Hey Guys, I’m Alex Etches and I’m a golf professional and product reviewer. If you don’t know me, I started playing golf at 10 years old, turned professional at 22 in the UK, and have been creating entertaining and informative golf content on different platforms for the last 10 years. I have the C300 Forged, which came before D7 Forged, so 2 models before D9 Forged. And they are sensational! For irons, Wilson Staff can’t be beat - they have beautiful blades, the CB’s which are used by some tour pros, the D9 monsters, and now finally have plugged the gap in this “players distance” category. Some people are put off by the power holes, but I can say for sure that they help on low strikes to get more face flex and maintain ball speed. I had no doubt these D9 Forged would be fantastic, but seeing how much fun you had Al, and how seemingly easy they were to hit, has made me even more certain 👏

Such an underrated brand. I went in for a fit last year (last irons were Zing2's which were once only being pried out of my cold dead hands) and tried them all. TM, Miz, Cal, Ping (of course)..... walked out with D7 Forged 4-P with stock KBS $ 100S shafts. The absolute best feel (to me), sound (to me) and predictable ball flight of anything I hit that day. Being "almost 50" it didnt hurt that I gained a full club over the old Zing2's either. Even hit a bit (alot) thin, they produce.....Plus they are uber shiny and look fab in the bag. Saved $300CAD over anything else as well. Such a win.

Been playing these for several months now! They are perfect for me! Gorgeous, feels great and forgiving. I change irons too often, but these will be in my bag for a long time!

I have been playing for 30 years and in that time I have owned only Wilson irons. First 1966 Dynapower (still have), Second FG51s, Third Mendralla's, and for the last 11 years the FG59's.

It is always a joy to watch your channel. Problem is the Wilson clubs are hard to find as demos in my small market area. I went to Dick's Sporting Goods and they had nothing to try. You can buy them on their website. Our local golf shop might have them. I hope so I would love to try both of the D9 Forged and DC. Have a great week.

Been using the FG tour V6 for years. Would take alot to get me out of them. Soooooo underrated. The staff wedges are sweet too.

I currently play Wilson D7 forged and am really enjoying hitting them. Lovely looking clubs and a proper bargain when compared to Irons from the “Bigger Brands”

Nice series of ball strikes! I hit these for an hour at a demo day. I then moved to other vendors, came back, and hit them again. I bought them on the spot. Today I stumbled onto your channel & video & validated the exact same feelings you had hitting these clubs. Shocking irons at a wonderful price point. Thank you for the video.

I hit them today and ended up going with the original D9s, hoping that they would be similar once I got an extension and 2 degrees upright lie. My guess is I'll be returning them for the forged set within the next 90 days lol

I hit these at the range the other day and was so close to buying them! I got three Wilson staff wedges (50, 56, 60) for $340 (total) brand new. Has to be one of the best value brands in golf, the feel on the wedges is incredible.

I was just fitted and hit T-200, P-790 and more and these. I told my Pro I’m not even looking just hand me clubs and adjust. Came down to my best clubs were these and P-790 and they are almost identical..:::::except price point 800 to 1400. With the extra money I saved on the Wilson D9 forged I was able to get wedges and a hybrid 😮

And considering that D9F can be bought as less as 600€/650$ (EDIT: new!)... there´s not much that can beat the club, maybe Takomo 101T, but it´s another conversation since Takomos cannot get fitted by any proshop...

I went and bought them because of this video…I love them. Tested next to a ZX5, T200, i525, P790 and 770. 770 was great but these just perpetuated confidence behind the ball and they felt great. I was thinking about the CBS which are amazing, but I wanted a little more help going forward as life gets busier and they were the right choice. Butterishly soft, great control, huge bag appeal, and great price. You can go wrong with Wilson as of late.

I demoed these clubs today and ended up buying the original D9s hoping I would get a similar feel once an extension was added to the club. But from what I'm reading, that confidence behind the ball is reserved to the d9 forged irons alone. My guess is I will be returning my D9s for the forged very soon.

Thank you Al for verifying my decision! Love your videos! I tried D9 forged at the range. I was so impressed, I ordered a set immediately. I’ve never played Wilson irons before but these irons are absolutely amazing. These Look and feel fabulous. Try them. I’m waiting on mine.

Hit these when they arrived at PGA Tour Superstore in Indy earlier this year. Thought they compared very favorably to the JPX 921 Forged in size, distance and feel. They are a ridiculously good value, but I can’t stand the power holes on the longer irons. Regardless, they still might make it in my bag by year’s end.

Hey man I've been looking through and re watching all ya vids, I tore my shoulder up start of the year and can't swing my 7 at 100 anymore so looking for new forgiving distance clubs, I was looking for a cobra Ltdx review from you but don't see one are you able to do that? I'm just happy they are still making clubs. Don't think I've ever heard anybody say their clubs are anything but good, but without the marketing budget of the big dogs it's hard to make yourself heard.

D9 Forged with a recoil Dart Stiff shaft at 2 degrees flat and 1/2 inch extended are probably my next clubs!

Probably gonna get them 1 degree weak also to add a bit of loft, just to get my descent angle a bit higher. 1 degree should help the descent a lot, but not compromise too much distance for me.

Have have used Wilson irons for the past 5 years I love them IMO they have the best feel I have tried all other brands of irons but they don't feel no where as nice as my irons

I got the Apex 21’s and i Love them. Also Forgiving for a Forged Iron and Feel Great when hit in that sweet spot. Got a nice sound too.

I would not recommend these irons for people with faster swing speeds eg stiff. Know of two sets where the faces have collapsed on numerous irons.

Oh but you are wrong my friend, I not only have hit it, I have them...I know, of course I do. They are such good irons, from a feel basis they remind me a lot of the V6 from a few years back. Love that you had to move the green back in order to have a chance at a Hole In One.

You will observe a number of PGA senior tour Pros swear by Wilson clubs, Paddy Harrington who rubbed shoulders with the top of the leaderboard at the 150th Open , also Lawrie had a Wilson bag. Wilson is serious kit.. 👍

For irons… yes. But can be hard to get fitted. In saying that, I do play Wilson irons & hybrid and absolutely love them

@@cameronloveless1751 as a Fitter I completely agree. One of the best ways Wilson could grow to where it was again is just in terms of accessibility, making sure all fitters have all the possible combinations of heads/shafts

The irons are good (and good value), so get them in there and let the product do the talking!! assumed it was someone higher up in Wilson responsible for not placing enough fitting sets in the hands of fitters like yourself. Everytime I see one of these videos I get angry, I'm 49 and to me Wilson were and still are the goat, when I was a junior and pretty much any golfer worth his salt used them they were the brand you aspired to, faldo, daly, langer, v j, do I have to keep going, even into the 2000's padraig, come on you tube golfers give Wilson the respect they deserve

The problem with Wilson irons is Wilson’s design and naming of their irons .. the last good looking Wilson iron was the blade that looked like a classic Wilson blade. Hire a new design team, I’ll help you name them
