The iphone 6s was the last iphone (not sure if the iphone SE 2016 has this too) that Apple didn't pair yet the internal parts to motherboard. Third party repairs was easy on this phone. You can even build one from scratch from spare parts.

Yeah the 6S was the last one. The original SE had parts paired to the motherboard and if the battery was switched with a third party it disabled functionality such as Touch ID.

The iPhone 6s was one of the best iPhones ever made. Sure, it didn’t bring too many upgrades upon first glance, but it undoubtedly pushed the iPhone line to new heights. Bendgate was all but elimated with a new grade of aluminum construction, Touch ID gen 2 was blazing fast and accurate compared to gen 1, the A9 was a massive leap forward in speed that remained competitive with flagships for years after its debut. Of course I’d be remiss not to mention 3D Touch, one of the most overlooked iPhone features that this phone put to great use. The other remarkable thing about the iPhone 6s was its incredible longevity. While it may have seemed like the 6 rehashed when it released, this iPhone proved it was far superior it’s predecessor. I got my 6s in 2017 after working hard to afford it, and I really loved it when it was my daily. I still have it as my backup which I’ve used on occasion. Lucky I got the 64GB model not the 16 or 32 though.

@@w32211well the last 4 iPhones have been minor updates. And I don't see the next 4 being major leaps forward. The flagships have already reached PS4 levels of performance. Price is depending on, how much phones have you bought over the last decade? And this phone ist still supported (no new iOS versions but still security updates)… So even if you just buy a 100$ phone for a year you would pay more for the 9 „cheap“ phones then for this iPhone… And in reality this calculation is even way more bad for android cuz the average android user pays something between 400-600$ for a phone they use just 2-3 years… So over an decade (the time period you can use an iPhone with no bigger issues) they need at least 3 of those phones so in the end they pay 1500$ for the time an iphone for just 900-1000$ (depending how much storage you need) would do exactly the same job… For sure, in a decade of use you will need 1 or 2 batterie repairs but those will cost you around 100$ each and then it’s already repaired by Apple… So that’s in worst case 1200$ for 10 years iphone vs around 1500$ for android and then you have even the worse apps…

I've been rocking the standard 7 for the past five years and I have no issues. I'm not a heavy smartphone user by any means, so the roughly 4 hours of screen on time is plenty for my usage. Every app still works, and it still gets somewhat regular security updates. My only concern is that the security updates have been much more infrequent since IOS 17 launched. It's probably safe for now, and I only visit a handful of websites anyway, so it's not that big of an issue if they tapper off. The phone is going on eight years old and the 6s is going on nine, really any updates are a gift from Apple at this stage. Side note, I use the phone without a case and I love how it feels in the hand, as it's ridiculously thin and I can wrap my hand around the entire frame of the phone effortlessly.

Still using the iPhone 8 in 2024. Recently got the iOS 16.7.5 update & the music output improved a lot. Infact the output on headphones, both wired one using the lightning to 3.5 mm connector & on bluetooth earphones as well is quite loud. I prefer seeing multimedia on my laptop & i am not a camera freak, so the iPhone 8 is enough for me to use for rest of the things even with lesser battery life than the expensive new iPhones.

To be honest I had an iPhone 6 back then and I just wanted to buy the 6S Plus because it looked really cool in that space gray color. Still have it and I never even used more than a few days so the battery is still 99% (99% because of the degradation throughout the years). Great phone and I still say that most people does not need a phone with a better feature list than a 6S/Plus. Might be faster phone, with better display quality and camera but the average Joe does not need half of the features that a 15 Pro Max offers.

About physical home button. As a user of new iPhone 6S, I can say for sure, that I don't miss physical home button, especially considering that it stopped working properly after 4 years of use. I don't know maybe it's because of change of battery. By the way battery replacement didn't help with randomly reloading apps which had been opened before. I noticed that problem after half/year of use, after updating to iOS 10. And at last, i am missing iOS 9 with jailbreak for it. It wasn't working after reboot, like on iOS 7-8, but still i miss it 😫

This is my favorite iPhone by design. Love the big display and the physical home button. Love that it has a headphone jack. Prices on ebay still show this phone as at least reasonably desirable after all this time. It has definitely stood the test of time. The only other competitors for good design in the iPhone range (IMO) are the 5S/SE 1 and the 4/4S. To me, the newer iPhones look bad. They are too shiny and too thick. Large rear camera bumps/assemblies keep them from lying flat or flat-ish on a flat surface. The prices are also astronomical for the minor level of yearly upgrades. Too bad 6S/6S+/SE are now unsupported and becoming slowly less usable as these are wonderful devices.

Only issue with the 6 - 6S was the aluminum build, making subject to bend. Otherwise it was a very complete design. Holding an SE rn
@birbsandsports
@birbsandsports 5 ай бұрын
Only the 6 and 6 Plus had the bending issue due to the weak aluminum (6000 series aluminum). The 6S and 6S Plus fixed that with using the new 7000 series aluminum. So the 6S series were way stronger and did not have the bending issues the 6 series had.

The 6s/plus was the first time I enjoyed an iPhone although I still sold it haha. I DID however commit to the 7 plus the year after.

Since the 6S Plus was released in September 2015, it’s now in January 2024 8 years and 4 months old. It doesn’t make sense to round it up to 9 years, because 8 months are a decent amount of time!

I also upgraded from an iPhone 6s space grey to an iPhone 14 Pro, after more than a year of using the 14 pro I can’t get myself to love my new phone the same way i loved my old one. The physical experience of the 6s is superior to the 14 pro (imo) in terms of ergonomic and overall feel in the hand. The 14 pro is more functional and it’s reflected in its proportions but the 6s was more aesthetically pleasing. I like my 14 pro but I’ll always love my 6s cause it was such a reliable, comfortable and beautiful phone.

@@peteneal5914 it's depends on battery, you should use only high-quality batteries. I'm just say repair guy - set the most expensive battery you've ever imagine on my 6S. So, it's cost 20 $. But now 2 years later still full-day battery life on iOS 15.5. Important notice! Do not use LTE, set in settings 3G and make sure power saving mode is always on. Hope this would helpfull.

My dad still uses his iPhone 6 Plus. He doesn't use it as his main phone anymore, but the only reason he doesn't is because I gave him my old Note 10+ when I upgraded phones. Otherwise, he'd still be on that iPhone of his.
