i felt like you would like this and i was right! you understood his message perfectly: he really isn’t viewing himself as someone important. he’d rather be a “friend” than a “trendsetter” and he’s rather show his flaws than brag about how rich he is. bts is past the point of caring about fame: they already are famous. what amazes me about them is how they CONSTANTLY talk about keeping themselves grounded. it’s a repeating theme in their songs, their interviews, they conversations. when rm was asked about how he manages to stay true to himself after all these years, he said this: “If there’s 100% of success, then I’ll give half to the Armys, so like 50%. I’ll give 15 percent to our company as well. Then I’ll give like 5 percent each [to the members], so that’s 35. So if it’s a trophy, my percent is like, 5, it’s the edge of a trophy."

He's RM of BTS. He's not going solo. Like the rest of the members, he's taking a break from group projects to focus on himself, grow & mature with his solo projects. The best of both worlds to have that much creative freedom. He's an artist.

The whole album, "Indigo", is amazing and contains a variety of genres, including R&B. I hope you'll react to other songs in the album. Another one that has an MV is "Wildflower". You said you didn't listen to much upbeat songs. RM's previous album, "mono", is more melancholic, so you'll probably like it. In case you don't know, over the years, BTS members have released many solo work. All the rappers have released mixtapes and all the singers have released singles. They even have solo songs within BTS albums. However, they will be enlisting for mandatory military service, as required by Korean law, so they won't be able to perform as a group for a couple of years (they plan to reconvene in 2025 after their service is over). So they're currently focusing on solo work. Beside RM, J-hope has also released an album called Jack in the Box, a great album, and Jin has released a single, The Astronaut, a great song. Jin, the oldest member, will be the first to enlist.

RM has had done 2 solo mixtapes in the past RM (2015) and mono. (2018), but this song is from his first official solo album called Indigo. All 7 members of BTS will be enlisting in the Korean military soon (service is 18-21 months) so they are working on solo music right now but they are still very much a group and continue to work on other content together. Jin who is the oldest member in BTS will be enlisting December 13th.
