According to Chino this song is about how they were having late night recording sessions for the record and how he was trying to sleep during the day but having issues with sun coming in through his windows as he tried to block it out.

I think the album is 50 50, half the tracks are gold, half are a bit meh, I preferred Adrenaline in terms of the songs but this one had a much better sound. But the good tracks on this album are 100% bangers!!

We’re gonna see Lex in the mosh pits at a Deftones show. Rosemary and Rocket Skates are two more great songs. I think Brad would like Digital Bath, as it’s nothing like anything they’ve heard so far. It’s such a change up from everything else.

It is meant to stop suddenly, its from a time where everything was more album focused, so it fits in to the next track. A lot of the 90's and early 00's metal and rock you have heard is album stuff, so some of those songs (Deftones, Tool in a big way) the endings are designed to mesh with the start of the next track. I always expect the next track ("Lhabia" ) to start when it ends, it's so engrained in me because I heard this album so much in the 90's. Metal and Rock have always been quite album focused rather than singles

So true man. The CD era was perfect for me in that sense. Sure you could skip a track faster than with cassettes but mostly you would listen to albums as a unit, from start to finish. And artists would build tracklists with a purpose. Not having Lhabia start when this songs ends still feels weird to me (i'm 42). And we hated singles CDs back then, mostly shorter versions for radio, and expensive for what they were!

Sounds like Lex prefers the Around the Fur and Adrenaline sound that the Deftones had. I do too, though i do like what they've evolved into as well.

Chino's lyrics have always been sort of cryptic. More thematic half the time than a specific narrative. Works well with their atmospheric and dynamic sound IMO

I always see that as being influenced by graffiti. Like when you do a piece you sometimes pick a word for how pretty it looks. Or how pretty they sound.

Love the Deftones, great reaction guys. An old school bad ass Deftones song that a lot of people don't react to is Around the fur, it has nice hip hop drum beat with the heavier parts for Lex, check it out!

Wooo! I love this song! This was one of the first songs I had to learn on drums in the 90s. So catchy and chunky! Keep going with them!!!!! You’re both falling for them exactly as I imagined! I LOVE ME SOME DEFTONES! Low key probably my favorite band. Even up to the new album dropped last year. They are so diverse and cover the whole spectrum from the softest cosmic sound to pure metal. Many bands today were inspired by them. There’s so many songs to recommend, just do all of them! Lol. Thanks for this reaction! I stay nostalgia high when I watch most of your videos! Found you guys today. Been bingewatching a bit...much. This band and song bring back a lot of memories. My first big festival Pinkpop in 1998. Saw Deftones for the first time there, still listen to them. They evolved and are still awesome. Saw them a couple of times after. Never disappointed.

I used to go to High school with the bass player's brother. We almost had him sing this song for a talent show so we could play this one. Someone backed out so it didn't get to happen. It would have been fun to see the reaction to the energy lol.

This song is about doing your own thing. Most people would think a sunny day is fun and a cloudy day is sad and gloomy but he is saying in my own summer there is no crowd and no sun. Basically he makes his own mind about stuff.

I’ve watched this one multiple times. I love(d) Lex’s reaction during the 2nd banger chorus so much. Then the 3rd time I specifically watched Brad’s expressions when Lex started rocking out and I literally couldn’t stop laughing out loud 🤘🤣🤘🤣🤘

Interesting she mentions Queen Of The Damned (the Vampire Chronicles adaptation starring Aaliyah,) because Deftones are on that soundtrack, (they’re also on the soundtrack for The Crow: City Of Angels w/ the song “Teething,” if this era Deftones is up your alley.) For more Deftones I definitely recommend “Minerva,” “Kimdracula,” “Diamond Eyes,” “Ohms,” or “Entombed.” Some of my faves, though I love their whole catalogue.

The lyrics are pretty cryptic but basically it's the vocalist Chino talking about the album making process made him have to adopt a Nocturnal sleep schedule so he struggled to sleep during the summer sun and shoving aside everything else to focus on the Album so when it's time to work and he walks the empty night streets of Sacramento wide awake and alone he felt a strange peace of mind through the strain "It's like my own little summer all to myself"

I remember being stupid hyped for this album. This was their second and I was a huge fan of the first album. This was the first song from this one I heard and even immediately with that quick drum fill opening the leap in sound quality from album 1 to this was unreal. I saw them when they were touring on this album and they were amazing. Also I'm not going to lie I'm totally crushing on Lex after her confession of loving Vampire stuff. I have a massive Vampire collection I've been collecting for like 25 years. Funny part is for a long time I didn't even know it. I'd just see some cool Vampire movie or show or book or comic or video game and think "This looks like something I'd like." Then one day I was organizing my stuff and started making a Vampire pile, a Sci-fi pile, a fantasy pile and so on and the Vampire pile just dwarfed all the others combined. Like American Vampire movies and tv shows, Canadian, Mexican, British, French, Japanese and even Korean and Chinese. I mean, I've got Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lastat and Queen of the Damned comic book series! How do I not crush on someone who also loves this stuff? My one Vampire suggestion even though it's very different being as it was made in the very early 90s is a TV show called Forever Knight. It's a must watch even though season 1 has a bit of a slow start I'll admit but it gets soooooo good.
