I've been thinking of maybe getting this. My only concern is that I'd get annoyed by the brightness of the lights. And it's a real shame that it needs external power, really limits the portability, I was hoping to be able to use it with my laptop on the couch, or take it with me and jam with friends on the go. It would be great if they came out with a firmware update which allows power via USB with dimmed brightness. Or if they would release a battery powered version. Is it possible to have visual feedback from the DAW to the device? For example, would you be able to display the value set in the DAW below a fader?

I've just checked the Erae manual and it says the provided power supply is 15V 2A which means it can draw up to 30 Watts of power, similar to a Macbook M1 Air. Massive. Technically, USB-C can provide much more power than that but for a laptop to do so it must have a voltage booster circuit built in which I doubt there is any demand for at the moment. So in practice we are limited with 5V 3A which is just 15 W. Which may still be quite enough for dim mode I guess!

The ERAE touch does not come with a bitwig script and there is no link to one to download from there website, so what exactly are you referring to ?

Alckemy, can you help me? I don't see the correct controller options in Bitwig. The embodme site says that I should see and select "Erae Touch MIDI on the first one, Erae Touch MIDI (MPE) for the second." That, however, is not what I see offered under controllers. I have "Erae Touch" and "MIDIIN2 (Erae Touch)." What am I missing? As of right now, as you might guess, there is no slide or glide. Lift seems to work, as does pressure and strike. What am I missing?

@@Alckemy Okay, gotcha: I was looking for something directly from Bitwig. This doesn't work for me, I think because I do not have the "Erae Touch MIDI" option or the "Erae Touch MIDI (MPE)" option available. I just see "Erae Touch" and "MIDIIN2 (Erae Touch)" options. They just don't appear. But I'll try it again. And thanks for your patience. I just tried it again and, no, it doesn't seem to be looking for the options I mentioned that I have.

@@danlandis3006 you have to drag that file into bitwig scripts. Search in google embodme Erae bitwig script Find the download Drag the file to bitwigs script folder

Sensel are far from gone. they just moved to bigger things than specific controller, focused on technology itself and are going to supply it to OEMs. from what I understand we're going to see new generation of touchscreens on various devices with haptic feedback and pressure sensitivity.

@@Rivanni no, I said they aren't gone, but instead of making controller they are working on supplying pressure sensitive touch with haptic feedback technology to other device manufacturers, so potentially we're gonna see some tablets with this stuff, or phones at least depending on scale they start at. so far they shipped trackpads for some laptops that use some of that tech, just without screen underneath.
