Took a trip down to see my friend Kyle at Fuse Fabrication so we could get our exhaust up off the ground and fitting right, came back to a surprise part that had shown up.
Spent a lot of time with the AVO Grille trying to get it to fit our bumper correctly and found out this was a common issue with how it is manufactured, so came up with a couple of solutions to get it fitting correctly for anyone interested in purchasing this.
We also finally got our block8head gauge pod and got it installed and looking good. Overall impressions, it isn't a bad piece, fitment is good, and it's probably the cleanest approach to gauges you can do in a bp legacy/outback. I did have to do some sanding and correcting for everything to fit and I wouldn't recommend it for AEM X-series gauges as the bezels are pretty thick and they are difficult to get to stay in without some type of adhesive which may make servicing, if required, a bit more difficult in the future.

Im super glad you added the subi badge, the front looks naked on cars I’ve seen with similar grilles and no badge. I think you could leave the grill surround black and accent a few pieces(maybe the hood scoop or the fog light bezels if they exist anymore) black and itd be pretty cool. (Maybe a bit too panda but still)
@MatlasDI

It looked so much better with the badge. I think I'll pick up some of the same carbon items for the car that I have for the outback and it should look good but I agree, definitely a fine line with a white car and black/ carbon parts. 👌

@MatlasDI

Yeah, I wouldn't expect most people to willingly do this, I was much more inclined to after all the other cutting that's gone into it. You could get around this by trimming the receiving pieces of the grille instead in similar spots.

The fitment looks really good, I think I'm going to grab one for my 06 legacy wagon... just ordered some tein z coilovers, next will be sway bars. I've heard doing just the front on the wagons, is better than doing both rear and front for solving understeer. You think that makes sense?
@MatlasDI
@MatlasDI Жыл бұрын
I'd recommend front and rear. The wagons are honestly pretty well balanced, and the only times I had ran into understeer was either my fault (too fast at entry) or the tires themselves didn't grip enough. They do have an inherent understeer due to the front bias of the drivetrain, but it's minimal. I personally run a whiteline front and cusco rear on the outback, but I'll likely do front and rear whiteline for the legacy. With adjustable components, like the rear lateral links and upper control arm, you can make some pretty drastic changes to suspension geometry and alignment, but a lot of it like I said can have to do with what's gripping the ground in the first place. If you are currently looking at whiteline components, I'd recommend to check out emnoteks website. They have whiteline at like 2/3 the price of everywhere else currently, and I'll likely pick stuff up soon on case it doesn't stay that way.

Love the progress! I'm definitely considering the same gauge set up. I was thinking of the middle section between the vents, but it seems routing wires would be much easier in this location. If you paint the grill trim white, leave the mesh silver. If you leave the trim black, definitely paint the mesh black. Just IMO.
