The best part of the 2K Showcase in WWE 2K23 has yet to be revealed...
SPOILER WARNING
This video and the description from here on out contains spoilers for the end of the WWE 2K23 2K Showcase!
....
For those wanting to know more, after completing all of the historical matches and their objectives, players can unlock 3 additional bonus matches.
The first bonus match is a players choice match that asks you to select John Cena's toughest opponent, leading to a special match up and cutscene...
The second bonus match sees you take on "Super Cena", which is a 100 rated version of John Cena that plays up to the "You Can't See Me" meme by having you take on an INVISIBLE John Cena!
After defeating Super Cena, the final bonus match see's you play as Cena against the biggest star of the 70s (Bruno Sammartino), 80s (Hulk Hogan) and 90s (Stone Cold Steve Austin).
If you're successful in defeating these legends you'll unlock a special ending message from John Cena thanking you for playing the 2K Showcase.
From my experience playing WWE 2K23, these bonus matches were the best part about the mode, as the historical matches were very "stop, start" due to the objectives and the long running cutscenes.

The invisible John Cena reminds of being able to play as Al Snow's foreign object, Head in the PS1 game WWF Attitude. Head was just a floating mannequin head with gloves & boots.

That's a 40 minute match, if they wanted to do it the players would complain it was too long and boring, had they half assed it players would've complained they are lazy. I can see why they didn't include it.

@@doctorsam5771 - Didn't they include HBK vs Bret Hart's 60 minute Iron Man match in like WWE'13 or 2K14? I don't think many people complained about it, and I don't remember if it was a full 60 minute match or if it was cut up due to having to complete objectives.

@@doctorsam5771 the match itself wouldn't be 40 mins it would just be us doing objectives for about 10 mins with the cutscene (that Is skipable) will tell the story

@@DonDeLem it was a 60 minute match too! If you did the objectives, it'd cut the time down after each cutscene and obviously doing the objectives was how you unlocked the characters / attires. But if you got stuck, or something.. they legit had the timer set to 60 minutes which was hilarious. I'm pretty sure if you managed to play the match for 40 minutes without doing any of the objectives, you got soft locked too and the objectives would become unavailable, forcing you to finish the remaining 20 minutes unless you quit the game. This one was in 2K14. :)

With the mini showcase review I feel next year they need to do something original. Have elements of both a road to wrestlemania and a showcase mode. Have new what if scenarios or custom dream match showcases and have your own original objective list. It'd be interesting because no one would know the outcomes and you can't rely on past footage.

Just finished it, couldn't agree more on the pausing and amount of cutscenes. (It also really triggered me that Cena has resiliency in the mode.. the amount of times it said *"[PERSON] did [THIS MOVE] and pinned me for the win"* only for him to kick out automatically.)

I hope next years showcase I would love it if it was dream matches instead. Like let’s say Shawn Michaels. Only real negative about this showcase is the continuned trend of having 10 seperate alt slots with one attire, instead of like 5ish with 2-3 each. I'm 90% sure it's just cause of all the graphics changes since he changes up the color scheme with each new shirt. Next year I hope they pick someone that hasnt had a massive amount of entrance graphic changes next year, so we don't get spread out so much. And end up with a handful of character slots with a bunch of attires each. At least there's nothing as egregious as Rey December '09 in this one tho.

i believe it's the same as 2k22. the showcase and myrise unlockables don't appear in the unlockables menu so you gotta play both modes to get everything

a good ending but we need to have a dialogue about Showcase Mode. 2 years now, this has been an uneven mix of in-game/real life footage and it's just not working. Years ago, Showcase mode was entirely in-game footage, and it worked! Yes eventually the formula ran dry, but it worked. Now? 2 years of this mode and I've seen enough. 2K needs to come to a realization that they don't need a showcase mode for this series, you can just put retro content in the game with no need to explain it. It's even more embarrassing when you notice that the same studio, the same developers can do historical gaming a lot better in the NBA 2K series than this. Just my $0.02

Looks like the Stone Cold showcase is still far and away the best one they’ve done. I just hope they can do one as good as that again, and with a lot of matches like that one. They’ve all been shorter since the return of showcase
