How Bananas Grow🍌
🌱
I never knew this, but bananas grow in rows of up to 20. They grow on buds with so many layers, and when you peel those layers you reveal the baby bananas growing, in what is called a “hand”.
🌱
Each individual banana is called a “finger”. That means a single banana plant can produce up to 250 bananas!
🌱
They’re a large hanging fruit - don’t get any ideas - and they’re the largest HERB in the world - yep they’re referred to as herbs! But the fruit itself is referred to as a berry.
🌱
They grow in humid, tropical areas, and they don’t grow from seed, but from a bulb! & it’ll usually take between 9-12 months from sowing the banana bulb to harvesting the fruit.
🌱
Now unlike other fruits like apples, bananas are available all year round and grow in clear abundance with many hands and fingers.
🌱
So now we all know cool stuff about banana plants and now we know why monkeys like bananas because they have appeal
thanks for watching this plant episode about bananas love y’all.

ain't nobody growing bananas from bulbs. A banana plant only produces one batch of bananas then dies (like pineapples) but they also grow suckers/pups - little baby plants next to the parent (like pineapples). These are either left in place, and the parent is cut down, or taken out and transplanted (like pineapples) to produce their own bananas. You can start with one banana plant and grow many, but it will take a few cycles.
