just got a vista box up and running for a friend that hasnt been for years. Put mypal68 on it so he could hit the web. Core 2 Duo. Im doing xp pro with mypal68 and Supermium on this box. Not perfect browsers but by far the best I know of for these older os's

@@adventuresinnostalgia I have Supermium on xp pro 32 bit and it does really well. It's hosing up on youtube but Amazon runs great (speaking of the sites I go to). I use mypal68 13b also. It does YT much better but its a slightly slower browser but still decent.

Finally Supermium is getting the attention it deserves. I used it on my grandma's Windows 8.1 PC that can barely run Windows 10 and it was a wonderful experience! And also, if you open the experiments tab, you can enable the Windows 11/10 Chrome refresh UI which you didnt mention. Also, since this Chromium version is unsupported under Windows 10, the user agent claims that the OS running is Windows 10. Great vid!

8.1 user here, I refuse to upgrade because I love having the Metro Start screen and Aero. Having a browser that will continue to work for me on 8.1 is phenomenal.

upgrad3 and update are different, update is simply going to a newer version. upgrade is going to a better version.

I went straight to your channel trying to find a web browser for windows 7 32bit, saw this video about this fancy open source browser for Vista, went to the github page and saw that it is also compatible with Win7, downloaded it and it works like a charm. Thank you again! Albeit this is an older video of yours it still works

Have been using Supermium for about sixteen months on Windows 7 Pro x64 and am favorably impressed. That there is a portable version (which some other Chromium-based browsers, such as Brave, lack) is an extra - and very welcomed - plus. Am also looking forward to the upcoming version compatible with Windows XP. Highly recommended.

About Windows 2000, believe it or not, the creator said it will not require the extended kernel. That's great since it would work on windows xp rtm.

I can confirm, great browser for Vista! Earlier I thought that it may be some kind of virus, but now I see that developer (win32) is doing a fantastic job! I use Vista as my main driver, not because I have to, but because I want to! It’s so much better than windows 10/11 in my opinion.

@@adventuresinnostalgia It has everything I need in a browser, it's light, has extensions and works perfectly on my Vista laptop, unlike other so-called 'lightweight' browsers. I had used Seamonkey, pale moon and others; Superium is the one that worked the best.

I don't know how, but I turned on my old PC with Vista yesterday, and I've start Google Chrome which was already installed on the PC, and it works fine. I'm still confused 😅😮

I am a bit confused.. Can anyone pls tell me if I need Pale Moon to download this supermium? I totally never heard of neither! I would be absolutely chuffed if I could use my old vista laptop again!😮

If you can transfer the installer package for Supermium to your Vista PC with a flash drive then you wouldn't need Pale Moon. If you are trying to do this with a Vista PC only you would need a browser to get pale moon so you can get Supermium. Im not sure if Internet Explorer can download pale moon. I haven't tested it personally

@@adventuresinnostalgia It's OK, thank you! I was able to download it with Opera (didn't bother with Pale Moon) & it worked! I'm very happy with it, as now I can access Google chrome + Gmail without any problems!! Hope it'll stay like this!! 🙋 👍

Unfortunately, I found that it is unbearably slow on Windows Vista compared to Chrome v109 on Windows 7.

@@adventuresinnostalgia That was my first impression, but after I restarted the computer the performance was better. It's still a bit worse than Chrome v109 on Windows Vista though. I'm sitll thankful and deeply appreciate the work the supermium team has done to keep older operating systems usable.

The portable version of v121 works on XP. The portable and installable versions of 121 works on Vista and later e.g. 7 and 8.1

hey im having some issues with it not loading some images on sites such as discord, im using a clean install of vista ultimate 64bit sp2 with no updates installed, is this an os issue or a browser issue? also does it update by itself or do i have to install it again when a new update comes out?

@@adventuresinnostalgia it's definitely real (considering it's coming from the vista extended kernel developer) I have gotten a build that is a bit buggy but runs on XP x64 pretty ok Also it has trapezoid tabs which is a neat thing

Thus finally the modern divide between XP/Vista and 7/8/8.1/10/11 is finally over. All are united again. In fact XP and Vista are still technically new and modern operating systems as they came after the year 2000. In my belief, everything made since the year 2000 are new and modern. It is only that Microsoft just recently stopped supporting them, and hardware manufacturers, software developers, and users dropped it for newer versions. Plus what Microsoft did in 2014, in 2017, in 2020 and in 2023 are actually having a negative impact on a large fraction of computer users, especially on those living in developing countries. Hopefully, the upgrade policy will become much less aggressive and Microsoft should reconsider the decisions that it made in recent years regarding these OSes.

You make an excellent point. If your perception of time is a window roughly 18 months forward or backward then Windows XP is rather old. If you consider the very beginnings of computer history, Windows XP is very new

Haha, good point! You're right, Windows XP is a bit outdated these days. But hey, maybe someone out there with a classic machine stumbled upon this video looking for a good browser. Speaking of which, have you tried Superium on a more recent version of Windows? I'm curious to see how it performs on newer systems.
