For Father’s Day I got my husband a notebook and every year I’ll add to it by having the kid(s) draw a picture for him and I will write a letter to him. That way as the years go on the pictures will improve and he can look back at the letters from me! ❤

Your gift to Steven is so heartfelt. I'm inspired to find my husband's place to organize for him. Father's Day ideas: have kids clean and detail his car, clean the barbecue, movie night with a guy flick, coupon from the kids for weeding, yard work, etc. Hugs for your day.

As I've gotten older, I really appreciate gifts that go away, like a gift card, a special food that I like, such as pepper jelly, theres an apple syrup I love that I have to order... a candle, a new flavored salsa, my favorite lotion..anything for my garden..etc..I don't need "things" any more..unless it's a plant 😂

My husband loved the last gift I gave him. It was a coupon book I gave him with 1 coupon saying he could get a five minute back rub, another one was for a car wash, another for a 30 minute full body machine, two hours of time where he could do whatever he wanted without being bothered. I did a total of 20 coupons.

The best way I’ve found to give “good” gifts that people actually want and appreciate is to figure out their love language and give accordingly. My husband’s love languages are acts of service and words of affirmation so this would have been right up his ally!

I’m not an actual expert on cheesecakes but the idea I’ve got over the years is that the New York cheesecake is the type you bake in the oven vs the ones you just use gelatine and put in the fridge to firm up. And the oven baked ones, it is supposed to sink down when it’s cooling after oven and even some cracks on the top are fine. If you bake it with bain-marie (is that the word?) then it doesn’t crack, but then also the top and edges isn’t supposed to be brown and it’s not a New York cheesecake. So I’m trying to say your cheesecake turned out just fine! ☺️ And now I’m craving for some too…

For fathers day, what about a hand made coupon book, for things like a foot rub, a favorite meal, help with an outside chore. Have the kids think of something they can help daddy do and give him a coupon from each of them...something easy and age appropriate.. maybe help washing the car..you know him better than anyone so, I'm sure you could come up with things to personalize it.

Wrote a reason why I loved him in each one (a different reason in each… Yes it took forever) Then told him to take it to work and told him when he was having a bad day and needed a “kiss” to get one. He loved it. ❤️ Really made his day. What I am currently doing (he doesn’t know), inside every picture I give him, I am writing him a letter about my love for him. Where we are in life. Ect. He has found one. Lol. But hasn’t found any of the others. 😂 The one he found was 5 years old.

What is it?! Classic 😂😂😂 Exactly what would happen to me, lol. I have two wonderful daughters-in-law but I always seem to say the wrong thing to one of them. Sigh, I try. I think the cheesecake was probably great. I make it pretty often from a Southern Living recipe. It's best if you put the springform pan in a large roasting pan with water up about 1 inch on the cheesecake pan. I like to make it late at night so there aren't any distractions. I am a night owl though. I loved the thought you put into Stephen's gifts. I'm sure he appreciated them. I absolutely loved this video! You're adorable! Take care, Linda 🦋

I’ve been procrastinating on a lot of things. I think the sheer volume of tasks feels overwhelming. I remember a time in 2013 when I decided to change this. My mantra was “Just do it. Do it now.” Unless it was a bigger project in which case I take at least some action. The past year has been full of family illnesses & deaths. It all sucked the wind out of my sails. But, I’ve started getting some energy back and I’m getting things done again.

We have a family recipe for cheesecake girl and all you need is a couple ingredients to make it and you can use a blender to mix it not a mixer. So I buy the pre made crusts to a blender I add 1 lechera sweetened condensed milk that’s going to be your sweetness and then add 1 and 1/2 blocks of cream cheese and to that add 3 eggs blend together in blender and pour out onto your two crust. Put in the oven for 45 minutes or until golden on top for 325• that’s it it’s sweet but not too sweet not too many ingredients. My sisters and mom have done it this way for years and it’s still a crowd favorite. Hope you try it.

What you said about giving/recieving gifts is exactly how I feel. So my husband and I stopped years ago to give us gifts for Christmas. In our family we usually ask what people wish for their birthday. The best gift for me is time. So my bff usually gifts me time: eating diner, movie, theatre or something like that. So we spend time together. Or I rather like getting a gift card so I can buy something useful.

You did great girl!! The drawer was such a great idea and the dinner! The cheesecake I bet was so yummy. I like to make cheesecakes a few tips I use- Water bath, Water bath, Water bath!!! Also- I like to leave the cheesecake in the oven for an hour after with the heat off- then pull out to cool after you run a knife around the edge to loosen it from the pan. The biggest trick- don’t open the oven to check if at all possible- I turn on the light and wiggle the door and if it’s just wiggly in center a bit it’s ready then don’t open door until after its been cooling in that oven with the heat off for one hour. Mmmm I think I’ll make a white chocolate raspberry one soon!

Calcium deposits. Just soak a paper towel in vinegar (careful not to tear it so do it on the spot where you want it), and sop that around the tap. Leave it for at least about 4H, so overnight would be ideal. Voilà. It is amazing for calcium deposits. We use it do decalcify the coffee maker (3/4ths vinegar to water ratio) and just let it make coffee a couple times. Then do a couple plain water times and you're set. It is very useful for cleaning but amazing on calcium deposits, wherever they may be!

Now, I'm currently trying to fast, so I'll have to watch the cooking part tomorrow! But that bathroom came up beautifully, and thank you for the reminder that it's often so quick to do the task that's been burdening your mind - and then its done and gone and that's always such a relief. That calcium deposit clean-up hack was so appreciated! You should put that hack into a short, I think it's that valuable. I think the drawer liner was a very good look, I was thinking how serendipitous it was for you to find such a great pattern out of the blue like that when you said it wasn't the best looking 😊 I've have heard of families who'll fill a wish jar with a task they'll do for - so dad can give pull a 'kids help dad with the garden' or 'kids give mum and dad a couple of hours quiet time' - that sort of thing?

Gift receiving thing is real. And this is from a gift giver. I now get not wanting to open in front of people, the pressure. I can appreciate their thoughtfulness and how they wanted to give it to me. They did. Then I get to decide if it's something I will use or not and proceed accordingly. Don't aim to be a good faker, there is value in knowing yourself and simply recognizing an item doesn't serve you or isn't your jam, yet they got to enjoy giving it and I receive that while passing along items I don't care for. 👍

I love your videos!!! You are so sweet and considerate and you did a great job for his birthday and fathers day celebrations! I had to find ways to make healthier versions of food for celebrations so I'd have better energy the following week or so. Cheat meals are so needed but ingredients I usually avoid can really throw me for a loop! My swap for chicken fried steak was to use unflavored pea protein instead of flour for breading, fry in grapeseed or avocado oil, and do mashed cauliflower with avocado oil instead of butter for mashed potatoes. The dairy/butter in white gravy is tough to sub out... But arrowroot powder instead of flour for thickener can cut down on the workload in addition to gluten. Just add to cold milk before heating and then bring it to heat and let sit, then bring to temperature for serving. You can do this in the vitamin... they will make hot foods for you no stirring.

FYI, not sure if you’re aware of this or not but to remove stickers or adhesive from new items there are 2 things that work amazing. The easiest, cleanest one is to use a steamer. Hit the area with steam and the sticker or adhesive will come off like magic. If no access to steamer then baby oil or another type of oil will remove it super easy as well

I know you have a nice backyard patio. It may need a nice clean-up Have the kids help you get it set and give him a special place to cookout for lunch and relax as a family. It really doesn't take much to let a man know you appreciate him. I am agreeing with another person who posted about a movie night -- perhaps after the cook-out. If Stephen likes comedies than maybe one of the Daddy's Home. Or for a really good Father movie, I recommend The Chef with Jon Favreaux.

I’m exactly the same with giving and getting gifts… Shampoo is the go-to gift I give. Wow! Have you tried the cool whip, cream cheese, powdered sugar cheesecake? Delicious and fast!

Granulated Garlic! I had to do a search as I had no idea what you used for the chicken fried steak batter lol ! I appreciate you showing you making it so I can try it myself! Thanks for another awesome video and that drawer being fixed is terrific! Happy belated birthday to your dear husband. :)

Yes, Garlic powder! Sorry to send you in into an investigation for that, I did not do a very good job explaining the ingredients 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thank you for you sweet words ❤️❤️

Why did it take me 4 hours to deep clean my bedroom and my bathroom? I am determined to deep clean this entire house before we venture out on our summer vacations. I've deep cleaned the basement and all of the downstairs resulting in - 15 bags of donations and five bags of trash. Now I am upstairs, man am I tired.

Calcium deposits? All you need is vinegar! Leave it to work for a bit and see the deposits go away easily. For the toilet bowl use also vinegar or inexpensive cleaning tablets for dentures, just a couple will do. Leave them to work overnight and just finish with some light scrubbing in the morning. Much less toxic than using all those chemical products.

Calcium around faucets. Soak a paper towel in white vinegar and leave it. Come back later and it will clean up easily.

I've been making cheesecakes, both baked and unbaked, for more than 30 years. Different recipes have very different textures and flavors, even with similar ingredients. I mostly stick to a favored 3 or 4 of each these days. Even with experience, baked cheesecakes can be tricky. One that is overdone will be more dry and crumbly, but too underdone is not edible. I like a creamy cheesecake (favorite: chocolate chip) and that is the trickiest to get right. Sinking and cracking are common. Baking in a water bath and cooling for an hour in place (just turn off the oven and leave the door open), then on the counter for another hour before refrigerating seems to help.
