I asked them about one thing that was useful to me: that I could share a link to my notes and have the AI query the data: easy enough, right? chat GPT can read links, right? but they told me this was not a thing with this device.

The fail here is the so-dry-I-could-fall-asleep delivery. They could have an incredible product that people will lose it over but if they are relying on these two to deliver the messaging, it's dead in the water. The enthusiasts will see if for what it is worth but unless they come out swinging and evangelize the problems it solves, the "I have a cell phone, thanks" crowd, the "costs way too much and I need a subscription? no way." people and the "that looks dumb" contingency will immediately dismiss. It is incredibly rare that the brains of the operations are also writing the marketing.

turns out the responses the thing gave were wrong. the almonds had way less protein and the bit about the eclipse was totally wrong. i think this thing isn't ready and after learning more i have sort of become more pessimistic about the project.

I don't know, that couple has a strange dark cult vibe. The gadget is just a limited phone with ChstGPT, I don't see the point.

My two cents is that I like the initiative and I respect the risk that they took and doing something like this but I think they did a horrible PR job and I’m not referring to the event being delayed. I mean we literally do not know anything about the hardware processor the camera resolution can I video call someone do I need to have my phone on me does it have to be AT&T what happens if I travel outside the US and is it water proof?? Just so many questions unanswered. Also, I know with new tech there’s usually a premium fee and they’re probably not mass producing those things, but $700 that’s a hefty price tag to have when you’ve barely done any marketing about the thing, aside from a TEDTalk about a year ago, and can I just say we literally say again, we still do not know a thing about the hardware side of things, I mean the thing could be made up of paper mache for all we know.

>Ai Pin >Uses magnets not a pin This thing is a lot more interesting than I expected, though I think a lot of it could be accomplished by just having a bluetooth button magnetted to your shirt that triggers ChatGPT voice on your phone. The projected display is neat but I suspect the primary interaction will just be voice and audio based. The hand gestures seem clunky and difficult to remember unless you spend a lot of time just training. At the same time do you need to see a low res sun with clouds and 73F projected on your hand vs just pressing it and saying "What's the weather like today?" and hearing a response? I'm not allowed to use ChatGPT for work but for my own personal projects I use it constantly and can definitely see the value. The price is too high for me to get just to play around with but I bet there will be some unexpectedly cool use cases for it early adopters will find. A lot of our modern devices are just slight refinements of the same thing over and over. This is at least out there enough that it feels a bit like "the future". I feel like there's not enough of that future magic even though by this point we really should be living in it already.

Ik i'm in the minority here but im honestly rlly excited to purchase the ai pin for my bday, my new yrs resolution this year was to go phoneless so I destroyed my phone, so far i've been getting much more done since i've always been distracted by tiktok and social media on my phone so the fact that the Ai pin is basically my phone but without the distractions rlly draws me in and if I want entertainment I always have Tv or my computer which im using right now. Not to mention the majority of ppl dont understand how powerful Ai is, I use chatgpt everyday constantly on my computer as my form of google and I stay putting people on to Ai so being able to have access to that Ai whenever is perfect for me. I rlly think this pin is a step in the right direction, just imagine the next gen versions of it, its just like when the iphone came out and ppl werent sure of it. Timing is everything and I think this Ai pin is way ahead of its time for the majority who doesnt understand the potential and innovation.

Thanks for posting this review. There were several interesting features for that device. When he touched the device on his lapel, it made me think of Captain Picard on Star Trek. "2 to beam up." For the hand gestures that he used to control the device, it made me think of "Upload" & "The Peripheral" series on Amazon Prime. I wonder how this device is going to compare to Navigation apps. Currently I like the fact that I can just put my phone on my windshield and see the turns along with the voice directions. I do like the fact that I could wear one of these devices to a meeting and just let OpenAI answer any questions directed at me. :)

honestly very true. and what's keeping OpenAI from just allowing their iOS app to do everything this Ai Pin does?
@The_vincepryor6 ай бұрын
This is just a screen-less smartphone in speaker mode. Both Siri and Google assistants are slow. This is the first version. Smart speakers and watches are gimmicks. But we use them to some degree. This is all beta, We pay for it as the first adapters. Version 15.3 in 2040 will be likely be the optimized version we will slowly take for granted.😎 Like our iPods with a phone attached. 😊 This is straight out of "Player One"
@dvdaltizer6 ай бұрын
totally. this thing is probably 5-10 years ahead of its time. just waiting for siri to have similar AI performance (like this with OpenAi) and it’ll just be game over for companies like this.

Im ngl i fucking love how much you get with the price point. I saw the openai integration at the end too and i was like Okay, now Thats huge The data aspect, I understand that it can all be used for revenue but i dont even know if i totally care. I do, because i want unfiltered information, but i read books for that

This is really cool! I feel strongly it can help the blind with its in-built camera to identify obstacle and how to help them avoid it. Asides that, I feel it can also be utilized to aid in the communication with the speech impaired. through interpreting the sign language to even an individual that has zero knowledge about sign language. Finally, it will help with capturing, documentation and reporting of incidence as they happen in real time. My recommendation is for speech activation to be introduced for those who are limbless to also take advantage of it. In all, it is a fantastic innovation.

This is kind of an stupid device, sorry for anyone excited but its too futuristic, people won't adapt to no screen all of a sudden the shift is too drastic and honestly 95% of the features can be made on a Apple Watch, I get their intention which is to make tech less intrusive and make it disappear but its actually more intrusive, people all over the place talking to an AI to interact with a device that is a no no, all those AI feature can be done on an Apple Watch and if people really don't wanna use a phone just get the cellular Apple Watch. To make the tech invisible and reduce the reliance on large screens and distractions of a phone I would have made a smart watch that competes with the iPhone, small like an Apple Watch but totally independent of any phone, it's less intrusive and completely disappears but its there when you need it.
