Just to correct the position - the idea that masturbation is not haram in Islam is a minority position. Other scholars that DO permit it, give the disclaimer that it’s ONLY allowed when one is the on the brink of committing zina. I.e it’s used to protect from a greater IMPENDING evil, like you hinted at (not randomly whenever some feels like it). However, even in that situation, porn is never allowed of course. An extreme minority say masturbation can be done anytime - however, they’ve been widely refuted. Good advice nonetheless.

@@anasibndawood6696 Hanafi, Shafii, and Maliki schools consider it haram unless the scenarios I mentioned (Shafiis disagree still). Only school where one of the FEW scholars allowed it, although considered it detestable is Hanbali school. Ibn Taymiyyah himself said it was haram and considered those Hanbalis that allowed it were wrong. Therefore, majority here is known. I don’t have authority to pass rulings of course, but I’ve studied enough to convey the opinions.

Hey there coach. Always appreciate your takes. I had quite a conservative upbringing. This combined with being raised in a western society typically meant that my interactions with women were kept to a minimum but my access to these types of content was widely accessible. This created in myself (as well as noting in others) quite a fear, perversion, and objectification of women. I was personally quite lucky - I think im considered attractive so when I did end up losing my fear of women, I found an incredible woman shortly after and have been quite happy since. I still watch these content from time to time (generally when our schedules don't align and I'm stressed with work) but it's not as absolute as "you will be completely desensitised". Some of my friends never made it out of this mold - and it's a sad sight to see. Nevertheless, no real point I'm making, just thought I'd share that while I largely agree with your take, there is nuance in this phenomenon

The west is falling. Too many Christian churches are not just forgiving the sinner but not the sin, and rather accept the sin in an attempt to attract more members. These pastors fail in their teaching the word of Christ and his disciples. Yes forgive the sinner, we all sin. But nothing in scriptures even implies that sins should not be preached against. The failure of the Church is part of the decline of the west.

For a long time, I felt like I could never give up porn or masturbation. I always tried, but even when I tried, my intention was to gain power back and feel more masculine, attractive, magnetic and vibrant... so that I could be more successful with girls lol. In other words, it was a selfish intention so of course I was never able to keep that up. Now, coming back to Islam and wanting to please God, I feel like my values are aligned, I am only submitting to the Creator, no one or nothing else! 100% Agree with you Firas. While this is a broad problem, there seem to be more and more christians converting to Islam or eastern orthodoxy simply because western christianity has become apathetic and overly tolerant. Cedric Doumbè has famously said something along the lines of "I converted to Islam at a point in my life where I was seeking to become a better Christian". I'm not a muslim myself but I understand the sentiment.

Alsalamu Alikum Coach. You are a gentleman and a scholar. A light note inshallah. It is imperative to share with your audience that something being "makrooh" (disliked), "Mustahhab" (liked) is an *opinion* unless we have clear cut evidence from the Quran and the teaching of the prophet peace and blessings be upon him. Then comes scholary consensus. So please be mindful of that as it is possible to misguide laymen like myself otherwise. Secondly, something cannot be not Halal (Haram) and "Makrooh" at the same time as by definition these two terms contradict each other. Haram earns you a sin while makrooh (disliked) does not. Lastly, masterbation is considered HARAM according to scholary consensus. Much love.

I'm not religious, spiritual at best, so the points about that don't interest me, however the "overstimulation" killing your desires is definitely a valid point. Regardless of what your religion is or if you even have one, I do believe there should be abit more control over how much we stimulate our minds. I don't think the women are at fault here or there's anything inherently wrong with them. It's just not good for motivation as a man if you look at that constantly or even regularly.

Just change the habit to something else. Whenever you feel the temptetion to watch corn instead of going on some website do some push ups for example. I like to meditate like 5min are enough, the temptation will be gone after a few weeks

Where in Islam does it say masturbation is makrooh? Just because Zakir Naik said it doesn't mean it's true. 'Abdullaah ibn Mas’ud said, "We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while we were young and had no wealth whatsoever. Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'O young people! Whoever among you can marry, should marry, because it helps him lower his gaze and guard his modesty (i.e. his private parts from committing illegal sexual intercourse etc.), and whoever is not able to marry, should fast, as fasting diminishes his sexual power.'" (Al-Bukhari 5066) It doesn't mention anything about masturbation.

You’re right Christianity is not the official state religion but most politicians and the majority of Americans identity as Christians. She is defaming the “state’s most popular religion” would be more accurate.

The separation of church and state is a false ideology and has lead to the downfall of our country. There’s no handbook on American ideals that is opposed to keeping religion a part of society
