I come from the place, used to make clay vessels. Original clay pots won't have an even colour, but I can see it's all evenly coloured. You can't check the clay quality, the sound indicates whether is there any whole in the pot. Because of making our traditional wares commercial, the families who are all doing it for generations suffering very badly.

Firstly, the products are from the families who are making it for generations and to enable their art to flourish. Secondly, the sound indicates any issues like hairline crack etc to test the finished good. Thirdly, the quality and purity is tested by testing the clay in NABL accredited lab for RoHS which is testing for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. In India, most of us come from places where we have grown up seeing these arts in the making. Appreciate you concern which is the same we have and hence ensure we do our best to help these artisans who have been making it for generations as well as help consumers who are looking for genuine products. @@Zishta can you please help me understand how the pots are evenly colored. Because as of I see, in market they use to color before selling. But if you buy from them directly that won't be even coloured

@@abiramky You should see Mana Madurai co-operative society clayware. Such even coloring and it's obv govt approved. Apparently, to make excellent quality clayware, with good coloring when baked, you need 5 diff types of clay+ river sand. That is how you make high-quality clayware. The clayware uneven ones you saw are no doubt organic too, but it doesn't use high-quality sand-like Mana Madurai. The smooth even coloring clayware, another type is called Terracotta. That's also organic, but with a smoother finish using a diff baking method. Pondicherry is famous for it.

Hi , very useful video , after cooking in claypots , how to clean the food particles in pot ?

While recommended methods are to use salt, lemon etc to clean it, we have found it to be a bit impractical. Suggest to wash with mild dish washing liquid (preferably organic ones and not chemical ones) and scrubber. Avoid steel scrubber. To remove any smell of cooked food from the clay there are 2 options (1) to keep the clay vessel in sunlight for 30 minutes (2) or to pour boiling water in it and leave it aside for an hour

Hello Zishta. Please upload a detailed video on how to season pure iron and cast iron tawa. Please include both the traditional and modern method. The traditional one actually takes a long time and in the place we live in, we are not able to do it properly. I have a pure iron tawa. It's not that heavy. I have to season it with oil before making the dosa and then strip the seasoning once I'm done everyday. This is because while seasoning it my tawa has this stubborn yellowish brown, burnt, sticky, oil stain which is very difficult to remove. Even if I don't remove it, that sticky stuff builds up when make dosas the second time. Also it attracts a lot of dust. I have to use pitambari with some liquid soap and steel wool everyday and scrub it with a lot of effort. I have to dry it and then coat it with oil to prevent rusting. It's really time consuming and tiresome. Am I going wrong somewhere? Please help me out. I wish I could send pictures to show you.
