Hi I’m Matt Lockey, welcome to my Coach Lockey KZfaq Channel. This KZfaq channel is designed to help you play better golf, and to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf course vlogs, golf challenges, golf tips, golf lessons, golf club reviews and the odd golf club unboxing. So pretty much everything golf!
I want to help you play better golf by providing coaching videos on all topics about golf. How to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
As well as helping you produce the best long game you can have, I will help you lower your scores by chipping better, stopping duff and thin chips, pitching the ball closer and creating backspin like the tour pros. Finally, I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts too!
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

I like this drill. I tend to over read the putts I hit more often than not, but I tend to 2 putt a lot and skim a lot of cup edges… I could always use a few more 1 putts! Thanks Coach!

yep, this is definitely an issue for me. Golfing for a long time, things become automatic; I got to a point where if putts weren't going in, I had nothing to fall back on, because I just left it all to habit and spinal cord... need these tricks to work on when things aren't going well; thanks Coach

When I was younger I was a good short game player, now I am in my 80s it is the worst part of my game ( apart the fact that I have lost a lot of distance). Distance control Matt is the killer for my scores. It all seems to happen on about 3 holes ( different holes all the time) and I know part of the problem is lack of practice time. Unfortunatley because of home commitmants I don't have the time to practice much, handicap has gone from 10 to 21. Still enjoy golf as much but don't enjoy the frustration that has developed.

Great tip to do it throughout the season as the green speeds change 👍

I already do this. It’s an acquired skill, you have to really practice this to make it work. What is understated is a center strike. All the drills and practice mean nothing if you don’t find the middle of the club face. Read your putt and focus on a center putt. Commit to it and roll on….

I bought a new putter a month or so ago and my distance control was shot. Spending 30min on the putting green made a huge difference. You'll probably get 80% of the putting gains with literally almost no effort or time spend at all. Like 2-3 hours in total. Much like with bunker shots, which us high handicappers struggle. It's borderline insulting to be _really_ bad from bunkers or having no distance control at all in putting, when the practice amount needed to be meaningfully better is so small. Now, if I could only get out of the tee box without penalties 50% of the time and having some ability to strike the ball from the fairway, I might actually not be embarrassingly bad at golf :D

Due to neuropathy in my feet, I have a difficult time feeling slope. Plus, unless the green is severely sloped, I can’t see it either! Therefore, aim point doesn’t work and plumb bobbing is very unreliable. What recommendations would you have for someone like me? Thank you and I love your channel!

Not making very many putts since losing 50% of sight in one eye 7 months ago. Having to relearn distance control because my depth perception is shot. My brain is slowly recalculating but it has been a struggle. Thanks for sharing!

Thinking you should hole more should also look at make percentage because I thought I should hole more and then realized I actually hole more than the majority of 10 handicaps when I saw the stats, putting wasn't the problem it was hitting the green!

Coach question , I played boringdon this week and had a situation that I didn't know the best option . Had a good drive on the 14th left me about 90 yards to the green all down hill small green . Not yet burnt dry enough to putt and for a 19 handicap I struggle to go high . Any tips

When it comes to putting always looking to if it's going right left or middle. I average about 30 putts a round which is just 2 short of pga average

I see golfers try a long putt on pure instinct and miss badly - then get really annoyed and miss miss miss ! They will repeat this again and again ! These same oeople are really serious about their Driver 3 wood and irons and normally arrive on the green with far less shots than me ! I try to get the distance correct for my long putts and try the above for anything nearer with reasonable results !

What if you have hit 1 or 2 less shots than me to get to the green? Do you not get extra time as I have had a lot longer than you? What if you are keeping up with pace of play? What if there is a group in front? Just a few thoughts 😊

This is a so so method for me and it is part of my putting routine. I have always found, for me anyway, that using the much maligned plumb Bob method not only lines me up with my dominant eye, it also can help in measuring slope. If you have a knack to see it, it works.

Great vlog coach, and the circle drill is fantastic for figuring out break. Also alot of people struggle with starting online. I've used a 3ft metal ruler and tried to putt along the length of it. Easy to do and from the comfort of your own home. It also helps with rolling the ball end over end.

What slope?
@TonyRotella
@TonyRotella Жыл бұрын
I have been practicing AimPoint for a season or so and have never been super successful feeling "pressure" in my lower body to gauge % slope, but I have done pretty well using the "knee-pop" method. If you stand relatively rigid straight up and down on a sloped surface, your head will be off center and your body will be off center by the same %. You will find you'll have to pop your high side knee to recenter your head and body, and you can gauge the slope by how far that knee pops out. I use the lace holes on my shoes as a guide.
