To clarify: I dont think this means there will be No more conflicts in Luffy's dream world. Luffy's dream would encourage a clash of ideals and beliefs over the false peace of suppressing beliefs. The world government runs their world on fear and restriction. Friends does not mean no fighting.
Even regular people can be pirates, and the reason i say that is Dr. Hiriluk who was such a big inspiration for Chopper for pirates. He was just a man who believed in a dream and his flag was a claim to his belief and commitment of his life to a purpose and faith! We need more hiriluk!

Meghan theory on luffy wanting everyone to become pirates is so good as it fits his character so well and is impossible enough for it to make sense. Freedom is such a important concept in OP that the definition of freedom to luffy being a pirate makes sense. I also saw that buying the world as a reference to the gaimon arc also somewhat follow these lines as luffy will buy everyone freedom from the world government but the Former dream makes more sense xD.

But, wouldn't that take away from the freedom of someone like Coby who genuinely wanted to be a Marine? Definition of freedom doesn't mean becoming a pirate. It's about doing what you want. What if someone doesn't want to be a pirate? I don't think Luffy would want people to believe that going out to the sea is the only way of freedom. Just look at Coby. Luffy found him on a pirate ship and he said that he wants to become a Marine. And, Luffy motivated him to go ahead.

@Erth Louis I think for Luffy being a pirate is not necessarily the occupation but more of a title for the action of letting others be free. Freedom of choice for all. That's probably how the ancient kingdom operated as well, everyone was a 'pirate' in title only because functionally they were something else.

As fun as this sounds I don't think Luffy would have this dream, he understood that being a pirate will not earn you freedom by itself, that is why he wanted to be the Pirate King and not just a simple pirate. Being the Pirate King means having the most freedom, but remember what it really meant to be the King, in Luffy's mind the person who can't protect his friends have no right being the King, that was why right after Marineford Luffy for the first time in his life doubts his own chances: " I am week!!!!" he understood the price of freedom is strength. There is also the problem that even he understand not everyone deserves freedom, that is why he fought against his idealogical opposites, why he takes their dreams away by beating them up, because there will always be people that imposes their freedom upon another's suffering, and the world of pirates means open season on the weak. Luffy recognize that the marines exist for a reason, and are even looked upon as heroes by the people of the world, possiblely owning to the fact that his own grandfather is the hero of the Marines and the people, if he really believed that being pirates is good for everyone then why would he encourage Cody to one day become a great marine?

And I just remembered one more point against this theory, Luffy stated that he would stop being a pirate if the Dark King reveals what he knew about the One Piece, saying that he refuse to go on a boring adventure. I really don't think he meant he would give up on freedom if One Piece is no longer worth his time, he would go on adventures and live freely as long as he lives pirate or no, it is just that pursuing One Piece itself would make the WG label him a pirate regardless that he ended up a pirate at all, instead of an adventurer.

I think a lot of people miss the fact that if you’re not in the navy or at least a navy, then sailing from island to island automatically makes you a pirate which is illegal. We’ve seen this with the minks, kuja. And fish men

Par community has grown over this past year and have enjoyed talking with everyone in the discord! This is good, but would chopper be super happy thinking about marines specifically? I think luffys dream could be to become friends with literally every single person in the world. Chopper would be amazed by that. Also all luffy wanted as a kid was a friend, chasing ace and sabo.

W video - love Meghan’s idea from Vol One, I haven’t actually heard that before that video they posted. The very fact that being Pirate King is a stepping stone to Luffy’s true dream speaks volumes. It’s also amazing to me how Shanks laughed and cried at what Luffy said, just like how Roger laughed and cried at what Joyboy left. The One Piece is probably directly related to Luffy’s dream although he doesn’t know it.

This theory makes so much sense! One of the greatest ability of Luffy, if not the greatest, is to be able to make friends in a very short time. Friendship between all parties is naive, idealistic and challenging which fits Luffy's character 100%.

I can see it happening. Luffy and strawhats have worked together many times, Luffy likes Fujitora to the point he was just telling him about the hits he was going to do. Pirates cheered, and saluted Luffy and Zoro, Coby and Luffy get along since Coby was a child. And of course there's more. But uniting the pirates as he becomes the pirate king is the way he can try to make it happen. And then again Odasaan could end up flipping the script and shock us like Enel!

the chapter with koby and the whole capt morgan arc backs this theory up ten fold. he supported koby being a marine and explicitly said, “but we’ll always be friends”. he heard zoro was a pirate hunter and still was adamant about making him a pirate. tbh, most of his crew didn’t want to become/hated pirates before meeting luffy. so nami’s reaction was perfect.

Idk if you’ve noticed but this theory is actually something you and Sy have both been dancing around for a good while. Many times I’ve heard you both talk about the aftermath of Luffy taking down the world government and how the marines aren’t the bad guys. This makes the most sense out of all the theories I've heard especially considering the first friend of Luffy's we see is Koby and I doubt as a Pirate King and Koby maybe being an admiral he'd want to make Koby his enemy. This could also make sense with this being Roger's dream as we see he was friends with Garp and probably Sengoku

This is the best breakdown and one of the best theorys, its so simple not many would guess it shoutout to syv for seeing the simplicity in luffys character to crack the theory and shoutout for parvision for immediately understanding how on point and how shounen this theory is and is right in our faces just like how Gear5 was but many couldnt see,oda set up luffy making relationships even psudeo relationships with the marines(such as with smoker) for a reason kudos to making one of the best theories guys

I loved this ever since I saw the stream with sy and I'm pretty sure I'd keep loving this theory even if it doesn't come out to be true ❣️

I think this is similar to the "what is luffys devil fruit if it's not the gum gum?" Theory panic that happened. So many people are coming up with these ideas that at the core, are very very similar. Or that could have a singular connection, that we just don't have knowledge of, making it almost impossible to actually predict, but when it gets shown the fanbase will be like "well that makes sense, it's what we were thinking just with that oda twist"
