The devs clearly didnt watch game grumps play endless ocean 2, because they would have brought back jean eric louvie and peewee deedee for another batch of hilarious. I give this a 7 episode season and they move on Edit: the reason i say 7 is because normally when they do recording sessions, its a 7 episode stretch of videos unless the game is shorter than 7 episodes. i understand like Endless ocean 2 came out in.... 2009!? geez.... but they still could have watched their videos or their kids brought it to the games devs and said "make jean eric come back!" regardless the entire thing behind 7 episodes is because thats their normal recording session numbers.

"oh remember that cute game with the strange old man, his quirky granddaughter going on an adventure, researching a castle underwater? FUCK ALL THAT AND LET'S MAKE IT BORING AF!" Actually, it was scary too. My heart dropped 3-4 times. I can't believe Dan never felt uncomfortable. Swimming in the dark cave or when it was nothing but the Endless Ocean™ and a fish slowly appeared.

Fun fact: zebra shark babies have stripes! They fade and spot over time in adults, which is why scientists originally thought they were two different species!

The fact that the grumps can take a game so beige and dull and make it so much more with a few childish jokes astounds me every time.

It's sad this game doesn't hold the same magic as the others did but the grumps make it enjoyable all the same!

3:50(ish) - they tried to game-explain the "indication light" that unscanned fish have ('luminous bacteria that are repelled by the electromagnetic scanners')... all they had to say was "if a fish is Shiny, that means you havent Scanned it yet!" ...but then again, all they had to do was make an Endless Ocean game that was like the OTHER Endless Ocean games, yet apparently THAT was too hard, as well...no wonder Matthias is never coming back-- he's dead, just like this series of games, thanks for reminding me...

ALRIGHT HERE GOES IT! Ive played through most of the game so far and here's my review and tips. I feel like I'm extra qualified since I've played both previous endless ocean games which literally inspired me to become a marine biologist which I am in my last year of schooling for. If I'm being honest, this game is not great...its boring without much plot. I feel like I'm one of the very few people who find it fun but thats purely because I enjoy seeing how they render the fish, and because I try to identify the fish myself. This game is all over the place but not in the fun goofy way of they other 2. They have freshwater fish in the ocean? Extinct fish and literal dinosaurs just roaming around, I've found coelacanth just chilling in shallow reefs. This game tries to be educational often presents weird plot as fact. They try to make it "realistic" by coming up with b.s scientific SOUNDING explanations. I could go on and on. This game is great to just chill out to, I like playing it at night while watching other stuff or listening to music. Its definitely not worth $50. Also story mode is not fun... Actual tips and tricks! If you need to scan more fish to unlock chapters, go on a solo dive and try to find a reef, go to the corals because they will have a bunch of little schools. Also finding large schools which tend to hang out closer to the surface is good too. Ignore the weird sidequests like the anomalies or disk puzzles, they're annoying and half the time don't work. Also when scanning, hold down the button and look all around, that scans more. You can also hit the b button before the meter fills up so you dont have to go into the individual fish camera. You also don't have to go down the list of each individual fish to make it count towards the fish goal. Hopefully this is helpful? Overall, if you are really wanting a chill somewhat educational experience you may enjoy the game, specifically the solo dives. Take all the educational content with a grain of salt tho because they do not make it clear if the fish is actually freshwater, extinct, or straight up a mythical creature. I will say the designers and artists outdid themselves the game is absolutely beautiful! Its very clearly a Japanese developed game as a lot of the fish are found there along with the salvage. I enjoyed that part since I’m Japanese and grew up seeing a lot of these fish. If you are a Japanese marine biologist who just wants to chill, you'll probably enjoy the game? But I wouldn't really recommend it. Just replay the originals. Its sucks its so bland. I was literally counting down the days until its release and it is a definite disappointment. Best part about this game is that it makes Endless Ocean 2 look better. This series needs more soda and OJ.

Sunfish are surprisingly massive. Photos don't do them justice (and early Animal Crossing games made them look smaller than some actual small fish).

At first I thought “maybe they’re freaking out over scanning 500 things, confusing a side goal/achievement with the main game” then I saw THE NEXT CHAPTER IS LOCKED UNTIL YOU SCAN 500 THINGS. Wow, what garbage. How did they decide to bring a decade-old series back from the dead, only to make it the most aggressively cheap and padded thing possible? Edit: okay…so free dive counts toward the goal, and schools of the same fish count individual fish…that’s not as bad? Still pretty bad…

The AI saying 'Daniel must be feeling competitive' gave me a horrible flash forward to a dystopian future where you'll have an AI assistant that reads other peoples' facial expressions and body language to tell you how they feel.

I really hope they finish Endless Ocean 2 instead of playing this. I miss it.

I remember playing Blue World as a kid and the shark parts always scared me but then I watched you guys play it and it was absolutely hilarious, which led to me getting over myself and finishing the game (which had an awesome ending btw)

I think the free dive stuff is a lot better than the story progression. I wouldn't mind seeing them do that for seven episodes~
