◼︎The video begins with my little brother arriving in Athens, where I pick him up from the airport on Orthodox Easter Day. Together, we head to Monastiraki Square, which offers a stunning view leading up to the Acropolis. From there, we find ourselves at Aloustines Cafe, right in the midst of their Orthodox Easter celebration. True to tradition, they are grilling a lamb on a spit. My brother and I are warmly invited to join in the festivities. We eagerly partake in the feast, enjoy the dancing, and immerse ourselves in the joyous atmosphere. What an incredible experience!

I saw a video from a black american lady that accused Greeks of being racists to blacks because there were no blacks in the gym she went to in Athens. I am glad I saw this video. I am an older black woman who LOVES Greek people and even dated a Greek Cypriot man for several years, whilst we were both at University (He asked for my hand in marriage here in Britain, I sadly turned him down for so many reasons. Nothing to do with him personally our circumstances in life at the time would not allow it) Then in recent years here in the UK, our News started telling us how extremely Far Right Greece had allegedly become and it was very unkind to people of colour and its poor immigrants. This shocked and hurt me as it did not represent the nice Greeks I had met here in the UK. So I decided I would never visit there and spend my hard earned money. Now this video has changed my mind - I may visit one day after all❤

@@G254611 Greece never turned far right. At their peak as a united party they got 7% in elections some years ago, now they're in jail. Overall far right will never go past 10% here and they are divided parties who can never unite because they are dumb as bricks. So what you've seen in your country's news was & is just lies. It's a very week and divided minority. 90% of Greeks will accept and offer hospitality to foreigners, as long as they respect Greek culture and are kind people, no matter color, race, ethnicity.

@@G254611 those you call poor immigrants are criminals. Europe takes those with university degrees or workers, and has closed the borders from Greece to Europe. In Greece, the majority of immigrants are criminals and entered illegally. Come live in areas of Athens, see what's happening. I don't think you'll live long. Especially Afghans, Pakistanis, Somalis, Algerians, Tunisians and Moroccans will kill you for €50. According to official police figures, 60% of crimes are committed by foreigners. 80% of the crimes of Greeks are by Roma (Gypsy). There are approximately 200,000 Roma. The total number of legal and illegal aliens is approximately 2,000,000. The Greeks are approximately 8,000,000. In 1989 foreigners were only 0.2% of the population of Greece. And finally, Greece cannot accept all the people of the earth. Now we are a poor country. We have no jobs. We have over 10% unemployment. A few years ago we had 30% unemployment. Salaries are from 700 to 1200 euros and house rent costs from 400 to 700 euros. The cost of living has gone up. Gasoline costs €2 per liter. We can't buy a car. Greece has the oldest cars in the EU. Many employers choose foreign workers to pay lower wages. They exploit the foreigners, and the Greeks remain unemployed. This happens mainly in the tourism industry. And finally you have to understand that Greece has only 10 million population and cannot accept more than 2 million immigrants. They are many and the social cohesion of a state is not maintained.

Many years ago, I was holiday in Cyprus, I asked a taxi driver where is the best place to have a meze. He smiled, drove for about 20 minutes and said, “welcome to my home.” My girlfriend and I were seated on his porch with his family and after about 30 minutes, an elderly lady started to bring out the food. We had, bread, olives, grilled lamb and rabbit, various dips and dishes. They even supplied beers and wine, until the early hours. When it was time to leave, they absolutely refused to take payment from us. Remembering his tiny mother waving as we left, brings a tear to my eye to this day. I AM SO GLAD YOU SHOWED THIS TO US HERE IN BRITAIN! I live in the UK and on our News they kept giving us the impression that Greece had allegedly gone extreme Far Right and treated it's immigrant residents horribly. It had become very "R" Word - at a time people of colour were desperate 😢 This was shocking as I love Greeks and even went out with a Greek Cypriot Man from the 1980s to early 1990s for a few years (We met at University here in London in the early 1980s. He was doing his PHD in Politics and I was an undergraduate studying Law). He was an only child like me and was desperate to introduce me to his mum in Greece Cyprus, and wanted us to be married. I didn't want to go to Greece Cyprus, as I had commitments etc I was glad I didn't go in the end - As l had an elderly relative (RIP) who sadly later fell ill and I became his Carer. I also had a lovely fantastic Greek Landlord for a few years. Lovely, polite, young man. Almost 40 years later after dating the Greek Cypriot guy at University. we started hearing of Greece, here in the UK, in and around 2016, and how it had allegedly become very Far Right and was allegedly VERY unkind (cruel) to people of colour. I thanked God in the end that I didn't reside in Greece Cyprus after all. I know Greece and Cyprus are not the same but since they share so much, I was grateful I didn't go to Cyprus to live. Yet soooooo many Brits of all races visit Cyprus and Greek annually- just a few months ago a black lady and her entire family visited Greece on holiday and loved it. Now I have seen this video- I may change my mind and go on holiday one day with my hard earned cash as an older black British black woman. Thanks for this❤

Being a "far right" or a patriot or what people today call "nationalism" isn't the same thing with the 1940s. For example for me a patriot or a 'far right' individual the current government is leftist, borderline communist or what you would call in USA liberals. For the communist party or the leftists in Greece the current government is nationalist and they would definitely call me (since I apparently am more right wing than the government) a nazi. I am far from nazi ideologies, I don't believe that modern greeks are racially superior to anyone and I don't believe anyone REALLY does who is "far right". What is far right? What is nationalism? I believe we should care more for our people than foreigners , just like I care about my family first than other people. In essence even true communism could be classified as nationalist this way, since it cares more about their own citizens than others. What do I mean by that? Since Greeks citizens exist who because of financial conditions have to migrate to the north or NA, or are actually homeless and poor. We shouldn't give anything out of our pocket for migrants here. And by constitution should actually be imprisoned for violating our borders since Turkey isn't a warzone. Now leftist would call me something worse than nazi for this opinion, same leftist that are in the communist youth and supported communist countries that had even more harsh punishments for violating their borders. What do I mean about not giving anything out of our pocket? They are basically getting a universal income and get several funds from our government that greek citizens get. Like child allowance (40 euro per child), universal income 200 euro for 1 person + 100 for 3rd person + 100 per child per month, they also get some refugee allowance by EU and government funds I don't know the amount. While they stay in migrant camps with AC wifi, free food, healthcare, education etc. Basically what a tax paying greek citizen can get, which isn't much but our citizen don't get guaranteed house with all utilities and food for their children. Now if EU handles all these cost I welcome it, although I still believe they shouldn't get refugee status. I also wouldn't welcome a huge number of them relative to our population so northern europeans that want them should take them.I don't want colonizers, I want my city and country to preserve its identity and not lose it. Is this racist? I don't know. What I know is I learned about many cultures doing international programs, cultures like Turkish (very similar to our own) Pakistan, Hindu, indonesian, arabic, jewish. Cultures that maybe wouldn't exist if colonizers replaced them, you know what I mean? They preserved their cultures and people can still learn them and learn from them. What refugees should actually get refugee status? Turks who are fleeing Turkey and asking for political asylum. (It might be shocking but around 300.000 passed the borders legally and illegally to ask for political asylum since 2016). What I want to say is, take it with a ton of salt what ever people saying about right wing or left wing etc. What you see in this video is actually how most foreign people are treated regardless of their race in Greece.

@@zxczs7631 Thanks for taking the time to respond. I hear you, and you are entitled to your opinion but I live differently. I am a Spiritual, Bible believing, Born Again Christian and take my cue from God's command and since I believe Christ could turn up at ANYTIME, I want to be able to look Him in the face, without guilt, regret or shame knowing I have not fallen short of His command when it comes to strangers, putting them first and treating them well. The Bible says (and I have quoted different versions of the Bible): Hebrews 13:2 "Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!" Hebrews 13:2 "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares". Hebrews 13:2 "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it". Finally, Jesus Christ of Nazareth also made this strange comment about HIMSELF - A true eye opener: Matthew 25:35 to 46 "' 'For I (Jesus), was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’ “Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?’ “Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ “These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Take care, have a good day and God bless🙏🕊

@@G254611 I don't think we need god to tell us to be hospitable (or other things). Hospitality is one thing getting colonized is another thing. You can understand that as African I think. God doesn't have anything to do with migrant crisis, first they should get refugee status in Turkey, secondly they pay close to 10.000 euros to get smuggled from Smyrne to Greece (Europe) secondly many drown at the sea. If god existed we wouldn't have this situation. And to be frank even now Greece is a welcome nation just like ancient times where they first fed and accomondated the foreigners before asking who they were and where they were travelling from. But I'm afraid if we continue to pay for foreigners to colonize us we will end up like London(no offence) and that is a thing that will bring real nationalism, violence and a struggle Greece hadn't seen since our revolution.
