No unfortunately it's just grind heavy gacha but it's got a ton of great designs in it and they do great crossover events. They just recently had one for GaoGaiGar, maybe he'll end up in VS later.

I’m surprised there aren’t more fighting games doing animation like this. This Vanillaware Spine style animation where you can take high fidelity 2D art and animate it on a skeletal rig instead of drawing every frame. Like it’d be cool to get 2D fighting games with drawn art that looks as nice as games like this and Dragon’s Crown.

I just know Getter Robo, Mazinger Z and Dancouga are in base roster. Theres a video on Getter on Iron Saga's youtube showing that you have a style change pretty much with changing from Getter1/2/3 which is dope

Or a Super Robot Wars fighting game. This game looks like it might be shaping up to be the Super Robot Wars fighting game they never made. But they’re like that with a lot of stuff. It’s weird there was never a Project X Zone (or Namco × Capcom) fighting game...from either Bandai or Capcom. It’s weird there’s never been some Marvel vs Capcom style 2D Jump crossover fighting game. And it’s weird they haven’t made a Jump crossover platform fighting on consoles since they’re the studio that made the last two Smash Bros. games.

@@angelriverasantana7755 If it has to be 2d then it's almost impossible. That's an unrealistic request. But 3d is fine... not very likely but it's possible at least. The problem is that Gundam (and many other animes) is a franchise that became much more fitting and appealing to 3rd person style arena fgs, once the technology allowed those kind of games. Before that, the usual path for animes would be a traditional 2d fg. The same story of DBZ, that got many 2d fgs over the 90s and early 00s, then it became much more prominent in arena fgs after the innovative DBZ Tenkaichi games.

@@DIOBrando-ij2bp To be honest that is not "weird". Sorry but that comment is just showing a big passion for a genre of games and a lack of unbiased self awareness. Because after the 90s the hype and fame of the fg genre had a serious drop, and other genres became preferred for 3rd party licenses over traditional 2d fgs. Then 2d fgs became the real niche it is beyond any doubts. Also the 3d tech standards of the 00s already allowed the flashiness that some franchises needed, which made other gaming genres more appealing to work with most of them. Please remember that DBZ in practical terms still is a franchise stuck to 3rd person type of games... and DBFZ was a miraculous exception. Like, DBZ used to get a lot of 2d fgs in the 90s but then DBZ Tenkaichi's innovative "arena fg" formula stole the DBZ franchise from the 2d fg genre.

Interesting, but unfortunately it's on mobile, so it will never look interesting enough in my eyes. But anyways this game reminds me that mecha/robot 2d fgs became very rare. In the 90s there were some Gundam 2d fgs, and the Power Rangers megazord 2d fg, and Capcom's own Cyberbots, etc... But after the 00s they became rare. I believe that must be the result of the huge 3d tech growth from the 00s that motivated companies to prefer using Mecha anime franchises in any other genres (especially late ps2 to ps3 era).
