Today, follow along as I cook the team a Christmas dinner feast - the way I would normally cook a feast without cameras and recipes. The steps overlap, my time is limited, the recipes are delicious and the team will be well fed. Enjoy ✌️
Timings for Your Christmas Dinner
The timings below are for a 3pm dinner. Adjust as needed based on the time you're planning to eat, e.g. if you're eating at 6pm, you would start at 1pm. It's worth noting that these timings should give you plenty of time to still enjoy yourself, and the more you do the day before, the less you have to do on the day.
Hour 1: 10am
Put the beef in the oven.
Make the stuffing, then leave it in the fridge to cool.
Make the Yorkshire pudding batter.
Hour 2: 11am
Peel and cut the potatoes.
Start boiling the potatoes.
Prepare chickens for the oven.
Prepare, cook, and cool the baby carrots.
Hour 3: 12pm
Place the chickens in the oven.
Prepare, cook, and cool the sprouts.
Start making the gravy.
Hour 4: 1pm
You should be at a good point now. Tidy up and prepare for the final push to have everything ready on time.
About halfway through the hour, start roasting the potatoes.
Start cooking the Yorkshire puddings.
Hour 5 (final hour): 2pm - Go Time
15 minutes into the last hour, put the beef and chicken back in for the final browning.
Once the meat is back in, start finishing the carrots and sprouts.
20 minutes before your meal, start to carve the meat.
Plate the vegetables - if they need a quick flash in the oven to get them piping hot, go for it.
All going to plan, everything should be on the table with 5 minutes to spare.

It will sound stupid, but - discovering this channel might be the best online thing happening to me this almost passed year 😅 The no-nonsense approach towards cooking, simple, down-to-earth language and still top shelf results attainable for 'the ordinary guy' - this made me really want to cook more, experiment too, even without own 'Babe', 'Basic Mitch' or others to cook for. Thank you, Chef for another simple, yet brilliant video and for everything (including the cookbook that arrived few days ago and is AMAZING, from cover to back!) and Merry Christmas for you and the Crew!

Andy is one of the most wholesome and down to earth food related content creators on KZfaq. It's good, simple, honest cooking that you can easily follow along with at home. In my opinion, he is the future of what the general public has coined "celebrity chefs." It's nothing like Gordon Ramsay, which is very explosive, to the point, and hard to follow along with, almost as if Gordon is leading a service in a professional kitchen, not teaching someone who simply enjoys cooking at home. Andy is concise and takes his time to explain each step in a way that someone who isn't a professional chef will understand. I've cooked a few recipes of Andy's and had success every time even managed to get my children eating them as well, which is amazing as they are both picky eaters.

Awesome video Andy! Everything looks delicious! In Germany, we always roast a whole Goose on christmas day. In our family, the goose is stuffed with dried plums, Apples, chestnuts and the innards of the goose. The meat is served with a delicious gravy, Potato Dumplings and red cabbage. The fat from the goose is saved, and we use it as a spread on our delious german bread or to make fried potatoes (Bratkartoffeln). The presents are always opend on christmas eve. On Christmas eve, we always have Bread with good charcuterie, and cheeses. We also eat salads. One very traditional german food on christmas eve is the heringssalat, a salad with hering and cooked red beets. I love our christmas food, and its always fascinating to hear what other cultures like to eat this time of year!

The part I always get flustered with as a noob home cook is having all of this arrive at the table hot 🤣

I've not watched a lot of your longer form content, but I have to say I really appreciated this video. Your humor, your serene attitude, and just the way you explained things was great. I could have gone with a bit less jumping from the editing, sometimes it made it diffult to follow, but overall I really enjoyed this video and I hope you make more like it!

Made the roast beef and the potatoes. Beef was an absolute winner - loved by everyone and I will be doing it again next month because it was too nice to only have once! I cooked it to well done and it was tender and melt in the mouth. Thanks so much for the brilliant breakdown on timings - it was very helpful!

Andy Merry Christmas from the states! Absolutely love the way you filmed this one... very real for us home cooks and honestly for me timing is the biggest issue with these big dinners, not really the technique so much. Please feel free to add more of this timing or longer videos to show a better idea of prep times and real world cook times. I'm making a wellington for dinner tomorrow and I learned the hard way to prep days in advance, started my demi stock 4 days ago and did the mushroom duxelle yesterday, about to do some crepes and butcher the whole tenderloin tonight so tomorrow isnt full of madness and stress.
