We are thrilled to have introduced the most powerful and flexible factory-installed RV solar power systems on the market, now available on each and every Keystone RV model. Every Keystone brand comes equipped with SolarFlex 200 as standard equipment, but many of our brands offer the SolarFlex 400i package as an option.
This versatile and robust system packs a lot of punch for a relatively low investment. SolarFlex 400i gives owners enough power to experience true off-grid camping and is prepped for some serious expansion if you decide you’re ready to up your boondocking game.
The SolarFlex 200 package allows owners to use energy straight from the battery to power all of the coach’s 12V systems like the slides, water pump, lights and 12v refrigerators. With the 400i package we’ve added 2000-watt inverter that modifies the energy stored in the battery to AC power for 110v outlets. AC power is what’s used for common appliances like coffee makers, televisions & CPAP machines.
In addition to adding the inverter, everything else about this package is scaled up:
-- 2, 200-watt monocrystalline solar panels on the roof with locking MC4 connectors
-- 2, 30 amp roof ports
-- 30 amp Victron charge controller
-- Victron SmartShunt battery monitor which provides visibility for owners to monitor their available energy and energy reserves via the Victron Connect smartphone app
-- Zamp portable panel side port.
We’ve talked before about how your batteries are like the gas tank for any solar power system. With 400 watts of solar on the roof, and an appropriately sized battery bank, SolarFlex 400i is more than ready to get campers off the grid. While SolarFlex 400i is designed to work with lead acid, AGM and Lithium-ion, all solar power systems will always operate the most efficiently with Lithium-ion batteries.
If you’re interested in adding lithium-ion batteries to your SolarFlex system, Keystone RV dealers now carry best-in-class Dragonfly Energy heated 100 amp hour lithium-ion batteries. When you have the chance, watch our video on the differences between lead acid vs. lithium ion batteries. You can find that on KeystoneRV.com or on our KZfaq channel.
But here’s the kicker -- SolarFlex 400i was designed to be the MOST flexible of all of the SolarFlex packages. If you start off-grid camping and decide you want to go a little harder, we’ve designed in lots of ways for you to scale up your system with components that can be shipped to your dealer within a few days.
Expansion options:
-- Easily add a Zamp Portable Panel to the pre-wired side port
-- If there is enough real estate on your RV’s roof, add two additional 200-watt or even two 300-watt panels to your system using the second 30amp roof port
-- If you want to add solar powered AC, SolarFlex 400i is already prepped with a second inverted loop for the main air conditioner. All you need to do is to add a second inverter and an A/C that is equipped with soft start.
You can find more detail about expansion options on the SolarFlex 400i page of the Keystone RV website: www.keystonerv.com/solarflex-...
Thanks for taking the time to learn more about SolarFlex 400i. We believe this will be our best-selling SolarFlex package - it’s an incredible value, has everything you need to get off the grid from the start, and can be easily scaled up for some serious boondocking capabilities if -- and when -- you’re ready.
Just another way Keystone RV helps you Camp Better!

A video with some details about how to use the system would make a much much better marketing video. For example, what's involved in installing a LiFePO4 battery in the pass-thru (which is where everyone will want it)? Why are there 2 battery cutoff switches on the tongue, and which one (if either) needs to be ON for the solar to charge the battery? What needs to be done to get the microwave working off the invertor (desired by 90+% of owners, unlike Air Cond, which nearly nobody will do)? Walk us through the process of setup & usage -- cutoff switches to ON, invertor to ON, pull up the app to check battery state, ongoing monitoring of charging, etc. Not seeing these usage details enormously detracts from the appeal.

Good morning, and thank you for your feedback. We will send this video recommendation over to the proper team, as this is great feedback! We are always looking to add videos to the solar library. We do have 10 thus far, but as we get questions and feedback we look to see how we can add more information!

Would be nice if these videos had more details. I have a 2022 Cougar 22MLS with this 400i system but the owners manual has very little detail on this system and dealers are to busy to help you out properly. For example how do we use the Zamp external inlet? Which type of Zamp Portable panel do I need? How do you install the extra inverter? What is required to install the extra solar panels? How do you use the Apps? How many batteries are needed to support operating of the AC unit all day or Furnace overnight? I could go on and on... It would be better if your FAQ list for this system included more specific information like this.

I recently purchased a 2022 hideout 272 with the solar flex 200. Attempting to install the inverter myself but there are no videos from keystone on this. Further, the inverter loop wire in the inverter prep area is huge compared to the load wires of most 2000 watt inverters. A video would help alot

Recently purchased a unit with solarflex 200. This unit comes with inverter prep. We have not been able to find any information on what to do with the looped wire in the inverter prep box. I understand the wire is cut. Does that mean all wire are then attached to the back of the inverter. I know this must be a simple answer but we can not find it.

If i may suggest - and you seem open to suggestions - how a bout a viceo on the capital grille. NOT one on youtube - would love to see a demo video. Also on the solar front - are you providing a lithium compatible converter/charger - i know i was asked to send my VIN when i posted before - but for prospective customers - it woudl be nice to know if the upgrade to the 400i includes a plug and play solution for lithium - to me something anyone going above the standard package will want to look at.

How much might a Solar Flex 400i system with all Lithium batteries add to the hitch weight of a Keystone Outback Ultra-lite? The reason this may become increasingly important is that your Keystone Ultra-lite series appears to be towable by an F-150 Lightning Lariat, which has a 10K towing rating and a max payload of 1800 pounds. This same customer who goes for an electric truck may be more likely to want solar off-grid capabilities for their towable. Clearly there are many variables at play, so a ballpark range would be helpful. Perhaps you could do a video HOW TO re-calculate hitch weight based on solar package upgrades, including inverters, panels, batteries, and the placement of all these on your RV. Thanks for your work in producing these helpful videos!!!

I have the solar flex 400. I want to add 2 30watt pannels to the second 30 amp roof port. My question is wont i need to bump up the second charge controller to a bigger one. Example a victron 100/50. Will that be an issue running a victron 100/30 for the factory 400watt pannel string and a 100/50 for the new second string on pannels?

My daughter just purchased a sprinter tt and I was wondering why there is not any disconnect for the solar i400, because if you disconnect the batteries and you have full sun on the panels they will burn up the charge controller and render it useless.

In September 2021 I bought a Keystone Carbon 338. It is "solar ready" with two MC4 plugs on the roof, but it did not come with solar panels (2021 model). The wiring from the plugs to the battery compartment is 10 gauge. My plan is to buy two 12 volt 210 watt panels, wire them in series, which will double the voltage to 24 volts, keeping amperage the same as only one panel (12.35 amps). I want to locate both panels (wired in series) close to one of the roof plugs. My question is, will the factory installed 10 gauge wire be sufficient to handle the amperage (12.35 amps)? Also, I am aware that increasing the voltage to 24 volts will carry additional risks of wiring arcing if the insulation is damaged, a nick in the wiring insulation.

Thank you for your inquiry. Keystone provides the basic needs for solar prep only and anything outside of that, we would not be able to advise on. However, if you are needing assistance with set up recommendations, you may seek what other owners have done or recommendations through your selling dealership for other options as well. Thank you!

I recently purchased a 2019 Passport Elite 19RB solar ready. Can the solar/inverter be installed to allow use of the existing outlets on AC specifically to power a CPAP? If so who can help me. Dealer is slow to respond and seemingly unsure.

Good morning, and thank you for your inquiry. On your unit, the solar would be prepped to charge the battery only. So you'd have to speak with an RV professional who is familiar with the electrical systems, and installation of solar panels etc... The outlets would not be inverted outlets in this unit, so there would be quite a bit of modifications needed to the RV electrical system to make this happen. We wouldn't have any videos on this, so it'd be best to work with someone locally who specializes in this field. Thank you.

When connecting portable solar panels to the zamp port, do the panals require their own controller or is it all controlled through the victron controller?
@KeystoneRVCompany
@KeystoneRVCompany 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Corey, thank you for your inquiry. No you do not need a separate controller, the Victron controller works for the roof mount and portable both. However, some of the aftermarket panels come with their own controller/inverter, so you'd have to verify if that is the case when shopping around. Thank you.

I have the solar flex 400i package with includes and extra box on it with another battery switch in addition to the giggi box with a battery cutoff. In a video done by Josh the RV nerd he referred to this extra box as the “C-flow battery switch.” I am wondering what exactly it does and why it is there. It looks like it just shuts off power to the 2000watt inverter and it draws some power from the batteries even if the inverter is shut off and not in use. Im a little confused as to it full functionality since it is not the giggi box.
@KeystoneRVCompany
@KeystoneRVCompany 2 жыл бұрын
@@cory5890 Thank you for clarifying. C-flow as a term isn't something we are familiar with. You have an inverter disconnect and a 12V disconnect in the Giggy Box with the build of your unit. Does the solarflex 200 system require a transfer switch and a invertor or just an invertor?
@KeystoneRVCompany
@KeystoneRVCompany 2 жыл бұрын
Good morning, the SolarFlex 200 would only need a charge controller unless you have inverted outlets you'd like to use. From the factory, if included with the unit, it will have a 30A solar roof port, a Future Solution 200-watt solar panel, a 15A Victron SmartSolar controller, inverted 110v loop prep with up to 7 outlets (inverter is not included for this specifically), and lastly, a Zamp Solar portable solar side port.
@idiocracy5114

@@KeystoneRVCompany Does the inverter need to be a pass through inverter/charger, this is the only way it makes sense to add a inverter to the inverter prep(which is a A/C wire loop that has to be cut and the hot side needs to be wired to the input in the inverter and the output side of the inverter you connect the other side of the wire that was cut)

I purchased a 2022 Cougar 25RDS with a 600i-L Solarflex package. The dealer knows nothing about it, how it works, or even the components involved and how to use the system. It is installed in the passthrough, which makes access extremely difficult. I cannot run my AC on solar power, even though the Victron battery shunt app showed a 100% fully charged battery (270AH Dragonfly LiFePO4) and a 14.6 voltage level. I checked the system troubleshooting document and it referred to a battery disconnect switch that I don't even have installed on my unit.; and said to contact my dealer. That would be a waste of time. I emailed Owner Relations several days ago but have received no answer yet. Why can I not find any info such as this video on the 600i-L system? My inverted 120-volt outlets all work just fine, and the AC works well on shore power. Like I said, I don't even have a 12 volt disconnect switch, only the red inverter switch in the passthrough. This is just another problem in the string of problems that I have has since taking possession of the trailer on April 8. My iN-Command Commander panel went out 4 days after my receiving my unit, while I was on a trip. I'm glad my iN-Command iPhone app was able to control everything so I could get home. I took it to the dealer for that and a few minor problems and they had it for 1 day shy of 6 weeks. When I finally got it back, the Commander has worked fine. Now it is the AC on battery power. This is the main reason that I purchased the Cougar with the upgraded Solar package. I have a very expensive boat anchor installed in my pass through if I cannot get someone at Keystone to respond to my inquiries and questions. I don't want anything other than what I paid for to work. We won't even discuss the TPMS system in the Towing with Confidence package that I bought but did not get. Got the Goodyear tires, but no complete TPMS. I'm kind of tired of talking about this and getting no results.

OK. I just bought one of these trailers. The batteries are LiFePo4 NOT lithium ion. Says so right on the battery. Even in this video he suggests he's kneeling next to a lithium ion battery while "LiFePo4" is clearly visible on the side of the label. And no, they aren't the same thing. One would assume they know this.
@ShelbyvsViper
@ShelbyvsViper 7 ай бұрын
He is sitting next to a Lithum Iron battery. LiFePO4 batteries are often regarded as the safer of the two due to their chemistry, which is less prone to overheating or exploding. By contrast, while lithium-ion batteries are generally safe when used properly, they have been known to overheat and catch fire if they are damaged or improperly handled. Therefore, LiFePO4 batteries are often preferred in applications where safety is a major concern like solar power systems, electric vehicles, and industrial equipment.
