i recommend the canon eos 4000d (if they have a newer version go for that) + the cannon 50mm stm lense. You can shot around with the kit lense, but the 50mm is considerably nicer to shoot with, note there is no zoom on the 50mm. Maybe even go for the 25mm or 30mm if you plan taking close shots, the 50mm works best around 2-3m away from the object
@xmlthegreat
@xmlthegreat 3 жыл бұрын
If you want to get into photography, Buy a second hand camera body only. Don't waste too much cash (about 400 USD equivalent should get you a really decent one). Most cameras from the past 5 years are acceptably good for stills. It's much more important to get a good lens. A 50mm lens, with an aperture value of f1.8, should be the starting point. The comment above me gives similar advice but the brand is irrelevant, don't buy new low end gear, buy used midrange gear.

The fact that "Medium format" is larger than "Full frame" makes sense once you consider that "Full frame" is also called "Small format". And yes, there is a "Large format".
@AbzAden
@AbzAden 3 жыл бұрын
Wtf dude that’s so confusing just when I thought I figured out medium format and full frame you through me a curve ball 🤯
@marianoguy
@marianoguy 3 жыл бұрын
@@AbzAden that's because they are names that come from different contexts. Small (35mm), medium and large format comes from film photography. In film you can easily manufacture huge sheets of film that are more expensive than smaller formats but they're still something you only use once. That's different to manufacturing a bigger sensor that's going to be wildly expensive. So with most digital cameras a few years ago, there was an aspiration to have affordable cameras with a sensor at least as big as the most common format in film which is 35, but most cameras had and still have smaller sensors. These smaller sensors then started to be called crop sensors in oposition to what they weren't which was 35mm and likewise this ideally "big" sensor was of course called full in opposition to those other formats that were "cropped".

The X-T20 is great though, unlike the X-T10 it can output 10-bit video to an external recorder, so if you're into video just get a Ninja to record to. Also, if you're not happy with the quality, you probably just have a crappy lens for video, like the XC 15-45 that sometimes was bundled with it. Try it with a prime, like the manual Samyang/ Rokinon 12mm F2. ($350) or a Viltrox 23mm F1.4 ($320)

I've been a Canon and Sony customer in the past but only now with my current Fujifilm, do I feel loyalty to a brand. They're not always objectively the best camera but they're a joy to use, look great and I find myself wanting to grab it more often! They make me forget about the specs and the technicality and have fun and be creative. They're unique in the market in that regard and I hope they keep making cool cameras like this or the smaller, cheaper ILC's with the X-T4 sensor in them. 👌

They're also great support wise for a company their size. Free firmware updates that actually improve their cameras. I think part of it is that they only push a few specific bits of camera technology, so they don't get overwhelmed with issues. And sure, that means some bits are outdated, but they work.

As an electrical engineering student learning about semiconductor devices, like processors, image sensors, etc... Medium Format blows my mind. It is huuuge. The yields on these sensors must be awful. Image sensors can't even be binned like CPUs, because you can't just disable the defective parts of a chip and sell it cheaper. And cooling it is another story. Not really an issue with stills, but with video, especially over 60FPS, it becomes a problem.

Took a while to find, but the manual explains why it's a C-C connection. 15 watt (5V, 3A) charger, so A-C wouldn't support that speed not that there is much of a bonus here. Supports WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 data transfer. A 32GB card will give you 140 RAW fully uncompressed photos. Sadly the type C does not support display out and is only a 3.2 1x1 connector. Battery life estimated at 60 minutes of 4k movie or 320 photos.

I know that shallow DoF has its appeal and that it is part of the reason that people get into medium format photography. But in my experience, shooting medium format is about much more than that. With my setup (Mamiya RB67 with only a 140mm f/4.5 lens), I usually don't get super shallow depth of field, even though the film area is literally twice the size of the GF100s sensor. But the qualities lie more in the rendering, the field of view one gets with that larger medium and the amount of light one can gather on such a large area. If I went digital at some point, one of these modern medium format systems (Fuji, Pentax, etc.) sure looks promising.

that f 1.7 lens sounds really sexy, but I have a pentax 645z and even using f 3.5 lenses it's already very hard to focus, especially if you're on the move. The shallow depth of field has some disadvantages on such a large sensor. Still, I wish pentax would update their medium format lens line to include something similar. The F stop on medium format lenses has been lacking since they were invented. also 100mp is tempting, but the 51mp files from my pentax are already 50-60mb each. My hard drives would end up even fuller if the photos were double the size. 10,000 photos would take up a terabyte of space at least, and that's not including the exported JPGs. Just the original raw files.

I got to try the 80 1.7 with my GFX 100 and it surprised me how fast it was. I think I might end up buying one. Is it worth upgrading to the GFX 100s?

Just fyi, you get a free (albeit sightly limited) version of Capture One with the purchase of a Fuji camera (just input your serial to activate, iirc). That's what the little C1 card is about).

I love my xt4. I'd like to get a gfx camera one day, but probably won't as they're so expensive and I'm just a hobbyist. Also, capture one is great.
