Hey just a suggestion for a video, on a reality show called "The Swan" in 2004. Following the transformation of Ugly ducklings into beautiful swans. The show doesn't shy away from pointing out the person's unattractive features & flaws, making sure they know just how ugly they are. There's no way this show would be greenlit or even allowed to air on network channels nowadays. I've been subscribed since your first Chris Angel video, I'm a supporter from New Zealand.

The episode that stood out to me(going from memory way back when the show was new) was some dude who said he was Aztec, and really liked graffiti artwork. They tagged his car to look like a wall, but it looked like a truckstop bathroom stall, and they made some cartoon portrait of an Aztec god that looked like the mask dude from Crash Bandicoot. It looked so fucking ridiculous. I have no clue what tech they put in(probably obnoxious speakers that didn't actually work together properly and some pointless monitors too) but the paint job was fucking dog shit. One episode I actually did like(idk if it would hold up if I saw it today, probably not lol) was they did an El Camino for a dude who was into tailgating parties. They basically fixed up the bed of the car to have condiment dispensers, and a couple grills and a fridge(all shit that tbh is probably present at most tailgating parties, the exception being this dude now had it built into his car "allegedly"[as we all know everything was simply built to last as long as they needed for the cameras to pan across and show off]) I also recall a lady being into camping, Nad they had some stuff that iirc wasn't that far "out there" and probably didn't take too much for them to make functional, one detail being they got her a package with disposable "urinators"(basically funnels so she could piss behind trees without it dribbling all over herself)

Fun fact: some of the band members worked for MTV and that is how they got on the show, then they went on tour with it after the show, then sold it to MTV or someone affiliated with the show and got themselves a more practical ones. I post vids on what happened to the pmr cars and i successfully located 12 contestants that still have the car to this day.

The funny thing about all of it is the fact that the band definitely used his van to pile all of their equipment into to go to shows, and they just filled the back with a bunch of stuff, rendering it useless. LMAO

the hot tub was the first thing I remember at the time thinking it was a stupid idea I was young enough when this show was on that I didn't know about insurance and didn't think of the logistics of some of the nutty shit they would put in cars but a hot tub in a van was a line too far for my child mind

I sometimes they removed things before giving the car back to the owners to be road legal. They may have removed the spa before giving him the van. A lot of it is just for the camera.

Yeah there’s no way driving with it full of water was feasible. Even if they left it in and used it at a rest stop the water takes almost a day to warm up.

This brought up the memory of my sister telling me she was college classmates with a guy that was on Pimp My Ride. He was the one that had the old bread truck. I remember my sister saying she never recalled seeing him driving the bread truck at all and was very certain he bought it from a salvage auction just to try to get on Pimp My Ride

There's actually a number of pictures and stories from people who got fish tanks installed in their car where... well, there was no way to feed the fish or change the water so you can probably guess what happened.

i think my favorite part about pimp my ride is that no matter what, xzibit always consistently manages to look at LEAST like 20% out of place in evey single shot he stands in during this entire show. i mean even in the beginning of this episode, he looks like hes either an action figure or one of those inflatables they have outside dealerships.

Apparently the time frame of these episodes isn't what it seems. I read an old AMA from one of the people on the show, and he said they had his car for 6 months. 6. Months. They gave him a loaner while his ride was slooooooowly pimped.

Some were as quick as about 16 days. It got around the six month timeline in the last few seasons. I think partially to prevent people from selling before the episode aired. I'm covering all the vehicles. Got one in my garage.

Every episode is a brand deal. That's why we were allowed to see the Audiobahn logos on the audio equipment. That's how they get all of the items for these shows: everything is sponsored. If it wasn't sponsored, the show would be too expensive for MTV, all of the logos would be blurred out, and the brand names would never be mentioned.

Fun fact, the show would actually slightly trash their cars for the before footage to make it more impressive. You'll notice the bumpers unscrewed to the point of dangling on a lot of them. Any modifications that conflicted with traffic laws were removed after filming. A guy named Seth from season 4 was actually forced into embarrassing his grandparents by the producers who introduced his car as "An undrivable monster" littered with trash by his "cigarette addicted grandmother" but the cigarettes were planted by the show and Seth claims he was forced to present their fabricated backstory about his grandmother to get the car modifications.

@4:24 I used to work 10 hour shifts in a die cast facility. We needed earplugs in at all times, *and* we couldn't have phones on the floor because of a bunch of defense and business contracts we had. *10 hours* of nothing but muffled machine noises. I felt numb inside. It was awful. But, for some reason, I was able to fully let go of a lot of resentment and problems I was having during that time. The silence allowed me to think, at least.

This show, and that exact same show but with Jessie James always blurs the lines...I know that Pimp my Ride did a caravan into a bead studio, a station wagon into a almost Ecto-1...but if you said they also turned a limo into a fire truck....I'd believe you...a Crown Victoria ex police car with a doughnut machine...yeah sounds right....
