 2012. Very few artists in Kpop have a career this long. AKMU are HUGE. So yeh, he had a few viral meme moments. But they certainly don’t define his career. This video was dumb at best, and insulting at worst.

I am a huge SMTM fan. I watch it live when it airs in Korea when its the afternoon for me an 1-2 weeks later when its been subtitled. Season 777, 5 and 9 are the best. I really liked the apparence of Yg artist on this season.
