Today we're taking a look at one of my all time favorite shows, not just to cover on the channel but in GENERAL. It's "It Takes a Thief". A Discovery Channel reality show where Ex Burglars Matt and Jon go across the country to just... break into peoples houses... to help them. It's perfect. It's basically MTV's Room Raiders but so much worse in the most hilarious ways. So please enjoy me enjoying this absolute gem of a show... again... for like the third time.. whatever I don't care just watch.

My theory is that this show was created to stop John's crime spree. The man was addicted to burglarizing houses, and the feds couldn't stop him because he was just too good at it. Eventually, they made a compromise in which John was given a Discovery show that allowed him to break into homes under the condition that he didn't actually steal anything. But sometimes he still got that itch, which led to moments like getting a little too excited to break the leprechaun statue

Had a friend steal a stereo from a frat house in the early 90s. He walked in during a party and just walked out with it. Funniest part was he lived across the street, set it up on his porch, and the next day was blasting music when a kid walked by and said, " hey we have that same stereo." 😂

Okay I'm confused. So the show STARTS with a guided tour of all their vulnerabilities and where they keep their valuables. THEN they break in....I feel like if they didn't do step one, step two would be a lot harder 😂 Edit: come on guys. Yes, I see it's 2 different people but they work for the SAME show. Let's not be willingly gullible.
@Vincent_Beers
@Vincent_Beers Жыл бұрын
It's two different people. The host tours the house, the thief doesn't. The house gets wired with cameras and then the host sits with the owner and watches the thief break in. (or sometimes they do it at a surprise time without the owner there if they sign up for that). The thief isn't shown the house ahead of time, figures out a quick way in and then steals what they can in a short amount of time. Afterwards they give back all the stuff and pay to have the home security upgraded. It's actually really well done. I used to watch that when it was new and the host would respond to fans on his website if you wanted to ask him questions. It's really easy to break into most homes if they don't have a security system, it's usually as easy as kicking in a window or climbing up to an already open second floor window. You also have to remember this was almost 20 years ago, cameras were not nearly as common as they are now on regular homes.
@rosestar1324

It's 2 different people. 1 tours the house, the other robs the place. There even were a few episodes where the home owners pointed out the locations of some valuables and Jon didn't take them (cuz he didn't know they were there).

You gotta watch that episode where they break into someones house and clean it out while they're awake and home. I still remember that from when I was a kid, she was working in her office as he took everything she owned.

I love that even after everything they own is stolen the only thing one of them is upset about is his leprechaun.

They both had juvenile records for theft and one had a record for burglary. They both stopped young and turned to acting. Basically they were kids who learned their lesson, they never claimed to be anything more than that.

not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but at 4:00 this technique is called playing "claw," I've only ever seen it used for fighting games. Love the video and channel btw!!

That's actually a great way to hold a controller for some games. That's how I play Soul Caliber. It's way faster to react and you have two digits at the ready instead of one. Of course, if you want to play some SC with your thumb, I could "perfect" you over and over until you learn to play like I do!

The very first line sounds like we're about to hear a Dr Seuss-style presentation about reality TV. "There were Boo Boos, Mythbusters, And parents with clusters, And relationship-killing carousin's."

You have a new fan in me. Between your reference to “Straight out of Central Casting” ( who says that anymore, esp your age, no one even my age knows what that means)and the Lana Del Rey shirt, color me impressed. Enjoying your commentary on these horrible, hilarious shows!

The way he is holding the controller is called " Crab style " often Tekken players / Fighting game players will do this to input double input commands.

LOL. When he shattered Turtle's f*ckin leprechaun i felt a moment of pure joy. i seriously began cheering. And i love how he looks at it with such disdain & then just aggresively smashes it like Kai the hitchhiker.
