For any viewers coming from Danni - Shannon is the most lovely soul - she's been an absolute joy to watch - and the wonderful motivation she gives me is always a huge help. It also helps when she shares her own insecurities and troubles - I think that's a blessing because there's so much shame that can be associated with not being perfect and Shannon deals with that with grace and wisdom. I adore Danni, by the way, I've loved her for years - she's a gem - both ladies have such positive energy and both ladies are learning and it's a joy to share their journey.

I like cleaning better when I break it into smaller areas and keep in mind how much I'll like it when it's done. For example, the sink and vanity in my bathroom need cleaning more often than the toilet or shower/tub, so I just do the vanity

I hate all cleaning - vacuuming, dusting, bathrooms, kitchens etc. etc. etc. However, I love organizing. I love to declutter. I love things to be picked up and neat and straightened out, but my furniture needs dusting, my carpets need vacuuming and cleaning, my bathroom gets cleaned every week, thoroughly, and my kitchen is maintained but the oven is disgusting, and the refrigerator could do with a sort out. I wipe up what I see and spills, of course, but all of my corners need help. I have 4 cats, so the battle is real people. Cat hair 27/7. So, I do vacuum but the cat hair still wins, and my corners are hard to get to with furniture being so heavy but I'm working on it. I do projects better than deep cleaning. I live in an old house, and I have 4 outlets in my kitchen, and you have 4 in one corner of your cupboards - jealous! I already follow Dani and love her quirkiness - besides, we are fellow Minnesotans. Fun collab. You've got this girl.🔆🔆🔆

I grew up the same way. My mom was super woman SAHM. She kept a tidy house, fed and picked up after three girls and a husband. We didn’t have any chores until my parents separated. We were 9, 11, and 13. Mom was going through an awful depression. So us girls decided we needed to help mom in our new home. The oldest did the laundry, the middle one did all the dusting and the youngest took out the garbage. As we grew up our chores changed. But again I made a mistake in raising my own the same way plus holding a job outside the home. I couldn’t do it all. I’m so thankful that my spouse took on grocery shopping and laundry and I could do the putting away and folding/hanging. He even took on occasional cooking. I do still regret not delegated some of the household chores to my sons. But I had friends that kind of shamed me for not doing all the chores during the time I was a SAHM and part time outside the home worker. The struggle is real. Letting go of all the baggage is necessary. You’re an awesome person Shannon. Thanks for the motivation!

Pro 14:4 - “Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.” This verse greatly encouraged me when I was homeschooling my children. I kept busy daily picking up after and ministering to my children but, oh, how rich my life was (and remains today) because of my precious family.

I am so glad I found your channel...I SO DON"T LIKE TO CLEAN MY HOUSE!!! When I was your age, I was a single mom and did what I felt like I was supposed to do. My house was always clean and my friends used to tell me I was always cleaning... I think I used it all up!! I'm 60 now (can't believe that either) and I don't want to do anything :-( I have a cat so I know I need to vacuum more but I don't. My house isn't piled or anything but I just don't want to sweep, or dust, or clean..... HELP!! I love how you share scripture and your faith. Keep it up girl! I think you are amazing!! 🙂

I disassociate from cleaning. I am listening to music or a favourite radio programme, talking written a friend while my hands are busy creating a comfortable environment. I choose to consider cleaning not a chore, but doing something needed to feel better, like washing my hair, doing my nails, exfoliating, brushing my teeth or clipping my toe nails, nothing enjoyable in itself but something that's part of my self care routine. And of course it's very important finding methods to be as effective as possible and to keep it clean/tidy as long as possible, to avoid feeling it's an endless battle that takes too much of my time.

Oh girl! I feel you about the quick to anger thoughts. My husband also spoils me. I was fussing about how the laundry was being done this weekend, while my wonderful hubby was having a folding party. I just had to voice it and wanted him to hear me out. :) I am very grateful for him and all he does. I just can't keep all my thoughts in my head. I know he blows it off with tons of grace. But I am doing a better job at keeping thoughts to myself but have a way to go. I too have people in my life that reinforce those negative thoughts about my motherly/wifey duties. I have a great husband that makes sure, I don't believe what I'm told. And I am better at crossing those ideas of others from my mind.

Love your videos. The mystery stainless steel kitchen appliance with holes and cups is an egg poacher. Hi Shannon, I’m so happy that Danni introduced you. I have written to Danni to let her know that I have issues with cleaning and decluttering. I’m really overwhelmed; I tend to clean the same things over and over, then I’m too tired to actually start the actual decluttering stuff lol. My dream is similar to yours in that I picture a lovely, clean, decluttered home whereas the counters are cleared and I can actually make a cup of coffee without pushing things out of the way first. I dream of the beautiful aroma of clean. Actually I must be dreaming about living in someone’s home that’s not mine lmao. I’m trying though. I recently watched clutterbug and she explained to try to toss 21 items a day as a goal. I’m trying and getting there slowly, but it does make me feel good to do it.❤

I can't say it enough, you're a ray of sunshine. So when I don't want to do one of the chores on my list of things to do, I try and remind myself how long will it really take and how good it will feel to be on the other side of it. I can't honestly say I 'enjoy' the chores but I've begun to love the feeling of getting it done, and walking back into the house when the bathroom is clean, or the vacuuming has been done. I wipe down the trash can, or the inside the microwave when I first notice it is dirty. But my kids are older now, and I'm sure I just had so much going on when my kids were your kids' ages, that like you, I could sit down for a second and be asleep almost immediately. Feel free to prioritize, and teach each child how to do one thing in the house they would enjoy doing as part of their responsibility. You'd be surprised- plus, know their personality. I was a social person that enjoyed doing something WITH another person. Some need to be left alone to get the job done. You're doing a great job!

My prayers this morning were to receive more humility, to recognize what I have because my husband works, to be content and thankful. Devotional was at 5:30 this morning and Shannon was at 9:30. God sent me reinforcements, SHANNON 🎉. You have blessed my day and kicked my stinking thinking out the door. Bless you!!

I can relate to having a pessimistic mindset. I'm not married but a "friend" is staying with me for now and he is a slob to say the least 🤷🏾‍♀️. He does wash the dishes and his clothes but it's at his leisure so with that the clothes will sit on the floor in front of the washer for over a month. He never cleans the stove. I work and go to school and I clean up behind myself (as I should) so I'm always doing something so with his ways I have more work to do. Just patience and give alot of grace. I don't expect a deep clean every day but if you make a sandwich put the stuff back in the fridge don't leave it on the counter and wipe up any crumbs. I don't see how married people deal with it. It's good you and your husband has worked out something that works for y'all.

You are definitely my soul sister. I used to base my worth on the cleanliness of my house too. It’s exhausting, both mentally and physically. I would also blame, and feel resentful towards my family for not helping me, and letting me do all of the work. Years later my son said, Mom, it was too hard to help you because no matter what we did, it wasn’t good enough. Boy did that hit me in the gut. Thank you for being the real deal. I always look forward to your videos.

Giiiirrrrl, my mother had a full-time job as a maritime clerk and customs declaring agent. She got home and the entire household fell on her. My dad? The poor lad (sheesh) vacuumed and did the dishes. At least he helped, but the laundry, ironing, rest of the cleaning tasks? It all fell on her. She barely slept 4-6H and then next day, early days, had to get to work. My dad drove to work, my mom went by train (Antwerp harbor) and then had to still walk a while. Only 2/3rds into her career did she go to work by car. My father had it easy, though she never ever complained, I never heard a peep from her. Back then (my mom is 78) it is what women did in my country. If you wanted a career, you had to pay the price so to speak. Women actually got punished for wanting a career. And my dad just shrugged and said "I don't make you have to work." but thanks to my mother we have our own home (my dad could care less if he owned a house or not). Women are so underestimated. And yes, when I was a teen, I helped my mom, I learned to do laundry, I learned so many things. My mom comes from a home of 10 children and she was the eldest girl, so all of a lot fell on her back then as well, no wonder there was never a peep out of her, she grew up like that. Her doctor once told her when she once asked about working out (because it was all the rage) "if you work full-time, if you run your own house top to bottom, you have enough exercise"... and boy ain't that the truth!

Hi Shannon. Just a thought about the espresso machine, maybe put a cheap sponge in the reservoir to catch the overflow, and then just rinse and wring it dry and replace it (you can also put them in the dishwasher). Them drips are going to happen and it may be easier than using the napkins to soak it up.

Girl, I hear you about the espresso machine! I never use it - I actually can’t drink coffee that strong - and it drives me bonkers when both the machine and the area around it are dirty. But then I remember hubby works all day, making it possible for me to be a homemaker and do my own things, so cleaning the espresso machine is not so big of a deal, I can do it, and I’m happy he gets to use a clean machine.

Agree 💯 with the negative vs positive thinking, however, I don't think you're being pessimistic when you are irritated that someone leaves behind their messes for you to clean up, even someone you love, even someone who does sweet things for you. Leaving his mess with the expectation that you will clean it up is inconsiderate, and it's clear that he loves and cares for you, so it shouldn't be difficult for him to not leave messes for you. I'm really bad about leaving a mess in my bathroom in the morning, I'm working on it. But I don't expect anyone else to clean it up for me.

The resetting (erica lucas) mentality has helped me most recently. And having a weekly loop schedule in place for my home helps. Moving from the abstract to focused. Knowing what needs to be done and will get done. Lessens the mental load. Helps recovery after sickness. No wondering of where to start.

"Cleaning is a family responsibility in our household. We encourage our children to keep their bedrooms tidy and clean up after themselves. They are also responsible for taking their clothes upstairs and putting them away. To ensure that they have enough time for their after-school activities, we limit the number of chores they have to do."

hi Shannon, great cleaning today. I've just finished cleaning the oven, a job I hate doing, like you my attitude is why do I have to be the one who cleans but today I tackled it with a positive attitude and its now all sparkling clean. I'm already subscribed to Danni, she is funny and even funnier when she is with her mum. Keep well xxx.

Shannon, the thoughts you mentioned while you were cleaning your coffee maker really resounded with me today, and it made me realize I've got to switch up some of the negative thoughts that come into my mind so easily. Thank you for that. Also, Steven is a keeper! I love his gentle, caring heart! Thanks for being more stubborn than the devil and getting this video out!! 💜💜💜 I think you foiled his plan beautifully. 😉👏🏼👊🏼👍🏼🫶🏼

I love your videos. Theyre always inspiring for me. I get tge socks thing. I hadnt worn socks in years. In winter when its cold here in jersey, i just always wore uggs without socks. If you keep your pedi up during winter, theres no dead skin to make them stinky. Suddenly this past fall, im always wearing socks. Sometimes 2 pair. Not only to keep my feet warm but for some reason, my feet hurt less with them on. Im also full of inflammation, i have lupus, fibro, sjogrens and RA. I mean, why just have one problem when you can have many, lol? Anyway, i started taking a beginner yoga class almost a month ago, once a week, and it does help with the inflammation and flexibility. I bump into things often so when i started, i had problems with some of the balancing but im keeping up with it and yesterday morning i took a 2nd begin class in a week and i didnt have to put my other foot down to rebalance myself at all!! Its definitely helping with that. Ive also noticed that when i have to go somewhere else to exercise, it makes me feel better mentally too. Its time thats just for me, ive met several women who also started bc it helps the inflammation they have from chronic pain/illness, bc im putting in that effort for myself, im naturally going more towards the healthier foods and wanting to be more active. We're all different so idk if something like that would be helpful for you, i just figured id mention it bc if anyone needs time to themselves and self care, its you. You work, you have the kids and dogs and homeschooling, plus a house and a hubby. Whatever it is, i hope you find the time for the selfcare that we all need and deserve, whether it be an exercise class, a book club or kicking the hubby and kids out for the day so you take a bubble bath and order whatever takeout food you want without having to worry about cost or picky eaters!❤😂
