When we go to sleep we don’t really know what’s going on inside our bodies or minds, but it turns out there’s a lot happening. Today here at Bestie we’re gonna take a peek behind the curtain and uncover what your body does while you’re under the covers.

Summary:
Some people claim that they can even function pretty well on only a few hours of sleep a night, but it turns out your body needs this time to recharge, and sort of reset from the previous day. Sleep isn’t something that happens quickly, it sort of happens in stages, and there’s actually a lot that goes on once you close your eyes.
You actually will go through most of the stages of sleep three to five times every night. Which is why it's known as a sleep cycle, since you cycle through these phases many times.
Dozing off phase is that phase when someone says "oh you were asleep" and your response is likely "No I wasn't!" You're not alone in saying this, 80% of people will say they weren't sleeping if woken up suddenly from this dozing off stage. As you progress into the deeper stages, your brain kind of disconnects from the outside world and it becomes harder to wake from.
Researchers seem to agree that stage 2 can officially be classified as “sleep”. We’re not quite into REM sleep yet, but we’re getting closer. This part of the sleep cycle is when your brain starts to calm down, your breathing gradually slows, and your body temperature will drop. You can still be woken up from this stage pretty easily until about 90 minutes or so have passed when you’ll enter REM sleep.
When you sleep, your sympathetic nervous system finally gets a chance to relax and studies tell us that this is one very important part of sleep and how it relates to our overall health. Giving your nervous system some time off can really help combat the negative health effects sleep deprivation can cause like high blood pressure, and heart disease.

I know by we always have different dreams For me, and probably lots more people, dream about things that they heard,saw during the day your brain remembers that and stored that memory so when you go to sleep you have a dream or a dream related to what you saw/heard during the day and people sometimes say”I had no dream” they did they just don’t remember it :)

4 - 10 hours a night for more. At least 1 or 2 nights every week I don't sleep at all despite being exhausted.

Some nights I don't get any sleep some nights I get 10 minute sleep , most nights 5-7hrs. 3 yrs ago I slept 12hrs. Recently I found a trick to fallin asleep is slow my breathin down while layin in bed & its worked so far.

when I sleep my spirit goes to places where there’s bright lights I see other people that know me and i’ve never met them face to face there’s a place i go to it’s a places with lots of trees And there’s a lot people standing around and there is somebody they turn around look at me and smile I don’t know who this person is they smile at me this dream is so vivid dream ends.

I limit my stress through the day and this way it's much easier to fall asleep. Recently got rid of a big stressor.... Negative Boyfriend! Sleeping like a baby! 😁 I also do short meditation.

I’m both night owl and early bird. The way I fall asleep is by wearing my sleeping mask to block out the light or other things, and by placing my phone under my pillow and listening to music to help keep other noises from disturbing me.

Often, I try to sleep between 8:30-9:00pm. I take melatonin about 8:00 or so,and try to get about 8 hours . Since I am over 50 now, melatonin really helps.

I always tell people that sleep is detrimental to what you do and that it's super important but people don't listen. I did some research for my library research class and if you only get 8 hours or less your cognitive functions are that of a drunk person. It's also a big deal for soldiers in the army because they sometimes don't get enough sleep and that can cause lives on the battlefield, so the soldiers higherups try to make sure that the soldiers get as much sleep as possible, if they don't they let them get a nap if necessary because their lives are more important

I sleep 8-12 hours a night. During the winter I sleep the most. My sleep is #1 and many past guys I dated hated that I needed my sleep. Being told I’m sleeping my life away, that I am like a grandma, and falsely accused of sleeping 16 hours a night. I’m single and loving my sleep! I attribute being thin to my abundance of sleep. I never eat midnight snacks and it allows for intermittent fasting.

I have a fx machine that makes ocean sounds or train, wind. Rain . What is random for that night. Gives my mind something to latch on to. Then sleep is easy. Oh ps I think of the 27 th psalm 1-12. After my prayer.

I usually get 7-8 hours of sleep, and I am a night owl. I wake up at 5:00am in the morning just to workout, but I am an night owl. I always make sure that I get to bed pretty early around 8:00 to 10:00pm just to get the energy I need during the week, but the weekends are very different. That's when I stay up later, but only Friday's, and Saturday's. Then it's back to 8:00-10:00pm on Sunday's.

To help me fall asleep i do this navy trick where I stress my body and then slowly rrlax and then i fall asleel in around 20-45 minutes.

Why does it take me so long to go to sleep. I don't feel drowsy right away! It takes me hours to feel sleepy?😭

Personally, It's not just sleeping for 7-10 hours but the timings are also important. Our sleep should be before 11pm it provides us with plenty of early morning hours to plan or relax in our next day. I recommend sleeping for 7:30 hours per a day

Its because of your dreams it happened to me my mom said I was talking while I was sleeping and its because I said what I said in the dream (I think)
