Same. I know it's a cute Christmas rom-com so I let it slide, but Abby was way too forgiving. If anything, I would have given Riley a chance lmao she's a good person. Totally not because she's portrayed by Aubrey Plaza or anything.

@@KristinaEspinoza Harper may have been a bad girlfriend to Abby. As I’m not defending or excusing her actions or anything, but I don’t think she was as bad as other characters. In movies and shows that did way worse things to their partner or loved one, than what Harper even did to Abby or Riley. But some people still wants those characters a happy ending or a second chance, despite all the crappy things they done to someone they loves and care for. I don’t think that Harper was as bad as she was as some of other, toxic characters in romance or couples in any genre movies or shows.

Even though I know that there were ṟed flag, that Harper was a terrible and horrible girlfriend. I don’t think she was technically a bad partner or person to Abby, but I believe that she was that bad of a partner to Abby. For lying about coming out to her family, but I just think Harper never really find the right time to tell. Because of her sister Sloane was the one who ruined it for her. I was more mad that Sloane would do that to her sister, more than mad or disappointed with Harper for deny it she homosexual. Like ok, what Harper did to Riley was wrong on her side. But what Sloane did to Harper, she did it for no absolutely reason at all.

Sloane outing Harper to their family at a big event like that in front of a crowd was completely out of line, I agree. That was probably one big detail of the story that really bothered me. That's never an okay thing to do to someone, especially your sister. I don't even think I remember her actually apologizing for that. They should have included something in there, because her confessing her secret of being separated is great - but doesn't make up for the fact that she outed Harper. I really appreciate your insight!

@@KristinaEspinozaExactly, I know that Harper did wrong with Riley. But what Sloane did was uncalled for, as she does no reason to do that to Harper. As I believe Sloane almost ruined Harper relationship Abby, even though I know it was Harper who ruined it by denying. But Sloane was one who just want ruined it, over their parents affection.

I think my opinion I don’t think that Harper was that, unlikable character or even that hateable to be honest. I just think that her character wasn’t written that well and made her a bad guy, pretty much for no reason as I think that was kind of pretty lame. That the writer make Abby more likeable and more relatable to her character, and didn’t give Harper any proper development in the whole damn story. Which I think the movie could have been done better, by focus more Abby and Harper character as a couple. Rather painting Harper as a bad girlfriend and we forced to dislike her, while we forced sided with Abby and Riley because we suppose too. While we get no focus on Harper character to see how she is feeling, putting her girlfriend through all that or feeling bad making Abby doing this. As we no scene what Harper doing.

I think this movie was ok, I think the plot was all over the place. I think story would be work better, if this was a TV series as the story could’ve been flushed a little bit better. As I think the movie rushes to quick and plot-line seem either missing or not put in, Harper being chewed out by her older sister seems lazy and bad way or Harper. To get a taste of her medicine and her sister as Sloane, didn’t have a good enough reason to do to her. Also the ended could have done a little better as I feel like, all the characters need to be flushed out or at least. Give Harper little bit more focus in the story, not just Abby.

I don’t think that Harper was the problem, I think Abby is the problem as I think. She kinda weak of a person in my opinion, because she keep on accepted and agreed to everything. I don’t think Harper was even try that hard, convincing Abby to do anything or everything. I mean, Harper didn’t have or need to manipulated Abby. (It not she a abuser of a person or anything.) But Abby just quickly accepted it without, a second thought for she made a decision. Like when she finally decided to leave, after the crap she gone through and everything. She quickly to accept to stay, after Harper ask her too without. Any real effort to convince her. Abby only decided to leave for good, after she finally see the real Harper. And she again accepted Harper apology and forgave her, without Harper even have try hard to convince Abby. She also forgiven the twin kids for what, they to her and accepted their apology. Honestly, I couldn’t feels that sorry for Abby, if she was that easy to convince. By not a good person that didn’t, need to try that hard to convince her. I don’t think Harper a manipulator, because she never force Abby into anything. Abby just easily accept and agreed to it. Sure Harper maybe a terrible person, but she isn’t that of bad person. She just made a bad decision in her life, even though she it doesn’t excuse. What she had done to Riley in the past, but she isn’t perfect and she isn’t evil neither.

I do agree with you that Abby was way too willing to do things/forgive despite how it would hurt herself in the long run. I'm still shifty on Harper but I think that's only because I, personally, wouldn't be like Abby was, so your point still stands that Abby had her own issue throughout the movie of just accepting everything and not voicing her opinion until things reached a boiling point like the argument in Harper's room or at the White Christmas party. It's so interesting to hear both sides, people who think either Harper or Abby were at fault. I do think they definitely have a healthier relationship by the end though! Or at least that's how the Instagram feed made it look lol

I never thought of that, but I think you are right. All through the movie, Abby just listen and take what she is told. I don’t think stood her ground, until going towards the end of the film. And then she go back and she quickly forgive Harper, as I agree that Harper didn’t really manipulate her into in. She just asked and Abby agreed to go.

I'm having fun catching up with your channel as a new subber! This movie was just recently added to netflix in my country, so I finally got to see it! What a ridiculous shitshow 😂 I've always loved christmas romcoms (and yes, even the classic It's a wonderful life), but the non-stop straight couples have really gotten old. So even though the few queer christmas movies we have still follow the same hetero script, it's a least a bit more fun and relatable. kinda. haha

I'm so glad you're enjoying my reactions! It means a lot. And I totally get what you mean! I tried explaining to one of my family members that it feels different when you see yourself or your community represented in a film/media which has been a majority of 'straight couples' for decades. It gives a nice warm feeling to live vicariously through queer couples on screen. You feel more seen.
