In this footage the levels only really pick up after the minute mark... a lot of running in a straight line... would put Sonic Forces to shame.

The sound track to the first one was amazing but shmovement in the Sonic CD animation was the best one. Aeiral spindash/homing attack was a great add. Something seems a bit off on his sprint animation from the back though.

I feel like the way to traverse to open zones should be the common levels that we know where back and forth there are many different avenues to take, but once you complete the level you have either a fast travel path, but there is enough incentive added to taking the long way back that it pushes you to play them backward and forward. I feel that that would be a great way to retain the level designs we know to expect in a Sonic game

This is great and all, and there is some good ideas, but. It just feels like another standard sonic game? nothing really new or exciting? On my other channel Digital_Adventuring_Party, I discuss the ideas for a new TYPE of Sonic game, that would really push the series in a new direction. Rather than doing the overused run in a straight line with slightly different themed obstacles.
