It got banned because too many people were influenced by the message of the game where if you've got a grandma, you gotta shoot her with a shotgun. Obviously.

My best guess for the removal is a misbehaving bit of game code that superficially appears malicious. That nearly nuked a game from Two Star. It is one of the few reasons for Valve to remove something from Steam distribution.

Cool story about this game. When I was in highschool consoles and games weren’t something I had access to, yet I was super in love with them, most my classmates had Xbox or PlayStation n played after school with eachother which was a bummer for me, the only thing I had was my Phone and at the time I was super into horror stuff but most the phone games sucked, somehow I found granny maybe a week after it came out for iPhone by a lucky struck of fate. Anyway since we were in the same class and can’t really play games, the phone is what everyone resorts to, I’d play granny and it caught one of the kids attention and he wanted to play as well. So during our spare we went to the study lab and played with 3 other kids we all had so much fun and we’re so scared by this game that we decided to have a big gaming night just for this silly horror game, it took us ALL night straight into morning before we actually beat it. After that I became pretty good friends with the group and later down the road got a pc to play games with everyone through discord. Doesn’t sound like much but it was nice to have such a simple game be able to connect me with some of the coolest memories with those guys. This game will always have a special place in my head

mobile version of granny has a 1.8 update which contains lots of new stuff, new location and enemy. i recommend you to play it with an emulator

So a possibility to Granny's disappearance could be similar to what happened with ROAH on the Nintendo Switch, basically it got flagged as something (don't exactly remember, something like it was spamware or something) that got it removed from the eshop, it took about a year before the problem got fixed and it got added back to the eshop.

DiRT 3 is not on Steam, but I bought it and used the key to have it on Steam. Turns out the licenses expired so the brands featured wanted the game taken down and I got it for just 1 dollar. Maybe something similar happened with Granny where some intellectual property was featured and the game got taken down from Steam because someone complained about it.

Granny seems to be banned only on steam, Playstore has them all but the first one (i have only opened that one so far) doesnt have the little opening thing at the start

Apparently the games were removed from Steam back in May 2022, and it was not the dev's decision. He tweeted that he's trying to get them back up on the store, but as of now, they're still missing from Steam as far as I can tell. :(
