The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said 'just as the United States would not agree to a ceasefire after the bombing of Pearl Harbour or after the terrorist attack of 911, Israel will not agree to a cessation of hostilities with Hamas'.

If my next-door neighbour repressed and oppressed me for 75 years, just because they could (ie. massive military support from elsewhere), then do you think that at some point I wouldn’t punch back? Last time I checked, in a boxing match, _both_ fighters are allowed to throw punches. That doesn’t mean that what Hamas did was justified, but it was hardly unpredictable. Netanyahu appears blissfully oblivious to this fact.

If I understood what he meant correctly, in a sport match, you can't keep punching your opponents when they fall down, then referee will interfere. If you do so you lose points, if the referee doesn't notice, then the the crowed will look less on the person who kept throwing punches while their opponents is down as of a less " sportsman spirit?", hope I got the term correct. So now as Bibi is causing more death "throwing more punches" he is losing media / popularity points. What a f****d up world we are in.

What Hamas did is highly contested if you look at the facts on the ground. There where numerous lies from the Israeli side about what actually unfolded that day. 90% of the world doesn’t consider Hamas to be a terrorist organization. Most of the people that died that day was Israeli combatants, either IDF soldiers (500-600 soldiers) and armed settlers. Rest was so called "collateral damage" as Israel likes to put it. I am just saying, just because the evil regime of Israel tells us what happens, should we acctually believe it. I'm just stating what feels more reasonable.

@@MoJo01 well then the Hamas attack was throwing a punch when the opponent is sitting on a stool talking to his coach before the next round begins. This can go on but this is not a sports match and proportionality is for the privileged who are morally preening themselves while at a safe distance and on someone else’s expense. Fact is nobody will be willing to live side by side with people that are capable of doing such things to people. I couldn’t sleep well next to that either.

Netanyahu needs war to distract from his huge failings on domestic issues and the massive military failure in October 7th. In reality, most people on both sides would agree to some kind of negotiation to free the hostages, and discuss the future of a Palestinian state without Hamas and other terrorist groups.

Gaza was taken over after 1948 by Egypt. West Bank by Jordan. This is also a time for Palestinians to think about how long they are willing to stay hostages of Hamas and Hizbullah. I am from Iran, and our regime, which supports and funds Hamas, owns millions of kilometers of land of our precious country but has destroyed all to desert, and millions of people are in exile for this cruel regime. I really don't think owning land with corrupt politicians brings happiness to any country. I also hope that Israel starts to communicate directly with the people of Palestine and shows its real intention that it wants to have a peaceful region with prosperity of Palestinians and Israelis together.
