Wow! Oh, I have so many questions I could ask you. My husband I are considering a move to Bangor. Would you be willing to give me a general sense of the town itself? Any details I would certainly appreciate. We really want Bangor as it's close to Acadia National Park. Thank you in advance!

@@nikkivenable3700I live in Bangor, I do not go to Acadia since my front lawn is literally a park. This is the best place in the world. Safe, quiet and friendly. We have lakes all over. hiking trails, a really big river and a hell lot of beer breweries. So I am not leaving anytime soon.

@@Fajah69 WOW! Thank you for your reply! My husband and I, just this week, are trying to figure out how to build a home there. I live in the Midwest and it's pretty easy. In Maine, you need to buy the land first, I guess.(We emailed Maine Construction Group). Do you, with your extensive traveling, have any advice for whom I should contact when moving to another state? We have lived in the same place our entire lives and have no idea. A realtor? Chamber of Commerce? We are clueless... If you happened to build a home in Bangor, could you give me a brief reply on how to get started? After reading your reply, I want to move there even more and I didn't think that was possible.
@Fajah693 жыл бұрын
@@nikkivenable3700 My thought is you need to coordinate with a local real estate company for that (Google "Realty of Maine"). They are the biggest here and they can guide you. They helped me buy a home here and it was very easy.

@@Fajah69 Ok, wow, thank you! We will do that right away...I can't thank you enough! I was looking through the realtors in Bangor and had no idea who's good and who's not....there are reviews, but those are often not reliable.

I lived in Bangor after my dad was transferred from Guam. He was there for the closing of the Air Force Base. I remember snow you could see between the runways that lasted well into June. I worked those two summers in Forest Lawn Cemetery working for Mr Lester running a mower. Beautiful city, warm people. We had lived in Portsmouth for five years and the winters in Bangor were every bit as cold but the city was such a warmer place to be. This was back in 1966-67.

😁 Hi James! I'd say the majority of people who live in the Bangor area love it here. The wife and I moved up from Portland years ago and it was the best decision of our lives. If you enjoy the great outdoors and still want the entertainment, restaurants, shopping etc then it's the perfect place to live. Hope to see you around!
@johnddhs18203 жыл бұрын
I hear ya James. I lived there for years and I was really looking forward to this video, but I was really disappointed. A doctors going to some bars downtown and a bunch of advertisements, does not a video make. I will say that I loved, loved, loved every moment of my time there. I worked for the Federal Government and due to budget cuts, my position was cut. Or else I’d still be there. I just took early retirement and I want to go back, but am trying to convince my wife. She is not a fan of driving in the snow. lol But there are some great areas to live away from downtown and it’s actually preferable to do so. I lived over by the airport on Ohio St. had a nice 2 story townhouse for 700 per month. If you desire more land, Herman is the next town over, on the other side of the airport. Lots of open land to be had there and some nice homes. 10 mins from Bangor. Bangor is a very Chill city. People do the speed limit. Everyone is friendly. The mall is nice. There’s a fairly new Walmart put in. The customer service, everywhere you go, is very friendly. Highly recommended.

@@bootlegapples , I spent hours today watching Bangor videos. I just never really heard real Mainer dialects. I'm formally trained in dialects. So many were faking being native. @@kingrat2465 Well I'm a Masshole native and former Mainer(NH too).As an adult I now appreciate my being dragged there by my stepfather from the housing projects when I was a kid because I now see the value of knowing how to grow,raise and hunt your own food,knowing how to fix things yourself and the value of frugality.I'm not talking about pet gardens or hunting as a hobby like here in Mass.Forgive me but it irks me when people dump on rural white people just because it's politically acceptable.We had family friends who were dirt poor who we helped out in times of need (not that we were even middle class,we heated our house with wood and froze our asses off at night).I knew people from trailer parks,from virtual shacks without running water too.(more poor than any of my neighbors in Dorchester or Brockton MA)I new many fine people who were sincere genuine people and I feel privileged to have spent 5 years of my youth in Maine.Maybe I misread you and if so my apologies.

I love Maine more than any of the other 36 states I've visited or lived in. If you're an adult male, you absolutely must stick close to a long-haired blonde female for protection from the cops. If your tags say MA, fogetabot it, may as well be Boone County KY. Ya goin ta jail son. And the funniest thing is, even if you live and work in AZ, you're going back to the Vacationland license plate that you don't have one day, four hours each week for six weeks. If on the other hand, you're in a nice vehicular with a gorgeous blonde, the cop will swallow his tongue for real, let you go, and go back to his cruiser and crap himself. For real. Gorgeous, wonderful state. But they should...aw f it. Maine cops are not trained for anything but giving out bad tickets to boost their economy and justify police jobs.

I was looking for some reminiscing of my years spent living there, but all I got is a doctor who likes to go to bars, and a ton of advertisements. Many in Portland, which no real Mainer would live. Nothing about the newly refurbished airport. Nothing about the driving distance camping areas, like Brownville Junction. Nothing about Dysart’s Restaurant, which serves the best breakfast I’ve ever had in Maine. And perhaps anywhere. And is a favorite of Stephen and Tabitha King.
