I would like to add, this is applicable to ANY timeframe. This scales up to the yearly basis if you really want it to. I also realized I mentioned actionable windows and forgot to talk about them! I'll do so in a future video. Hope you guys enjoyed! Leave a like if you'd like to see more of our private content from stratalerts.com on youtube!

I know the price is fractal but are you saying that you use Start to trade in 1m TF. isn't 1m TF noisy?
@AlexsOptions
@AlexsOptions 11 ай бұрын
@@nogag8219 as volatility increases we drop timeframes. In the example of AMD we had a weekly move in a day. So the day was a week chart the hour was a day chart the 15min would’’be been like our 60 timeframe and the 1/2/3min would be our entry timeframe. This is stuff you learn when taught #TheStrat.

What is a little misleading about this video (and mostly all other videos related to "the Strat") is that fact that you do not know where the low of the entry bar will be until after it closes but you enter while the bar is still forming. For example: at 10:10 you mention that you would enter as the bar breaks above the high of the previous bar and the low will go below the low of the CURRENT bar (which is still forming). In your video you show this trade as a beautiful winner because you assume that during the 5 minutes that the bar was forming it didn't move below your stop loss and expanded the range of that bar. In hindsight, it looks like it didn't hit the stop-loss but in real-time it can very well do that, stop you out and then continue in the intended direction. It looks great on the chart in hindsight but in reality that same trade could be simply a loser but the whole point of the video is capturing those big winners to pay for the "small" losers.

I think this is a fair point, and would be cool to see Alex address, even briefly in the next video (assuming there is one). I am certain the stop would still be under the current candle's current low, but this is a great reminder the way you cannot back test these without viewing the price on a smaller time frame

We look to enter to confirm the HTF. So if it stops out we wait for a new setup or re enter on the same setup (depending how long they’re in force for) Please watch my most recent video to see how this all works. The signals when done directly as shown should work extremely well or we stop out & move on. Just by the nature of how combinations work and how we do sector analysis we will know how long we have for a break to be confirmed. So some setups we’ll try for a day some setups we’ll try for 3 months to create entries Fully dependent on setups & not every signal will work. The ones that are not confirming or triggering HTFs are the ones you see failing more often.
@AlexsOptions
@AlexsOptions 10 ай бұрын
This is the thing that most people have problems with but that’s because of trading the ‘wrong stuff’. Things that don’t have multiple signals or things that are inside on HTFs. Or after the month is half over, the things not bright green or bright red. Etc Lots more to talk about, this will be its own entire video. What we’re going through now is simply analysis. Once live execution comes in we will be covering how it’s done!

I am watching now and in case anyone else gets confused early on, the first SPY daily hammer candle where Alex says "It's not a Monday, it's a Tuesday" is actually a Monday (August 28th). It's the following Monday that the market is closed for Labor Day (Sept. 4). :-)

So if I'm hearing this correctly, you do a 3 contract entry, take one off the table at T1. Then move your stop to break even and from there look at potentially scaling in as the chart moves on and gives you confirmation signals.

Hey wait a minute you were actually talking slow hehe. Kidding... Ha this makes all too much sense to me. The reason being is when i watched your other videos about trading BFs you would mention entering a 5r with a stop below entry lookin for the other side of the BF. If wrong taking that small loss. I used that as way to trigger my 30 reversals whoch could go to 60 targets which could trigger us taking out a weekly target. Those areas which id usually have marked off in the charts. I believe thiese areas may be what you refer to as actionable windows. Thank you .. Bizzy

Can you make a video explaining the psar
@joshdees
@joshdees 11 ай бұрын
I understand the idea of using PSAR as a Trailing Stop, but procedurally, how exactly would you DO that/ execute that?
@AlexsOptions
@AlexsOptions 11 ай бұрын
Entry. Stop goes break even on exhaustion of signal or when the magnitude of the signal is reached. when PSAR crosses above break even it is then trailed up on the PSAR. Or it is left break even and the PSAR is used as a signal to re-evaluate what current prices are doing.

Hi Alex, thanks for all your videos. They are very helpful. Quick question. If you enter a trade off of the weekly trigger and buy a few weeks out, where do recommend putting your first stop loss? Would it be at the high of the previous day, 50% of previous day, go down to a lower time frame and trail, etc. For instance INTC had a 2 UP that finished red and it was a shooting star as well. I entered when it broke the weekly trigger and then it shot back up. It retraced back to 50%+ of the previous day's candle. Since it's 2 weeks out, would you hold until it breaks the previous days highs or would you stop out at 50%, etc?? Just curious what your rules are that you follow. Thanks!!
@AlexsOptions
@AlexsOptions 11 ай бұрын
Yea. High of previous day is decent. Really, if the day candle goes against you and you shorted the week. If that reversal reclaims the weekly trigger we’d want to be out That’s why when things move we jam our stops up because should they fail we don’t wanna be around to find out why.

Hey Alex, just watched your video again and had a question. When you say add to your position are you typically adding with the original strike price or a different one. For instance in the first entry maybe buy 3 contacts at 444 strike price. In the next entry do you add using the same strike price or maybe get a 445 strike price? Hopefully that makes sense. Also do you you typically enter on the 5m chart? Someone else that i follow enters on the 15m but manages on the 5m so just curious. Thanks!
@AlexsOptions
@AlexsOptions 10 ай бұрын
I use all timeframes. The ones shown are a lower timeframe that is suitable for the volatility that we had seen. Depending on volatility timeframes change. During the open there is a period of high volatility so we look to take lower timeframe signals. The strike depends on what you’re trying to do. If you’re trying to aggressively move into a winning position further OTM strikes with profit from the initial trades as a ‘‘sacrifice’ to the theta risk is a smart move to make. Only if you know the magnitude of that move though, not recommended by me just for consistency’s sake. I prefer to add into the same contract or a further dated contract. Same contract for day trading further dated if I’m looking to swing something.

It does but you have to be patient through the extremely long consolidations (mini broadening formations) When the monthly / quarterly signals start setting up it’s a lot better to trade. Then use my recent video to do the top down analyais
