This might interest. Lead singer Chino Moreno (on Maynard's appearance): "Having Maynard perform on the record wasn't something that we planned on doing. We didn't plan on having any guest on the record. But being a fan of Tool and A Perfect Circle, once Maynard was involved, it was just a magical thing for us. Honestly, when he first started working with us, he wasn't supposed to sing with us. He was just working on the arrangements, riff structures, time signatures, and things like that. I don't know if you're a big fan of Tool's music, but they're really mathematical. I've been to their rehearsal space, and there's this big chart that just looks like calculus--the way they write songs, it's just crazy. It was good to have someone else who has different ways of writing songs, 'cause everyone has a different way of doing it. He came in and we started working on this one song in particular, and he just grabbed the microphone and started singing along to it, and my jaw just dropped. All of a sudden our band sounded like Tool; it was just crazy. Then, probably two months later, we went in to record the album, and I went in to record the vocals on it, and I just kept hearing his voice, this re-occurring melody with his voice coming over it. So I called him and asked him if he wanted to come down and sing on the record, and he had no problem with it. Once he came in, I gave him sort of what I wanted the song to be about, and he wrote a couple of ideas down, and the next day he came in with all the lyrics written all out with blank spaces where my lyrics were supposed to be. He's very professional like that. He wants everything set perfectly, which is the complete opposite to the way that I write, so it was cool. And then I went in and did my vocals over it, and it just seemed that our voices blended together pretty good. Yeah, it came out pretty good, so we decided to put it on the record."

I saw them at the same festival and chino actually threw some shade at Maynard for not wanting to do the appearance for Passenger. But Max Cavalera came out for Head Up it was awesome!

Yupp , the misty windows part was the biggest clue I'd say. Anyone whose had sex in a car with the windows shut knows. Also how fuckin amazing it is to open a window and feel the breeze blown on your bodies.

Type O Negative would also fall into that "Vampire Baby Making Music" They have a very "Intimate" atmosphere and a "Seductive" vibe. "Black No. 1" "Bloody Kisses" and "Christian Woman" would be some good songs to check out. You guys will dig their musicality as well as that atmosphere they create.

Chino said "I did this song with Maynard from Tool. Basically, I told him I wanted to create a scenario of being in a car and being taken for a drive when you don't really know what's going on. I wanted him to create a lot of imagery. he wrote a majority of the of the lyrics and left blanks for me to fill in. It seems like you're being held captive, but enjoy what's going on."

Actually the whole Diamond Eyes album is amazing. It’s constantly in my rotation of favorite albums. Brad would probably dig ‘Sextape’ from that album along with ‘Digital Bath’ from White Pony.

I listened to this whole album on repeat on a 4 day bus ride from Quebec City to Edmonton AB in 2004. I’ll tell you this song hits different when you’re 3 days in with no sleep slipping in and out of consciousness at 3am on a bus in the middle of unknown land.

I love how the Deftones play with tempo in a lot of their pieces. It becomes a huge focal point to draw attention to certain lyrics. I know it is a tool that musicians do play with, but it's something Deftones use a lot

You two have been killing it with your reaction videos .. I’m a big Tool , Deftones , Pink Floyd and A Perfect Circle fan … you should really check out some Ashes Divide .. The guy who formed this band is Billy Howerdel , started out as a guitar tech for tool then started A perfect Circle with Maynard , He actually writes a lot of APC songs .. He showed Maynard some of the stuff he was working on for himself and Maynard supported him to do a solo project and that is Ashes Divide

As far as vampire music, Deftones does have song on the queen of the damned soundtrack. Which was also coproduced by Jonathan Davis of Korn. The soundtrack is definitely a whole vibe.

One of my favorite songs ever about being alone in a car at night with the one you love. Getting down n dirty n not giving a single f$&k who sees anything. All while not wanting the night to end and just keep going. That’s my take on it anyway and yea still one of my favorite songs ever!

For Halloween, you should listen to Halloween from Helloween. It's my favorite Halloween song! Another great song is Ayreon - The Day That the World Breaks Down. It has 11 singers and great lyrics and music. One of the best albums to listen to is Operation Mindcrime from Queensryche. The whole album tells a story.

This was the album where Deftones explored a new wave n yes drugs were involved, I love the baby making thinking was a kool plus, but it was you chillin wit your friend n the drug of choice kicked in, that scenario in words but it was an a word play of being sexual , as when you first make love n that feeling to come back again
