My parents have used one of these for as long as I can remember. This year the torch was passed to me as my dad isn’t in the best of health. As he was watching me plant, I kept asking him if I was doing it right because it seemed too easy. This tool is just amazing. Thanks for the great videos!

Josh Earthway nice machine. I used to have a broadcast spreader buy them. Grandpa it was very gassy LMFAO . You're just a funny guy Josh. Prairie dog. Haha . That machine is awesome I think it's a total back saver I mean who wants to sit there and put the seeds in by hand I think it's a great machine and the fact you can still buy the desks on Amazon is fantastic I give it a go. I always look forward to watching your videos they're very exciting and very entertaining and a lot of learning information from my family and my kids thank you for continuing to not swear on your channel. Big thumbs up ! Mike

Josh, I've used one of these in the past and they do work great. If you find that it's planting a little bit closer together than what you prefer, you can put a little piece of masking tape over every other little cup in your plate and it will Skip and plant things a little further apart if you decide you would like it too. I think we used to do that with the corn plate especially because I felt like it planted it a little bit closer together than I wanted.

What's funny is that I did a video on the same EarthWay planter (new version) not long ago, and to see your grandfather's and how little they have changed the design... If you would like to see the latest version of it, it is on my channel... Pretty cool to see the older one in action... One difference is the new one does not have the dropout hole that caused you to lean the planter... Otherwise, I saw no fundamental difference... Thanks for sharing !

Josh we LOVE our Earthway garden seeder!!!! Definitely no gimmick! our garden rows are about 100 feet long and boy does this make planting so much easier! One thing we do is we measure our rows and pull a sting to lay off our rows. We then just run the seeder down along beside of the string. Easy peasy! This way you can lay off your rows at any width!

I have two of them and they work great. Slow and steady is key so the seeds can be lifted by the plate and drop properly into the seed chute without skipping or popping out. Also, the chain is supposed to drag behind the seed chute to fill the furrow before the rear wheel packs it down.

Modifications Made handle 6"-8" longer. Made handle full 12" wide. Place a plate(wood) between handles bout halfway between u n seeder , make a knob the size of the inter hole on seed plates, make it long enough for all your seed plates in a stack plus a 1" . Put a hole thru this with a long 1/4" carriage bolt , make a washer 2" in diameter. Place all seed plates on knob place 2" washer on tighten with wing nut. A roll of cheap 3/4" masking tape may be added to top of seed plates beforehand. Often times , like squash seed , place masking tape on back side of plate covering holes to change spacing. Cut a detergent or other large bottle (one with flat side) or some thin sturdy material to add to the hopper. Place at a steep angle towards pick up plate , once satisfied with fit (make it tight ) few areas of hot glue will hold in place. Then no need to tilt, small seeds feed easer, or a small quantities feed better. These mods take 1/2-1 hour of time. Easer on back. Hmm just where I left those seed plates at ? No more. Awe spacing too close, o if I tape up all holes but one hmm 8" spacing or more dependent on plate. Take rule & mark on row marker with a center punch,then with a black marker, maker will rub off , in center punch divot it will stay. 12"18" marks. Any more ideas I'd love to hear em. These alone will save steps n time for years to come. 👍👌✌️

+Stony Ridge Farmer Josh, have you ever heard of the "Three Sisters" planting method? It was developed I believe by Native Americans. How it works is you plant a mound with corn beans and squash. The corn grows up and provides a place for the beans to climb. The beans intern fix nitrogen from the air into the soil where it is badly needed. The squash grows around the base of the beans and corn with its big wide leaves shading the ground to hold in moisture.

Allergies are not something you can get used to. You should know this. I an assure you that they can get worse when you get older. I have always had a dairy intolerance but in my old age it is heading for allergy status.
@StoneyRidgeFarmer
@StoneyRidgeFarmer Жыл бұрын
I understand that seasonal allergies affect those who stay indoors mainly...and I understand that acclimation to allergies is a real thing and you can overcome them in some cases by exposure to the allergen...I also understand that a dairy intolerance upsets your tummy....but I don't buy into the "Fake milk" that they are peddling out there. Exposing yourself to pollen allergens by simply eating local honey can improve your tolerance....and I do know this as a trained medical professional. The problem is the body's immune system fighting what it considers a toxin....if it's not a toxin...the body's histamine response shouldn't naturally attack it....therefore exposure in some cases can totally cure an allergy. How many parents have their kids on allergy medications when all they'd have to do is an ounce of prevention...eat local food, eat local honey and for goodness sake get outdoors more often. I think you'd agree
