Who's more versatile than Olivia Newton-John? No one can touch her. She's influenced so much, but is criminally underappreciated. She was IT in the '70s through the mid-'80s. She, Streisand and Donna Summer were that era's Trinity. Every straight guy wished to date her, and every girl (and many guys) wanted to BE her. I can go on about her for hours. Once-in-a-lifetime talent that is unappreciated these days because she's a crooner rather than a belter.

Olivia not only sings with an almost incomparable range, and control, this woman who has been my favorite singer for fifty years now, since age seven, the very first time I heard her on the radio, and the woman I have had a crush on for almost as long, sings with EMOTION. She sang and sings without auto-tune, does perfect tracks and backing vocals. There will never, ever be anyone like Olivia Newton-John, the world's sweetheart, and tremendous humanitarian. She also learned as a young woman in Australia, on television, how to use, and look at the camera, which along with her tremendous voice, beauty and emotion, instantly made much of the world instantly fall head over heels with her voice; and beauty. I will forever love Olivia, and she will always be my favorite vocalist of all time, until I am dead.

I see these beautiful comments written shortly before her passing and it hits me harder than expected. I love her too, her beauty, talent and voice have been my refuge from the ugliness of the world, the fact that she endured physical pain for so long proves how unfair life can be. She didn't go anywhere, she's in my heart, forever.

@@Ciclopea2 I love your post. Music often times when just listening by yourself, brings you joy you simply can't explain. Olivia's voice, music and songs have brought me such joy and happiness, still, thousands of hours, and hundreds of songs later. I love a lot of artists voices and songs/music, but Olivia just had that certain special factor in many categories. Maybe first, and foremost was the joy she brought. But for me, the beauty of her voice will always get me. Every single time. And I know darn well, it just wasn't her. She had wonderful teams if songwriters, producers, musicians, and so on. All this time, I just wished the same happiness and joy that she brought to millions, to her to be happy. Life has it's ups and downs for everyone, but the joy she continues to bring me through music and movies is infinitesimal.

@@havensmm9308 There are no set metrics for comparing musical Artists, so it is false, to claim any person was underrated, which you find all over KZfaq. It's just speak for lazy people, who have no idea what else to write. In this case, Olivia sold millions, had I think about 14 Gold albums and was adored the world over. I had the privilege to meet her and her sister when she was doing a concert in Copenhagen. I was doing hair and makeup for the concert that included among others Tina Turner, Morten Harkert of A-ha fame. Olivia wanted to have her bangs shorter and I offered to cut them but she told me she had been cutting her own bangs for years, so she ended up borrowing my scissors and cutting them herself. She was very nice and down to earth, and made everyone feel like they mattered. And this was shortly after her boyfriend vanished during a fishing trip of the coast of Los Angeles and was presumed dead.

Our lives are truly better for the gift that has been bestowed upon us, Millions fell in love with you from afar and those who have had the privileged to meet you in person actually fell in love with you. Dude, a rock dude myself, I canNOT believe you hit any song at all from this show, to me it’s one of the greatest vocal performers EVER, front-to-back of the entire show. ONJ was DEF at her vocal peak in ‘82, I would loooove to hear you do this type of reaction to Silvery Rain and then secondly Jolene from this show. MAGIC is also SO much better and breathtaking vocally live than on record. To this day I don’t think her voice has ever been FULLY done it’s justice on a studio recording, and they all sound pretty damn good anyway! She is SO much better and full -sounding vocally live ❤️🔥🌻✌️ Groove on dude!

And yet, she's not only singing perfectly live here, I have this show on V.H S tape, she does the whole show, along with the choreography, traveling the entire stage with wardrobe changes. She was still working just as hard, being the true professional entertainer and singer she is, years later when I saw her. Back in 71 or 72, when I lived in Austria, we were taking a road trip. We were driving through Portugal, and I saw she was in the matinee/sign of this small club where she was going to perform the following night. There was no way I could convince my father and the rest of the family to get a hotel room, and catch the show the next night, so I didn't even try. Years later I took my own family to see her, sending a note and roses backstage before the show.

Sometimes he’d watch the entire thing twice in a row. Ironically his name was Sam (the name of this particular song) and I was named after him. She was beautiful and an absolutely amazing talent. Literally every single song on this concert was amazing. And have you ever seen anyone make a over-the-top mullet look so beautiful?! She was not underrated. She sold over 100 million albums with many albums going gold, platinum, and couple double platinum. She was allowed to cross over from country, to top 40, as well as the box office over a period of 35 years. She did duets with at least 30 different top ten artists inclusive of the BeeGees, Cliff Richards, and many others. She has been through cancer and just did another duet with Marie Osmond. She has been rated very highly and was one of very few female singers that could compete with the powerhouse Karen Carpenter synonymously. Of course everything with music is subjective, but there are a lot of one hit wonders that can be described as underrated, but Olivia does not fall in that category as far as I am concerned.

Well thank you Fil. I think we forget about Olivia. Time has a cruel ambivalence. Being a singer myself, what she does here is insane to do in a recording session and “other worldly” to do live. No, I cannot do this even in my range, lol. But I know amazing when I hear it. Wow I never realized how good she really was.

Don Black needs more credit for this as the lyricist....it is a lyrical masterpiece. The songs allows Olivia to paint a picture of a woman telling the listener of her ultimate loss....just have one more listen to those words and the "emotional vocal"(yes, I mean't that rhyme!!) of the amaing OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN....gone but NEVER EVER forgotten. My favourite singer ever....any wonder why? My sister sent me a text about her passing...that has never happened before. I was in Weymouth, England when she gave me the news. My daughter once delivered Olivia's Greatests Hits Album to me months after I lost it during the divorce. That was the moment I became lost for words.

@@samuelm.5752 Sheena has a more powerful voice than Olivia. Olivia hands down had a cleaner ethereal quality. If you listen to Sheena's early recordings, you could tell she was being marketed as an Olivia competitor. Besides having the same wardrobe designers, songs like You Do It, has Sheena singing exactly how Olivia would have sounded on that song. My biggest disappointment was MCA records pushed Sheena into the R&B sound which revitalized her career, but I was hoping for Olivia to had been pushed in that direction instead. Soul Kiss came close though.

@@samuelm.5752 I completely agree. Sheena was my go to after Olivia stopped pushing commercial pop after Soul Kiss. Sheena's The Lover In Me and What Comes Naturally albums were my wish Olivia done this stuff materials. I Need Love came in 92 and I was loving this sound. But then the illness change Olivia completely. Chemo and aged probably affected the crispness and clarity in Olivia's once pure voice. I would pick Olivia's voice over Sheena's anyday.

She is very underrated for her voice. She was one of my first crushes as a little boy. My dad listened to country music and that’s how I first heard her. When Grease came out everyone used to tell me I looked just like her, it was the biggest compliment ever lol. Xanadu is still one of my favorite comfort films for sick days, cheesy as it is I still have the VHS tape AND the DVD in my tv cabinet. I had all her albums from the 70s thru the 90s; if she put one out, I bought it.
