You can use a merropcb and buy an o ring and drop it in. For the best effect, you would need to dremel off the standoffs. Or.. just use kbdfans standoff covers for a "close enough" effect kbdfans.com/r?id=k4acmq. I think these come standard with tofus now, though.

Loved your storytelling and reasoning for this being your endgame. :) At the end of the day, you can always just let it be a sleeper board that people underestimate as a tofu, and whether you reveal it's actually a unikorn or just give them a knowing smile, I think that's even more powerful ;) Congrats on endgame! 🎉🎊

Obscure. This is one of the reasonings I want to have for my inevitable endgame keyboard. There's too many people getting in on the custom mechanical keyboard scene now, even though its a good thing.

Definitely. I can appreciate a high qty Vega cuz it’s a good all around keyboard, but when I want to reach “endgame” and quit buying, I doubt I’d be happy with Walmart brand. I want something unique, rare, and personal. I think most people can understand that. Like a kbd67 lite is a banger value but having a board that is “enough” for you doesn’t necessarily qualify it as a grail board. It needs to be at least KIND OF hard to get. If it were easy, it would be called a purchase - not an endgame.

@@jamirvillarosa7924 Should be a good starter board. I'm waiting for my ciel (bakeneko) to arrive within q1. I have the high pitch secured now but I want that deep sounding board at some point. The phase one 65 would have been a great endgame. The price, functionality, and prototype issues just scared me away though.

I'm lucky enough to have never really caught the "endgame" bug. I've found that my favourite thing is finding a bargain and giving a second hand board a new home. For me the idea that this inanimate object has a story, perhaps even several owners, is somehow more special than dropping cash on a limited production board. It's kinda dumb but it's allowed me to save some money at least. :) So now I kind of just observe the hobby from afar. I do sometimes get the itch to build some of the really weird things like the Reviung though.

@@AndyVNguyen The yellow is great, by the way! I used to be very into minimal, monochromatic things adorning my desk but more recently I've been wanting big splashes of bold colour. Lime green, hot pink, cyan, things like that. This video made me want to paint my ancient GH60 no-named case bright yellow lol

I used a Mechlovin' Jay60 PCB with a carbon fiber half plate on my Unikorn and it gives it just that much extra flex that makes it *chef's kiss*. It's definitely worth trying a flex cut PCB on the Unikorn if you haven't. I might try a full plate with that PCB to see how it changes the sound and feel.

Is so poorly stocked and shipped that you have to make special arrangements with your bank and break a sweat trying to refresh a webpage to order 2. Is so shoddily made the first time around that it *yellows* with use 3. Makes you agree to an ugly color you admittedly don't even like because you have to *come to an agreement with another customer just to get your clearly defective and shitty board replaced* 4. Does not come with arrow keys you clearly need 5. Ends up with a sound you call "interesting" 6. Costs $500 for the privilege Endgame. You could not catch me getting past "ZOMG GET IT WITHIN 2 SECONDS OF RELEASE AND THE NON-UGLY COLORS SELL OUT EXTRA *EXTRA* FAST." I would not pay $9 for a sandwich that was sold to me that way let alone pay $500 for a keyboard. If it's not currently in stock, for sale, ready to ship, you are not buying a product you are buying artificial scarcity. Stop normalizing letting *plastic mold* companies treat you this way lmao.

I am in the that small group that enjoys brass plates. For some reason the higher pitch sounds like an instrument lol. I used it when I first got into the hobby and enjoyed the feel.and sound since. Even I won't use it, I almost always get a brass plate in most of my boards.

Same here, my daily driver keyboard has a brass plate but I'm also firmly in the tactile gang so I end up not caring about flex that you get with a PC or FR4 plate. I also have similarly built keyboards that are of various plastic construction but they're just not as good in my personal experience.

I have always loved the e-yellow color and always wished it would come with more boards, and i really really like this color, the black works pretty well actually. but i would recommend picking up gmk lux from mm to really show off the board

I do the same fake arrows on the bottom right :P Only thing it messes me up on is the super quick "?" with right shift, I realized I never used right shift other than when I typed out a question mark lol. I think the e-yellow is kinda rad with the black. Dope vid as always Andy.

yeah i set the split rshift (fn) to "toggle" fake arrows. so when i'm done i turn it off. i do type w rshift a lot i just try to make a conscious effort to remind myself that if i'm using arrows, make GO TO WORK and stop chatting lol thanks for the kind words brendan!

Apropos the Tofu, I've been thinking about it. Coincidentally also in e-Yellow. Is the case any good? I've got a ymdk 60%, millmax-hotswapped to iso, need proper stabs since the gmk's suck ass. And Gateron Milky yellows or cap yellows for use with a pom polycarb plate.

My Certina DS Action Precidrive ended my watch addiction (or at least temporarily, but maybe forever who knows). It's obviously very far from "end-game" in that space, but it absolutely ticks all the boxes for me personally, is a quality "do everything" piece, and isn't obscenely expensive so that I can use it as intended instead of babying it. I just really hope I'll find the same sweetspot with a keyboard somewhat soon, before this stuff takes too much time and money 🤣 It's kindoff a weird phenomenon this, getting addicted to watching reviews, browsing websites, reading about stuff in detail that average people would never think or care about. Becoming an enthusiast. The search is the the hobby in my experience. But it's nice reaching end-game as well.

for me the endgame was the d65 poly with a poly plate and full foam + a thich deskmat... its soft to type and so silent i love it so i had stopped buying keyboard for the last 3 yrs XD

Thank you for for your hard work as a content provider here on KZfaq. This is the first time I have found your channel and this is the first video of yours I have watched. I was researching mechanical tkl and 65% keyboards and this video of yours popped up. I need to say that I have had tremendous difficulty trying to watch your video. Your rate of speech is so incredibly fast I have had tremendous difficulty understanding what your saying especially since you are talking about technical lingo and jargon specific to this niche community. Maybe if I was already familiar with this hobby and the technology and the manufacturers like your subscribers I might be able to piece some of it together, but all I could make out is that you seem to be happy that you got a super rare yellow keyboard that has a gold unicorn symbol stamped on the bottom, why I don't know. Anyway just thought you might be interested to know what a new viewer thought and how blazingly fast you speak.

You can smooth out the black ink v2s that are scratchy the same way you can mx blacks

Yeah I’m glad I did it when I did too. Nowadays it’s way too hard to sell. Back then you were almost guaranteed to get retail back. Now there’s tax implications too so it gets complicated

I have a couple of e white boards but don’t use them as daily. We’re you able to figure out what causes the yellowing?

My e-white Vega was used more than the Korn and it did not yellow. I wouldn't worry about it from other manus.

@@AndyVNguyen no case foam. I did double layer of the scotch tape mod and also added o rings to make it burger mount.

Ah tape will do the fix. Try the force break mod ppl are talking about. Tape in between case top/bottom in between screw locations. Might be able to rid that minimal hollowness
