Brady Tkachuk was not happy about this empty net goal from the New Jersey Devils captain Nico Hischier as the Ottawa Senators captain took exception. #nhl #hockey #ottawasenators

@@V.O.Y.S. yeah I understand snapshots into empty nets are disrespectful but when you plan a goalie pull and you play tight defence with consideration of the goalie pull and remaining time, it seems sort of petty to have your team put it into the net after the whistle, you weren't strong enough to brake the defence during regulation, why disrespethe teams good efforts like that.

People call hockey "soft" because of changes to make it more scorer-friendly, banning dangerous hits, etc... I think the oafish blind adherence to the "code" for the sake of defending against perceived disrespect is the softest thing ever. Brady Tkatchuk is the biggest example of a guy who focuses way too much on being a tough guy, and way too little on being a good leader and a better hockey player. Guy's IQ is inflation-proof.

Tkachuk is certainly a good entertainer, but he he has created this image of fiery, caring player. No, he just wants to be noticed. KInda reminds of Torterella coaching. Great entertainer, but no so much a good coach.

@Implicit THIS! Thank you! I've been noticing this for so long. It's really been getting out of hand these past few seasons. Between this,and starting fights after perfectly clean hits,it's ridiculous! Even though the NHL is the best hockey league in the world by far,with the best players,it's getting harder and harder to take the NHL seriously as time goes by. I feel like it's shifting away from actual hockey,and becoming "hockey entertainment"

Leafs fan born and raised so for me to have to say this is something lol How are they the same at all?? 😅 Reilly came flying in with a huge cross-check to the head. All Tkachuk did was skate to him and they bump together. That isn't worth a penalty let alone a 5 game.

@joshuaneal7552Ай бұрын
This is ridiculous. Number one... you are professional hockey players. If empty netters like that hurt your feelings, then hockey is not for you. Tkachuk... first of all, it was a close game until the end, so you simply cannot claim it was "showing you up." Rielly... again, a close game until the end... the slapper was not disrespectful or unsportsmanlike. It was celebratory, and there is no reason any human should get upset at that. Even if were disrespectful, get over it. And it's unthinkable that guys get upset when guys shoot at an empty net after a whistle. There is zero reason to get offended at that. I don't see guys in the NBA get mad when an opponent shoots the ball after a whistle at a net and not a person. Regardless, my advice to you is: When you perceive someone as being "mean" to you, just ignore it. Grow up. Smh, the NHL to day... babies on the ice, board ads, gambling being shoved down our throats.... I think I'm done.
@henrymanzano2201Ай бұрын
Brady Tkachuk is such a clown. If anything,Nico Hischier was being classy. He knew the game was over,so he wasn't gonna run up his own stats,or the score,and humiliate Ottawa further. So he put it in the net AFTER the buzzer sounded. So what? Maybe it's something he learned in Switzerland,coming up as a kid? Maybe he's leaving it there for the refs? Maybe the people who say this league has gotten "soft" are RIGHT- but not for the reasons they think. Too many players, ESPECIALLY North American ones,are WAY too "in their feelings" nowadays,just LOOKING for reasons to fight in order to restore their fragile little egos (ironic, considering it was these very same Devils who line-brawled the Rangers a week ago because of Rempe's elbow on Siegenthaler,and these same Ottawa Senators,who had to fight the Maple Leafs because Toronto was in their feelings over something similar)
@paulhainsworth6547Ай бұрын
I've never played the game but the Devils player could have shot to score but just ran the clock out. I don't see any issue with this at all. The slapper was excessive and will always get a reaction but this is just an upset player who lost. Grow up!

That's personally why I like Matthew more as a player, Brady throws tantrums like this pretty commonly. Granted he's stuck on the Senators, so I can't fault him entirely. It's just ironic that they're mad about an empty net after putting in a slapshot from the crease a few games prior.
