I’m a scratch player, from the beautiful mountains of West Virginia. If I’m hitting a hook, it’s because my body isn’t rotating. My “turn” stalls out, and my hands take over. Another culprit is level shoulders through impact, with no right side bend. I have lower back problems, so on days when my back is stiff, I’ll just weaken my grip, and play this way. However, on a normal day I like to turn hard, and go through the hitting zone with right side bend. This produces a controlled fade. The aggressive turn kicks the club out a little, giving me that slight out to in path. The right side bend helps me hold off the face rotation longer. These are only MY swing thoughts, but maybe they will help someone else. Love your channel.

Brian from NJ. I hit both. Feels like I have more of the high hook swing. I struggle recently with topping it just like you did in the video. On video my lead shoulder shoots up high and I have the lower body move you have described. Can’t wait to try this out

Happy New Year to you and yours Nick and allow f the US Golf crew and subscribers another great video , I want to tell you it was 56 here in New Jersey yesterday so we played 9 holes , I didn’t lose a ball or slice the entire round and while I shot a 50 I had a par and a few bogies , my struggles were more mis hits with woods ,hybrids and even my wedge shots were not up to par

Todd, this is extremely timely! I fight this with every shot….more so the higher hook. I find these shots for me at times are a bit toey. That hip hinge is interesting. I’ve been try to tell myself to keep the lead shoulder closed longer and that seems to help…wonder if some of it might be a bit hip hinge. Occasionally though it causes me to smash one way right. I’m determined to get it. Hank Haney always says the path to good golf doesn’t go through a slice. I’m hoping I can get to more consistency. Craig, San Antonio.

Great video..Have always fought a low hook. Have always struggled with the releasing the golf club at the right time. would love to hear any suggestions you have concerning timing the release of the golf club. I live in Oklahoma. My index is 7.4

I have both your book and vertical line video package. Both are enjoyable! I have one question on your arm path which you address as straight back. Would not your path be dictated by the shaft plane? I believe you want the arms on a path midway between the ball line and toe line. If this is correct, how can your hands arc in as addressed in your video? Thx., Tom from San Diego

I was a controlled fade guy through my first 45 years of golf. Not a slice but it all went left to right always and I was a 10 handicap. Then my club pro told me I needed to learn how to hit a draw if I wanted to compete against the club’s better players. Well he taught how to draw and all was well. When I started play golf less frequently my draw turn into a high hook, very consistent. Now as a senior I no longer use my driver. I hit a three wood off the turf. Straight but not very far. I just bought your book, the bad lie and your suggestions will be used during my winter indoor practice. Also received your swing line practice board as a Christmas gift and can’t wait to get to the practice tee. Love all of your videos. Keep is simple and the average golfer can improve. Dan H😊

Since coming back to golf at the age of sixty, I've had a hook. After trying to manipulate my swing, my weight shift and the face of my club, I found I needed to change my grip. Everything is coming together now. Rapid City SD.

Yes, my bad shot is a hook off the tee. Mine always feels a bit off the toe. 6 handicap.

Hey there! New sub and names Jake from WA! So I definitely come from the inside, I've down the line test and 3 ball test and seems to be for sure coming from the inside. I actually sometimes do the horrible low snap hook and the horrible slice..!! Was wondering what could be causing both of these depending on impact position then? I figure maybe I'm sliding forward too much not rotating on the downswing, could that cause snap hooks and slices depending on face position and heel or toe? Thanks in advance! I've been a high hook for years. First with balata balls and now with modern golf balls. Mostly 30 yard hooks which meant I have to aim right and end on the left. I solved problem by weakening my grip. Now I don't hook but occasionally do push the ball right. What's my problem
