We decided that we needed more than the Solar Flex 600i we ordered with our rig. We knew we wanted to upgrade to the Solar Flex 1200i package so we reached out to Keystone RV for some advice. Keystone advised working with Future Solutions for the upgrade since they design the solar flex for Keystone. They helped us get in touch with Future Solutions and Dragonfly Energy to get the upfit done and show you all just how easy it really is. We just know that this easy Solar Flex Upgrade will make and incredible difference. We partnered with Future Solutions for equipment necessary for the upgrade, they also completed the install and were awesome enoughto let us video to show just how easy the upgrade was. We also partnered with Dragonfly Energy to switch out our 3 100Ah batteries for a 270Ah and then add a second 270Ah for the upgrade. We can't wait to hit the road with our 1200w Solar Flex and see just what it will do and share that info with you all! People get caught up in the solar panel wattage thinking it is the power. Solar panels don’t power much of anything directly. It’s how much sunlight they can collect and send through the charge controller to store in the batteries. The batteries send DC current to the Inverter that converts it to 120volts ac power for your electrical. The lights still operate from battery 12v DC. The battery storage capacity determines what can be powered and for how long, The solar wattages will determine how fast the batteries can be recharged depending on how much sun. We have: 2200W of Solar Panels (8) 6 - 100AH BattleBorn Lithium Batteries (600AH) 3000W Victron MuliPlus Inverter (Every outlet is hot and every appliance can be powered on, not all at once ofcourse. We can run an AC at least five+ hours before needing to recharge. You would be using more power from the batteries to the inverter than the solar is able to put in. Is solar worth it? Absolutely if you boondock or camp at unpowered sites. If you camp at hook up sites you don’t need solar. An extension cord at home will keep rig batteries charged. If you camp places where you are shaded or like shady cool spots then solar doesn’t really work for you. If you use your power heavily and hit cloudy snd rainy days then solar recharge will be greatly diminished. Generators are always a good backup plan. We want to upgrade to more storage capacity. If there isn’t enough sunlight in a day to fully recharge the batteries we always have a generator as backup.

We are really enjoying the solar. It has saved us a lot of gas which is helping on the $$$ especially the way the gas prices are now

Congrats on your solar upgrade. I just finished a self solar/battery upgrade myself. 4320W of solar and 1200Ah which will soon be upgraded to 1600Ah. Running A/Cs will show you how much solar and batteries you need if you want to do that. I did hence the nuclear plant. Hope to see you guys again soon

Great video! I live out west and in my next trailer I want to have a Gen for my air conditioners and a good battery bank/solar for the rest. I can't see using battery for everything if you want the air on as much as I do.. But hey, let me know what works for y'all!

We run our a/c and we generally have enough solar to get through, but if it’s really hot or cloudy and the batteries start running low, we run the gen, it’ll run the a/c and charge the solar if needed.

When you start with solar, you get addicted to it and you always want more... What will stop you is the real-estate in and on your RV to put the panels , batteries and the needed paraphernalia (inverter, solar controllers...)

Their solar package is composed of top end components, designed to be expandable. That should serve you well.

Did you already have A/C soft start? If so, which one did you have installed? I definitely want to upgradey 200i SOLARFLEX.

I can try to find out which one was installed. Our 600i was installed at the factory which came with a soft start in the bedroom

Did you have to do anything special to the rv just to put in lithium batteries? We don’t want the solar stuff but would like to have lithium but we are not sure if they will come equipped out of the manufacturer with lithium in it.

You can put a lithium battery in place of the lead acid. As far as charging them up you will need an inverter to use your outlets

Just picked up our new Fuzion with the 400i system and two lead acid batteries. I can tell I'll really like the system, but I already want to upgrade it. I'm trying to figure out what's the next "easy" upgrade. I know a battery upgrade would be the easiest. I'm thinking three 270amp lithium batteries would be a nice upgrade to the existing system, but $3,000! Pay to play right.

Congratulations on your new Fuzion. Yes batteries would be a great upgrade, however if you only have 400 watts of panels you wont have enough to charge your 3 270 amp batteriest back up without using the generator or shore power. When you said $3000.00 for batteries I hope you meant per battery!!! Good luck you are going to love being able to boondock wherever you like!!

Our Keystone Sprinter has the 400 package and I immediately upgraded to two lithium batters that gave us 600AH of power. Those batteries are now half the price so spend some time shopping as the prices have dropped way down. Upgrade the battery but wait and get used to camping with it and do your research. Now one year later I am upgrading to the Multiplus hybrid inverter. I want the flexibility of booking a 30 amp or 50 amp spot at a park. I see so may campgrounds with no 50 amp availability but they have 30 amp available. I am holding off on upgrading the solar panels till they come down in price and they have started dropping over the last few months. Hope that helps!

@@cbbomar1117 Good batteries are defiantly on the top of my list. I'm very limited by the small door on my battery compartment, but I think I can get a pair of 300hrs in it. I have seen were inverter technology is advancing really quickly, that is great advice. Thanks for the tips.
